Confirmed: this is the final sighting of Vera (JJ8) in Loch Arkaig as she departs at 06.40.19 taking the remains of the two day old flatfish with her. She was heard calling off camera from 06.18.30 and arrived still calling at 06.19.41, had a quick look around then grabbed the two-day old flatfish (delivered at 12.28.57 on Friday 4th) and started eating with enthusiasm. This is this her final visit - Vera has headed south, five months to the day when Louis & Aila reunited on 6th April and started this whole adventure off. On this last visit she didn't really call for food in her usual vociferous way, just picked up the old flatfish and dived in for a good munch before leaving with the rest of it. At 97 days old today, with a full crop after lots of fish yesterday and the previous day, and a northerly wind, Africa has beckoned, and she has answered the siren call. We wish her fair winds and good fishing, and hope one day we might hear of her adventures.
