I honestly expected Kai to win but they aren't even in the top 10

It doesn't matter about animation, smoothness can only get you so far. The lack of fluidness, story telling, and visuals are the real reason why those were just runner ups.

The storytelling in that one was great, for such a short meme. You could tell what was going even without watching any other videos. The others were just random, or you needed to watch other videos to know what’s happening.

Yes but the storytelling on the first one was great, and simple. You didn’t need to watch any other videos to get what is going on. The others were random or needed other stuff to be explained. It’s not always based on art, it’s also based on creativity :3

Exactly Leucoves, Kai and Qwerts all had really good animations with story and visuals but they didn't get runners up.

I know you’re being nice but honestly, give small creators support by putting them in runners up and give those that deserve it first place.

Woah woah chill down, the contest was meant for everyone over the whole range of animation skills. Some animators may have gone to school for it or may already have an incredible amount of experience. Those people also already have a tablet, which was the prize. Of course the jury also chose less complex animations, of course they also chose less experienced people. People who would be very very happy with the win and the prize. If the winners would all just be those very popular, amazingly polished and professional entries, that would demotivate a lot of less advanced animators. They'd think: "See? I am not as good at animating as those other incredibly skilled people. I have no chance because they will just win anyways. So why bother joining. :(". And that is exactly the opposite of the point of this contest. It was meant to motivate people to animate. It was not meant to just promote already popular animators. I'm sure those are aware of this too and encouraged the choice of lesser known animators too. It's about the creativity of the community for them, not about 'being the best'. I'm sure you can understand that :)
