Are we going to talk about how brilliant the writers are about the little details? McKay mentions that the radius of the gate is in correlation to its power requirements. The Mk1 gates (SGU) are slightly _smaller_ than any of the counterparts, because they weren't designed to handle the same amount of power in its capacitors as the Mk2 and 3. The attention to continuity in this show sometimes just blows my mind

I just noticed something about their seating positions. They did not sit opposite each other, as in SG1 on one side and the Atlantis team on the other. Instead, they mixed it up, sitting alternating, with Weir at the centre since she is the chairperson of the meeting. Very good way to have a sense of unity and also for both teams to interact closely with each other in the crossover episode.

I sure do like the interplay between Sheppard and McKay. One of the things that made SG:A so enjoyable.

So on Stargate you've got recurring if not regular characters from Star Trek Enterprise, Star Trek Voyager, Firefly, and Farscape. Sounds like heaven to me.

I really really love how everyone else are just smiling at Mckay as he argues. Just shows how these guys are Veterens of the Stargate Program. They are so used to all these stuff.

A little shy of 3 minutes of extremely entertaining discussion. The character development they had done with this characters up until this point allows them to make a scene like this that's allllllll technical babble, yet still be MASSIVELY entertaining.

Rodney was so perfectly executed as a character. He went from an annoying ego centric twerp to a loveable annoying ego centric twerp that became front and centre of the Atlantis.

Got to love how Carter mouthed "Thank you" when Shepphard said he would shoot Rhodney.

This episode was one of the best crossovers ever.

In retrospect, it's interesting to note that this scene and a scene from "New Order, Part 1" were the only interactions Carter had with Weir.

McKay is like a child going on a field trip. When he's begging for McDonalds and you say no, but deep down you know you want it too. So you say no, but after the 3rd "please...please..please" you say yes just to shut him up. Don't feed into his ego just give him enough slack to feel like a part of the conversation.

Back when they were still going to do an Atlantis movie, I was kind of hoping the followup would be a crossover movie. It would have been great to see both teams interacting extensively as opposed to just briefly

A lot of people were wanting atlantis season 6.

I like this scene for many reasons, both within the SG universe and in general with the writing and characters. But I also like seeing that you can have Mitchell and Shepard, two very similar characters, still get to show themselves as individuals. The rare times we see them together are good, if subtle at times. Similar to Ronon and Teal'c, for example.

If anyone jas the right to be arrogant it's Rodney. He has saved everyone's ass so many times it's crazy.

I feel bad for Rodney, sure he's annoying but he's a genius, saving the day countless times. Succeeding under pressure is a trait not very many have, and he excels at it.

That look on Cam's (Browder's) face after near the end is priceless

You can really see McKay's growth as a character comparing this scene to the much later one when he's explaining the "plan" to destroy the replicators to O'neill and Woolsey

That is SUCH a cool scene! It's so long since I watched SG-1 and I only recently got off may ass and bought (and started and finished) SGA. I'd never tried to envisage how the two teams would interact. I'm surprised how different Mitchell and Sheppard are (I'd always thought they were cut from the same mold but now I'm thinking a little differently). And the writers made Rodney more obnoxious than usual, don't you reckon? Time for me to watch SG-1 again. Thanks for posting this.

looking back, Vala should have been brought in long before she was... she's a blast.

Much as I like Mitchell, he was super unprofessional here. Rodney was expressing concern with a plan he doesn't know the entire details with, going over things he feels need to be said that haven't been addressed yet. Instead of simply telling Rodney they've done all those things and not to worry, he gets all shitty with him, as well as portraying annoyance at him being involved, like come on the dudes just making sure everything goes smoothly.

One weird thing is that Carter had already been to Atlantis TWICE before assuming leadership of the Atlantis Expedition (season 4), yet she didn't seem to remember it. Shepard too, since he welcomed her to Atlantis as if she had never been there before.

This is why Sheppard should've had more interaction with SG-1. McKay was already established with SG-1 and Weir was at one point running the SGC. These are the premier people of the SGC for the most part. Sheppard should have made another appearance or two at the SGC. I hope if they make another Stargate that he's part of it even in a guest capacity.

You know looking back... They were all arseholes to McKay. He just wanted to make sure all they had all the necessary parts to make this plan work. You can really see when the series started to try and be more 'mainstream', with making sure you knew to root for 'cool soldier McCool-man', and that they too hated to dumb nerds/geeks. Carter got a pass because she was also a combatant. Also, where are Tayla and Ronan, they'd also miss the dog reference and likewise want it cleared up; I suppose that would detract from the 'everyone hates McKay' shtick.

They turned McKay into a joke for a long time to make SG1 appear smarter and better instead of them being smart and good on their own. This continued even here. Despite all this, McKay had a terrific actor and he redeemed the character very well in Atlantis and made him a fan favorite.
