CONFRONTING CONFUSION----wisdom in the age of outrage
---- In 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
--WE ARE navigating UNCERTAIN TIMES-- we’ve never been through this before… WE need WISDOM--- we need GOD’S HELP--- we need HIS GUIDANCE--- WE are NOT IN CONTROL…
---CONFUSION IS NOT A SIN---but it can lead to SIN--- confusion is a work of the enemy to try to---WHAT CONFUSION DOES----distracts, distorts, depletes, discourages, and ultimately detours our life away from God’s purpose…
--BIBLE EXAMPLES of PEOPLE who LIVED in CONFUSION---- King Saul, King Herod, Cain, Judas,
---PEOPLE who EXPERIENCED CONFUSION but OVERCAME IT-----Moses, David, Peter, Thomas, Paul the Apostle,
5 WAYS TO CONFRONT CONFUSION
1---CONFRONT YOUR THOUGHTS---- 2 Corinthians 10:5 ----"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." ----GET YOUR MIND BACK -- it’s time to EVICT every thought that’s TAKING UP SPACE IN YOUR HEAD that’s not from God.
-MOVIE IN MY MIND-entertaining imaginations that aren’t true-believing suspicions that aren’t true---people whispering, people laughing, assumptions, etc… --YOU ARE THE DIRECTOR of that MOVIE in your HEAD-- you have the power to STOP THE SCENE--- CUT IT OUT--- edit it---and stop giving so much power to it over you… 1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” ---2 Timothy 1:7 ----"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
2---CONFRONT YOUR EMOTIONS/FEELINGS--- Jeremiah 17:9 --The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?---YOUR FEELINGS and EMOTIONS are NOT GOOD GUIDES-- they will not always lead you the right way--- PROVERBS 28:26 --- whoever trusts in their own heart is foolish-but whoever gets wisdom will be delivered…
3----CONFRONT WHO or WHAT EXTERNALLY COULD BE ADDING CONFUSION----Pay Attention--- who are you listening to? What are you reading? What are you doing that isn’t helping? Who’s giving counsel or opinions---NEWS, PODCASTS, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, KZfaq, ETC--- Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden?”--- THAT VOICE PLANTED CONFUSION IN THEM… What grabs your attention will often determine your direction whatever you’re paying attention to will drive your direction-.
4---STOP & ASK FOR HELP from the RIGHT PEOPLE- why do we have a hard time asking for help--- pride, don’t want to be a burden, independent mindset,
-Story not asking for directions hurts us all in the end- ENVOY-Lincoln, Nebraska--- ended up in the wrong state Proverbs 12:15. //. Proverbs. 15:22 Wisest man in the world says we need outside assistance.
5-COME UNDER GOD’s AUTHORITY-- James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
-- Proverbs 3:5-6 TRUST, SURRENDER, LEAN NOT…----Story of Solomon Divine direction begins with unconditional surrender. IF YOU WANT GOD’S CLARITY and HELP-then you’ll have to STOP TRYING TO DO THIS WITHOUT HIM… ---ASK FOR GOD’S WISDOM--------Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.- He will make your path unmistakably clear- When you lean into His will, not yours.
“Prayer is the cure for a confused mind, a weary soul, and a broken heart.” ----- “God is the reason why even at the saddest part of life we smile, even in confusion we understand, even in betrayal we trust, and even in pain we love.”
1 PETER 5:7---- Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
