@vrederik710 жыл бұрын
So far we have only seen Greenpeace dictating the Russians. Greenpeace has earned a lot of money with the media attention of this Arctic action. When will Greenpeace start to care about their footsoldiers, the Arctic30? When will Greenpeace finally start to negotiate the release of the Arctic30? The Arctic30 to date might have sentences of 5 to 20 years according to Greenpeace lawyer Jasper Teulings.

Dear Greenpeace, would your time not be spent better turning your ship around and heading for Japan, giving the world some coverage on the Nuclear Disaster Fukishima, which has been contaminating the world since 2011.

What would they need the ship for? Fukushima is on main land... but I guess your point is, that you know better what agenda a global environmental protecion organization should follow. Because... @RojoFern5 жыл бұрын
Melting arctic ice will not rise sea levels, it's simple physics. The ice is already in the water, meaning it takes up a portion of the ocean's basin regardless of what state of matter it is in. It's like this. Take an ice cube and put it in a glass of water. Then wait for it to melt. The water level in the glass hasn't risen because nothing was added to the water, the ice just changed form.

The world needs to expand existing animal habitats on both land and in the oceans by 100x. Too much development of the land is taking away animal and natural habitats and too much fishing and netting is destroying and depleting the ocean. The human population has doubled since 1980s and it is continuing to grow out of control at a logarithmic rate. See the world population websites if you don't agree. Our planet has not grown to adjust to the human growth, so we as humans must learn how to balance our population and our dedicated land for Farming and living for humans, and habitats for animals. Natural and animal habitats must be protected and increased in size or the only animals we will have left are on farms and zoos. We must do this now before it is too late and the passage of time and human greed erases all animal and natural habitats. Most people are narrow minded and think we can just live together however man in most all scenarios destroy habitats so there is no living together side by side.

Standard and expected comment, but you forget that Earth belongs to everyone on this planet. And if someone just wants to do better for the Earth in order to prevent awful catastrophes in advance by exposing real situation to the public, then they should do it. So interesting: at 2:47 the woman starts to talk about the unsafety of oil drilling and that Gazprom have no plan how to prevent a disaster and how to clean up an oil spil at 2:56/57 the Russian official answers: "yes, i know but is not our business" That answers is an acknowledgement of a Russian official Gazprom have no good safety/clean up plan and it also means: Greenpeace has a good reason to be there.
@AlexShark57710 жыл бұрын
"yes, i know but is not our business" - it is translation from Russian which exactly what he meant was not his work but some other departments job, he translated as he could.
@roberterkelens373510 жыл бұрын
"Yes i know.........", confirmation of the accusation of Greenpeace. When this officer is visits the Greenpeace ship, he is officially representing the Russian Government. Everything he said is officially the voice of the Russian Government. That is how it works and should work. He speaks on behalve of the Russian Government during the whole meating, so also his words "Yes, i know........" he speak on behalve of the Russian Government. If he said things that doesn't represent the official stand of view of the Russian Government then the Russian Government should publically make clear this officer said words which not representing the view of the Russian Government. This is not done and therefore it is considered as the opinion of the Russian Government.
@AlexShark57710 жыл бұрын
Robert Erkelens Not in any country in the world can officer speck "officially" on behave of representing "the government" for such things there is "Foreign Office", as well in Russia. When someone entering in any country’s territories they suppose to follow the lows and rules, that is how it works. About "Yes, i know...." the officers are not trained to be negotiators and ones again if to translate from our languish it most likely meant “Yes I understand you/your point of view” which doesn’t mean that he agrees with it. Then, Greenpeace is so much concern of that oil rig, but not that disaster that happened in Mexican gulf oil spill. It more looks like it is political issue against Russia than real job of Greenpeace that is almost obvious.
@roberterkelens373510 жыл бұрын
Sorry but that is the way it works. An other example: the captain of the coast guard ship the two rescued activitist was brought to, said "they are guests on my ship". Those words are used by the Dutch in the tribunal in Hamburg. As an officer you have to know what you are allowed to say and what not. If we should not take his words as he used them, then there was also no warning to leave the area and no warning that forced will be used against GP if don't leave the area. In these kind or circumstances it has to clear to the receiving party (in this case GP) and it should not become a riddle for them: what is officially and what if unofficially said. If the officer is not enough trained for this kind of situations or not enough skilled in English, that the problem of the Russian Government and no excuse to hide behind and they should have sent the right officer from Russian perspective. At that moment he respresents the Russian Federation. Just the same as the people at that conversation, represent the crew and Greenpeace as an organisation. A more extreme example, why this rule is applicable: Poetin orders to sink the ship if they don't leave. An officer brings this message to GP. GP choose to stay and the ship is sunk by the Russian Navy. Poetin would be in the position to say: i never gave that order, they decided on their own. Therefor an officer on an official mission, represent the Russian Government. Everything he says is the official point of view of the Russian Government. Your excuse only shows more, that the Russian Government underestimated the situation and thought they could handle it as they are used to with pure domestic matters. As said earlier in one of my comments: international matters you cannot solve in the same way as you solve domestic matters, other laws, other rules, other opponents. The Russian Government acted from international perspective very amaturistic. It makes me think about the denial of the Russian Government to have skilled translators present at the "interviews" with the detained crew. According to international law a Dutch translator needs to be available when requested for Dutch people, but although this has been requested several times, a proper translator is not provided. This is a violation of International Human Rights. If you commit a crime in the Netherlands, an official interpreter will be available in you native language if you request for it.
@AlexShark57710 жыл бұрын
Robert Erkelens I understand your point of view but once again, I will not go so much deep in explanations. In our country different laws an officer can not represent the government just can't. But let us assume that in the court GP will take this officer’s words for there any purpose, I will tell you honestly, even if somehow(imaginably) he would be representative of the government and the government didn’t like that, he would be fired with the “back date” that means that during the interview he shouldn't be there and he wasn't informed on time. It is simple as it is, and therefore everything he said does not represent the government statement. You are trying to implement the rules that works in your country but not in our. I will give you example, if police officer stops a person in USA and tells him/her to get out of the car and if he/she does not comply officer might shoot him/her easy, in here even if he knows that person is a criminal he will not shout because it will be a lot of problems instead he will call for OMON(Swat Team) those guys don’t talk they kick and shoot, that is how it is here. Our disagreement is in international low but the problem is this all happened in our territory so the implementation of lows are Russian Federations here, for every action there is reaction(proverb). A person is judged upon the actions were made, the actions of GP were bad particular in this story. And for real, what did they expect? That oil rig would stop working and be removed from there? All I see is just a political motivation against Russia.

They boarded a ship, they're lucky they weren't shot on the spot. International law states that piracy can be met with instant death. The rig was in international waters, meaning they well couldv'e all lose their lives Not to mention they were endangering the lives of everyone on board because of their stupid gimmick
