A little under one minute in when the lyrics go "she played charleston on the laundry for the boys", the music starts playing the charleston rhythm. That was brilliant

Fantastic band! Absolutely love it. Ever do the tune “Titina”? Or, “Come Josephine in My Flying Machine”? I could see you guys doing that splendidly. I know Billy Murray did it, but I can’t think of who else might have also recorded it.

I have been following music from this period for over 50 years now, and have never heard this tune! KZfaq's algorithm led me to kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNBxl6ifyLzGj4E.html where the Mills Brothers perform this song, and more performers are listed in the comments there. A great song, please enjoy!

As a second-language english speaker, I'm having the hardest time hearing whether she's singing in New York American English, or in the more period accurate trans atlantic accent? There are certain pronounciation cues pointing either way, and it's driving me nuts. Thoughts?

I’m not a linguist, but I’d say it’s more the latter. I think New York pronunciation would not be so clear on the R sound. It would sound more like “wash-bwoahd or -bōahd” rather than bORd, as she sings it. Does that make sense?
