My apologies for the lateness of this video. I was in Myrtle Beach for a wedding this weekend and was unable to shitpost in the process.
I was hoping the Maple Leafs would win, tbh. I love me some steak, but I desired lamb in this situation. Such a pity...

For the curious, that team is Florida.) Auston Matthews has won *multiple* Rocket Richard trophies. This is a team that has consistently had one of the best offenses in the league in the regular season for the better part of a decade now. All of that... AND THE TEAM HASN'T SCORED MORE THAN ONE GOAL IN A WINNER TAKE ALL GAME IN FIVE STRAIGHT SERIES (note: this doesn't include last year's win against Tampa or loss against Florida, neither of which went to 7). *They have, instead, tied an all-time record for offensive ineptitude.* They scored more than two goals in a game only once all series. As per 0:56 they have averaged TWO GOALS EXACTLY in games where they could potentially clinch a series win across 12 games over the past six seasons. They had a 5% PPG average this series (one goal in 20 power plays, one of which was a double that they barely got a shot off during) and have a 4% PPG average in those aforementioned potential series-clinching games (one goal, TOTAL, in 25 power-plays ACROSS FIVE YEARS). This "high-end" offense that they're pumping two-thirds of their salary cap into every year has COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FAILED to perform when it matters, and it's happened *without fail* for an extended period of time. This isn't bad luck or a "curse", this isn't getting "goalie'd", this isn't because various members of the "Core 4" went down to injury or illness on any given year, or any of the other excuses that the diehard fans have been parroting for years, it's not even a case of the Leafs having suspect defense or goaltending like many of their harshest critics keep saying (yes, they've given up over 3 goals on average in possible clinching games, and that's definitely not good, but even the best defensive teams would struggle to win if their offense was *this* anemic -- remember, they're averaging LESS THAN A GOAL for those winner-take-all games and you need at least one to win). THEIR OFFENSE KEEPS FAILING TO SHOW UP, AND THIS IS A TREND THAT HAS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY -- AGAINST MULTIPLE TEAMS FOR THAT MATTER -- FOR OVER HALF A DECADE. THIS TEAM IS THE DEFINITION OF "ANTI-CLUTCH"! What a fucking joke. This team needs to be studied scientifically, because this ability to reliably disappear in key situations is borderline sorcery.

I said this on one of Dangle's videos but high powered offense gets taken down in the playoffs because of better defense. The Bruins beat the Leafs to puck battles, got better goaltending abd wasn't afraid to take a hit as well as give it. The Leafs culture needs a serious overhaul

It's because the Leafs core has no motivation, no passion, and no drive to win. Once the regular season's over, they've earned their massive paychecks, so why should they push themselves any further? All that's left for them at that point is to check out and hit the links. Marner being told to pound bricks might just be the wake-up call the Leafs need. Sends a message loud and clear that _nobody_ is safe anymore. You disappear next postseason, you're gone. Had a record-setting regular season? Don't care. _You're gone._ Period. End of discussion. If money's your only reason for playing hockey, you do that shit on a different team. From now on, we only want _winners._

I think what makes this so much worse for Leafs fans is the fact that the core is likely going to be completely destroyed after this. Keefe is all but gone, Shanahan is likely fired, Taveras and Marner are probably either being bought out or just thrown out. At least previous cores were able to progress a little bit into the playoffs, this group only had one series win…one. Dangle has sat and watched this team through some of its worst years, and when they were finally good again they never had anything to show for it. The more you look at it the worse the curse of Ballard looks, the kind of torture this team puts its fans through is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in sports, maybe with the exception of the Browns.

It’s simultaneously hard to watch yet impossible to look away from, because this video, I think, isn’t meant for laughing at the Leafs. It’s to show how awful this curse has become, to show how torturous being a Leafs fan is nowadays. I’m not a leafs fan, and I do enjoy laughing at the leafs’ failure. But now its getting to the point where its difficult to watch, especially seeing it affect Dangle. I’m convinced that we are constantly seeing a little piece of him die each time this happens.

You want to know exactly when I knew the Leafs were going to lose this game on a breakaway, memes and history aside? Shortly before the goal, they started chasing the puck on defense instead of staying on top of the Bruins' players. It was a perfect recipe for a Bruin to blow past them and have a clean shot on net. Sloppy, sloppy defense.

'04-05 Leafs wouldn't have won anything. And I'm not saying that because "LOL TORONTO", but because I remember them looking awful against the Flyers for most of their series the previous year (as well as them going on a long playoff-less streak after the lockout). They were on a clear downward trajectory at that point.

4% Power Play in potential series-clinching games is insane, especially for a team whose core is 4 top-tier forwards. I genuinelly feel bad for Leafs fans. I'm a Caps fan but I've found myself rooting for the Leafs to win a round for the past 5 years, and they've only done it once just to win 1 additional game after that. It's passed the point of being crazy news that Toronto lost in the first round again, it's just sad now (and I say this knowing that my team hasn't won a series since 2018, but winning a cup really softens the blow for years aftwerward). Maybe Toronto can do that one year, but they have to stop running it back with no major changes to the core roster.
