This DIY project is on a concrete subfloor leveling in a large area. I used one and a half dozens of tripods ( bit.ly/2uVCPfX) for this concrete floor area and it really helped me to make this great job! Hi Faisal, If you have a look on the subfloor - it's a green color. I did the application of primer for better bonding. I never put leveling compound over an existing floor without primer. That's a rule!

It’s 50 bags in what looks like a 300sqft room. How could u not get a mirror image on a pour like that. Also, he set up a form to the entrance of the hall..that one room alone potentially cost the client 5000CAD$ in levelling. Phase 2 would be continuing the flood into the rest of the condo.. = more money.

Recently used a self levelling mix on a floor measuring approx 1.2m x 2m. I only bought one 25kg bag, and really had to stretch the mix out, maybe should have used at least another half bag. Cost of almost 30 euro per bag ! This floor must have cost a fortune !
@zaxazva

Tony Mak so approx 4ft x 6ft..yeah 1 bag would have got you a very skinny layer. When you’re pouring in a small space..a good tip is to use a small cup to scoop out small amounts and just slowly try to cover the whole area

After I seal my perimeter areas. I always measure out in 24in sections the width of my gauge rake spreader. I mark with a sharpie the measurements on the ends of each 24in section. Doing such gives me a better idea of how much I should pour in that area. Just another way to try to do the best job I can. If I could post a pic of my sections I would. Great video btw!!

Thank you for the video. I found this is the best video for floor leveling. I have a question. I have started leveling using a water method to determine unevenness in one of rooms and I have placed leveling cement over a clean cement floor without first using a bonding primer. This application is for a residential job with a minimal unevenness. Can I leave it as it is, or do I have to remove it now and repeat again first using a primer? The bonding cement seems to be firmly placed . I plan to use a vinyl plank flooring product over it.
@MrYoucandoityourself

My dear friend, in this time you can just remove concrete, but after , when floor will be done and you get a problem with subfloor, you have to remove the floor, remove concrete, level it and then install new floor. I guess you can understand different? But everything in your hands, you can leave it as it is. Thanks!

Thanks for all the videos! Big help. What if you have a low spot at the doorway to the room… do you end up with a ridge at the edge leading into the next room? Wouldn’t you then have to raise the level of that entire room to match? Lastly, do you mix your compound with more water than it calls for to allow more workable time?
@MrYoucandoityourself

Hi, you can match the level both rooms, or make different level and put transition in the doorway. Yes I add little more water then recommend on the bags. Thanks

Hi Gunter, all dependable from the many factors as year season, material, air humidity, water temperature. If you have at least 3 guys - you can do it in one shot, but if you are alone - do it by the room. Divide room in the doorway. Thanks.

Instead of buying these tripods. Just cut wood shims to the “height” u need to add and glue them to the concrete in the designated spots throughout the room. I guarantee this guy has kicked over his “tripod” atleast once while pouring.

kobi chicken that actually sounds easier. Do you just leave it in the concrete? What happens if you overflow it accidentally and lose them or does that not really happen in practice?
@zaxazva
@zaxazva 4 жыл бұрын
TwoLeggedTriceratops Its your choice. you can leave them in, or pop them out with a hammer and chisel. If u pop them out, just be prepared to mix a small bucket of feathering patch to fill the void. The shims don’t necessarily get covered unless u over pour. If ur worried about losing the shim..u could always tap a short nail in to each so u know where they are before u pour.

@@zaxazva hi well if you were going to do that then you might as well just put screws and plugs directly into the concrete and screw them to the desired height to give you your guide. Wouldn't be as noticeable either as timber. I think iv just invented something lol

You appear to show that this "COULD" be a one man job. I've seen almost everywhere else that for the bigger jobs (which yours is), you need two men to do a large floor. My floor is approximately 900 sq ft. I wondered if "dry" edges could be next to the next pour, would I need to sand where the two edges meet to blend in. Otherwise BRAVO!

I added 200 square feet to my garage when i did whole house remodel/rebuild. The cement guy started at the slant of the existing 400 sq ft garage and added on the additional 200 sq ft. The issue I having is when we get heavy rains here in Texas, water comes in under my garage door. I have been wanting to add some concrete to level out the garage to get rid of the slant and raise the newer part of the garage floor. I believe i would need to add 1.5 - 2 inches of concrete/leveler to fix the issue I am having. Any advice would help. Thanks in advance. Very nice work!

Hi great video. Question please. The difference in my floor is one inch max, similar as yours. What material to use? I see usually self leveling floors on youtube are up to 10mm deep. Sometimes if it is more than 10mm, they advice to add sand in the mixture. What material did you use and is it appropriate for one inch floor difference? Thanks

If you have a concrete pad that has slight unevenness, do you need self leveler, or will the mastic under the tile provide enough material to straighten out the tiles? My floor has slightly under 1/4" differences here and there but nothing drastic.

@@MrYoucandoityourself thank you for your reply. I watched the video and have three more questions: - it looks like you used extra mortar to bridge between different levels of backer board, is that right? Do you leave a gap between the pieces of backer board? Do you tape the seams of the pieces of backer board? I ask all these questions because I might need to use a variety of thicknesses of backer board, since the room curves down from the middle to the edges. Your videos are great and the views of Vancouver are super nice too! Many thanks from Australia.

nice job 👌. I would like to buy the Screed Leveling Tripods, but they are very expensive. My floor is the same way than yours 1/2, 3/4 and even 1 inch in some spots. Is there any solution to level the floor in those low spot without using 50 bags of self leveling because in the us 50 bags x 30 dollars= 1500 dollars just in self leveling cement please any advise. Also what is the water ratio for mixing. Thank you very much for your help

Hi, you not realize how much expensive it should be. This 50 bags would cost you with labour within 35 - 40 hundred. Therefore, $300 for 12 tripods- its nosing. Also you need spiked roller, buckets, mixer and so on....look in description for this video. Don’t forget seal the walls to avoid leaks. Any questions, you can ask me here or on Facebook page. Thanks

Hi Paul, measure area need to fill up, for example, 200 s.f. sloping down from 0 to 1". One bag cover approximately 20 s.f - 1/4". Divide in half because it sloping - it will be 1/2" for 200 sf.=10(1/4") + 10(1/4") bags.
