Well done! I have two very different bikes and now have the information to correctly strap them to the trailer. Refreshing to hear from someone who actually tows and or hauls vehicles and freight for a living. Real life experience.

awesome video. love the idea to strap over the front tire. was kind of worried about the lower tree on my first front fairing bike. us former dirt bikers know about cinching down the front forks to much. thanks very informative.

Really informative video, I use 1/2” bolts through the trailer floor with a backing plate under the frame to secure my condor.And use the bikes suspension to float. Front forks of the H-D by strapping over the forks fender bolts and double ratchet tie down straps each side as I had one break once

Hey Man, thanks for your time and help. I'm curious to and update the wheel chock now you have used it etc. I'm also wondering what if or couldn't a guy replace the bolts that hold the wheel chock to the brackets?

Thanks for your excellent advice and professional experience working in the towing industry. I was wondering if your Condor chock was locked/bolted onto the floor of your trailer or can it be used without bolting for those that are renting a trailer and cannot drill or insert mounting brackets. Thanks in advance.

Excellent information! Looks like your fenders were probably fine since the wheel lifts up enough for clearance in the chock. If you check out SRK Cycles or Bikes and Beards, they move hundreds of bikes by strapping to the forks at the fender mount using Tank Straps. They have a test vid using just 2 Tank Straps to prove how well they work.

Nice bike! That was a good video too. I think Im going to try this chock out on my harbor freight table lift. The lift seems great for the money. But, I have tried a bunch of different chocks and they all suck!. I tried the HF's version of this chock (the one that looks like the condor) and I returned it. The HF table is high up off the ground and the pin that holds the rear part of the HF chock (the condor clone) prevents the tire from easily driving into the chock. Its a pain to get it back out for this reason too. It's like trying to back your bike up over a speed bump while sitting on it. The only good thing about it is the front part of the chock is all one piece, nice and tall and doesnt need adjusting like the condor. I see what you're saying about those two pieces being too close together and creating a gap off the floor. I don't understand the design. Why not just make it without those. Or, if they are there for lateral strength weld them flush with the bottom so theere is no gap between chock and floor. I have a vtx 1300 and a cbr 1000 so I want something that will work for both with minimal fuss. I don't mind moving a pin to a different setting but, I don't want to be unbolting things. Thanks

Can you just run a bolt thru the trailer floor and then use a backer plate on the bottom of the trailer as well as larger washers on the back? Or how about using e-track in your trailer and attaching the chock to the e-track?

Best video I have seen in securing a motorcycle. Love your ideas based on experience. What is your view on the "canyon Dancer " strap? Please advise!
@fillupread
@fillupread 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Personally I am not a fan of any strap that uses the bars to control the bike. The Canyon Dancer in a nutshell bridges the strap across the bars as a whole instead of individual anchor points on each side. On a light weight motorcycle they would be a great addition to strap the yaw or side motion with additional securing straps to the chassis or wheels, but I wouldnt make it my only anchor choice.

Your math is flawed, even if it wasn’t, putting a few 1” straps rated at approximately 1000 lbs breaking is not going to hold your suggested 48k load... You can use FMCSA 393, 393.100, 393.102 etc. for guidance. I do agree with you that more straps are better. And I am plenty disheartened when I see some of the other guys pulling front and rear straps both in a forward direction. Straps always need to pull against each other.

I have a Victory Cross Country. The rear part of the fender is an issue like you stated. Did you take pictures or do a video on how much you took off that Cradle piece so it would clear the Fender? I think Many Vic Owners want to know this. Thank you.

How do you keep the front tire from rolling forward or backward when strapping over the apex? Seems like, to me, any deviation either direction would cause the tire to roll in the chock.
@fillupread
@fillupread Жыл бұрын
When you run the tire into the chock, the rear saddle that you drive over "cams' over and binds the tire between the saddle and the front bar. Getting the bike back over that saddle takes a good bit of pull/jerk. Putting the strap over the top of the tire locks the tire down hard in the chock. Truth be told, I should have done this video in my trailer with the bike mounted in the chock.

Your math is way off. You’re going to hold it “backwards” with a strap that’s way less than your 48k force or whatever lol. If you get in a wreck, the bike is hosed most likely anyways. Put it in the chalk, strap it forwards, and go ride lol.

And it's rolling weight since it's going forward or backwards depending on the wreck. Aaand it's strapped. He's talking like it's 48k lbs of force HANGING from the screw

I think your figures are way off and mainly because you didn’t understand the motion part of your equation! The motorcycle is not going 40 mph when it hits the chock ! There was no perpetual motion! The trailer is going the same speed and when stopped suddenly it’s all about the impact not what you are saying it is
