A customer came to us looking for something to remove thinset from a concrete floor that was covered previously by hard wood flooring. The customer had tried floor maintainers with carbide blocks but noted that they "only put a shine on the thinset".
We suggested our Edco 2EC concrete floor grinder and #10 coarse blocks with the floor prepped with a light covering of play sand that is available in bags from your local hardware store. This helps with cutting the thinset as well as keeping the blocks from gumming up with thinset as it heats up.
So far so good, while a little laborious the grinder and #10 blocks are doing a fantastic job and the customer is happy with the results. The end product will be washed followed by a covering of epoxy floor paint. We'll post more as the project progresses.
