After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans kzfaq.infoUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!

Totally agree with the both of you guys. Chris, you are a poet (as well as you, David). And in woodworking, as in every other art or science, you can find poetry stretching your ideas to the extreme linearity of your intimate thoughts. I don't know if it make sense for you guys in english, but it makes it for me in italian :D

just saying, the creativity thing at the end (the 'stopped getting ideas for a while, then they came back' part) is commonly known as 'art block' in the art and drawing community. Its kinda cool to know other community experience the same thing, even though it makes a lot of sense that it would transfer sense both things are very creative and similar in ways. (i didn't see someone else point it out so i did)

I get what you mean by river tables not be creative and because so many people have made them so they are less rare. But you still have to give the people credit for making them because they are still less common then normal tables and they take more time to build than normal tables. But with that put aside, you did a great job with this table.

As an avid Lego fan and woodworker/carpenter myself this is the perfect blend of both passions.. and I'm so glad you used the plural of the word "Lego" correctly.. so many people throw an 's' on the end of the word, which as T.L.G. have stated themselves, is incorrect.. :) Great work as always Chris, look forward to the next project.

I don't know if it was because this video was something different from what you normally do, if it was a collaboration, if you got a new camera or what but I honestly think this was your best one yet - the storytelling was really clear and flowing, the timing and humour was spot on, the shots around the 5 minute mark were :*, the piece turned out beautifully - I love the looked of the ebonized maple and dark concrete contrasting with the legos - and the pun at the end was well.... classic Chris :)
@Foureyes.Furniture
@Foureyes.Furniture 5 жыл бұрын
haha...thanks man. It was the same camera with a few things added in, like the drone. There were more night shots I suppose...also the reveal part was a little more "documentary" feeling. And you're totally right. That ending is pretty much the classic me :)
@jmakes3745
@jmakes3745 5 жыл бұрын
Haha the ending completely caught me off guard - I was sitting here getting into the story, the philosophical insight, the calming music, slow and relaxing pan shots and then BOOM the moods shattered with a lego pun :) & yeh you're right it defiantly had more of a documentary feel! I rewatched it to try and pinpoint what I really liked about it, and I think with woodworking videos we kind of by definition are just shooting the workbench/table saw from as many different angles as possible, however the concrete allowed you to add a lot of variety to the video; changing locations and showing techniques that are completely different from each other (pouring, cutting, watering, routing etc). I also think, maybe because concretes a new process for you, the video had a kind of discovery feel about it - every step flowed/built on the last one and you really felt like you were being brought along on the process..... but then again maybe I'm looking to much into this haha! Either way, as I said on Mike's video this is definitely the best collaboration i've seen!

Hey Chris! I recently got in a rut and did something everyone has done just to make something. I split a cedar log in half, hit it with a forstner bit a couple times, and hot glued some air plants in there. It came out well, I tried to use my knowledge of design to place my plants carefully for the best effect. I did something there are a million pictures on Pinterest of. For me, taking the effort out of WHAT to make, and making myself focus on HOW helped me get creative again. I'm sick of river tables too, but my air plants on a cedar log were my creative equivalent to your additive joinery. I have a ways to go to catch up to your design and craftsmanship, and I want to say thank you for posting your take on the river table. You changed the how, and gave me ideas to change the how again in some of my projects.

Yes, Chris, River tables have jumped the shark. Glad to see something different. Also stoked to see the collab with two of my other favorite channels.

the best part is you could actually BUILD on top of it. So the table can continue to be used for creativity...its purpose is just beginning. Just think of a little kid building something of there own idea on top of that. I love this!

It's like fish, you don't say fishes unless you're gollum, the plural of fish is fish and the same goes for lego, it's NOT legos it's lego. You don't have pieces of legos you have pieces of lego!

Thomas In my religion it is not an issue to say “God”. As such, I have the habit of saying “Oh my God”, “Dear God”, “Thank God”, and “God forbid”. I also say “Lord” instead of “God” sometimes. I don’t see any issue of saying my Lord’s name when I think something is amazing, surprising, or terrible. It just shows that I think of Him always. It is not my intent to offend but I have no intention of stopping this habit when it helps me to remember my Lord.
