You can say that phrase, but it is not common in spoken Thai. Using " ขึ้น kûen" is short and easy. :)

I think that increase is a better translation than improvement for kuen.

@@ThaiwithMod kzfaq.info I just thought of this. Palin grew up in Thailand and she is currently living in Canada. She teaches people how to cook Thai food in English. Palin's videos might be a useful resource for you since she is talking about something that you will have some familiarity with in English.

"Kreun" is the pronunciation same as " luk kreun" when we are referring to someone who is of mixed parentage.

They are not the same pronunciation. "Mixed race" is called ลูกครึ่ง /lûuk krûeng/ - ลูก /lûuk/ child + ครึ่ง /krûeng/ half .
