Every Indian is more or less aware of the partition of India, in 1947, for the good or the worse. For some even after multiple generations, it is a wound, that is far from healing, for there is next to no effort has been made to provide any restitution or even any kind of solace. On the contrary copious policies have been made that made the trauma ever-fresh in the memory. And the socio-political situation in India still made the real victims, that is the majority to carry the burden of that trauma.
In this video, we will find an intriguing discussion on the book "1947-1957 India: The Birth of a Republic".
The intricacies of the partition and the nature of independence in 1947 are deliberately being shunned by historians. Did Congress ever make any effort to stop the partition? What does dominion status really mean? What was the nature of the so-called independence in 1947? And why 1947, or even 15th August for that matter? What was the role of Congress in the transfer of population after partition? We will learn about these crucial matters in this session.

Chandrachur Ghose: He is an Independent researcher and writer on economics, environment, history, and politics. Author of books that unveil modern India's biggest political mysteries.

I know that's true. But there is a question.I still wonder how and why the true leaders were not strong enough to stop nehrus congress from overtaking india. ? I saw the trains of butchered Hindus men women and children and I was a small child at that time and going to rialway station for giving help i was so much hurt that i could not take my food for days as those horendous scenes of blood and amputated men and women and children. 1940 census Undivided India Total population 38 crore Muslims 9.5 cr 25% Muslims in Pak Punjab & Bengal 6.5 Cr Muslims left in India after partition 3 Cr (9% of 32 Cr ) and most stayed back. While in Pak East and West, Non Muslims reduced 50% to 2% In India Muslims grew from 9% to 20% & now India has biggest Muslim population

Gandhi accepted the partition in 1940 in his essay in the Harijan. In 1943, Gandhi prepared a plan to partition and send it to Jinnah through Rajagopalachari. Both Gandhi and Jinnah were British agents. British planned Pakistan in 1934 as the area where they would stay if they had to leave India to stop the Soviet Union coming to the Middle East.

On hindsight it seems that partition was good in the long term. One of the demands of Muslim League was that Muslim personal laws/ Sharia laws would prevail . Would our country made any progress under these conditions? Would Ram Mandir happened?Of course it's another story that Congress leaders wanted to grab power. The idea of Purna Swaraj, Complete Independence was first propagated by Sri Aurobindo. It was in 1907 Surat Congress that this resolution was passed. Later this was taken up by Netaji, who in letter to his friend Dilip Kumar Roy wrote, "I have dedicated my life to the ideals of Aurobindo Ghosh."

The younger generations do not know how difficult it was to get freedom? They should be told every single day, make them realise that things were not at all easy for people of Bharat . They should be taught to uphold it at cost in their lives and pass it on to next generations.

If Gandhi would have started his hunger srikes against the Pakistan proposal in 1940 would there be partition? If Gandhi had accepted the Cabinet Mission Plan in 1946 ignoring the opposition to the plan by Gopinath Bordoloi and the Assam -Congress there would not be any Direct action Days Killings and partition. However, Gandhi even wrote a letter to Clement Attlee to get rid of General Wavell who was against the partition. Lord Mountbatten came as a result to partition India as soon as possible and Gandhi and Nehru were very friendly to Lord Mountbatten, who was responsible to invite Radcliffee, who knew nothing about India, to divide India. If Gandhi would have started his hunger strike even in June or July 1947, the British could not divide India. Gandhi after the partition started his hunger strike in Calcutta in 16 August 1947 to save the Muslims of Calcutta but for the Hindus he suggested them to be sacrificed but not to do any retaliation. Why could not he do any hunger strike in June 1947 to stop the partition as in that case Muslims would be safe everywhere, even in Punjab ?????.

Because of the partation of 1947 and because of Congress even some of us from the new generation are suffering in many places. Specially in NE though we are born in this country we are still called refugees because our grandfather came from West or East Pakistan.

There is one more school of thought regarding Partion Of India. This was originally a British plan fot maintaining thwir strategic importance and control in Asian sector. It is also mentioned by some rhat Jinna was a British agent engaged to carry out the task of Partition.

Dear Mr. Chandrachur Ghosh & Mr. Anand Ranganathan, your contents of discussion about the acheiving Independence from British was first highlighted based on records & documents by Dr. Pankaj Phadnis more than 20 yrs back. You also referred Shashi Tharoor in this regard . Dr Phadnis has furnished details extensively also of domanian status. Its a book (The unfinished story of Indian Freedom Struggle) having about 1900 pages. He has raised this question in court as well. Many of Podcast personalities are not different as they are conviniently avoiding the mention of a common man Dr. Phadnis for obvious reason. I will sincerely appreciate if you are bold enough to refer his findings for which he spent about a decade of reseaech. The other part of your discussion is really worth listening. Such findings must be linked with Dr. Phadnis.

What most people don't say openly is that, in 1947, Nehru with the blessings of Gandhi had created a proxy Islamic nation of India wearing a hate-Hindu secular mask, because both of them wanted to stop even those Muslims who had supported formation of Islamic Pakistan going to Pakistan. For that purpose, they even gave minority status to the Muslims who in real numbers were the 2nd largest majority, which the Indian Muslims are still now.

The way the partition happened and all our leaders agreed shows they were public enemy, blood in their hands, they all were British agents. Army were removed and the line of partitition was announced abruptly so that slaughtering can go on . Now we all know our so called father of nation and Nehru, Jinnah ,Patel were all British collaborators. So we are still a 3rd world . Some bussinessmen did drug smuggling, money laundering (hundi) in collaboration with British . They were amply rewarded . Now that is considered as virtue. They are our heros ! God save us.
