Not really, as the period of the clock is given by the rolling wheel which rotate and slip at the end, it is not very accurate.

Could the runtime be increased by having the motor output be triggered to quarter turn instead of half turn?

Yes, it is a compromize between the runtime and the torque the motor has. Reducing the movement amplitude to increase the runtime will require more torque on the motor because less gearing so it has to be tested prior, especially as this small windup motor has small output torque.

@@algodoomarbleracing with the lego part used in the model, you can only wind it up for a couple of rotations, and that gets me to less than 2 minutes

Maybe you could make some sort of mechanism by which the wheel's momentum does most of the tipping of the platform and then the wind-up motor would only do a tiny bit of the work. If the motor turned a lot less with each pass, then it would last longer. This is all just speculation, no idea if it's possible :)

Webmaster4o multiple motors driving a common pinion gear and a sufficient increase to the drive train ratio could be a solution to longer running time. KEvron

I've recreated this with 100% the same parts (same motor etc). Mine only runs for about 3 minutes. In the comments Nico says it runs for about an hour but on his website he says about 15 minutes.
