One of the best start to finish guides, very thorough. I watched around 5 videos before coming here and this was the best by far for setting up new equipment. I could suggest adding in the setup of passwords for the routers/switches and explaining a bit of what each command does. Great video!

After I'm successfully connect to the internet with the Cisco router and switch can i disconnect the home router or ISP and it will continue browsing?
@mosasa1307
@mosasa1307 10 ай бұрын
@@abdullahisuleiman9276Subhanallah Abdullah. You cannot disconnect the ISP router or home router. The ISP router is what is giving you connection to the Internet. If you have your Cisco router or whatever lab router you're using, it HAS to connect to the ISP router and be in the same subnet as the ISP router because from their the ISP router is connected directly to the ISP network. So you need the ISP router. Anyone reading this, do no disconnect your ISP router thinking you'll still have Internet connection because guess what? You had Internet connection first with the ISP... how can you have Internet connection if ISP router or modem is off 😂😂

I do have a couple of questions if you still monitor this Vid after 4 years, 1) When going from the ISP router to the Cisco Router, do Gi0/0 and Gi0/1 have to be on different networks? 2) If you don't mind me asking, where abouts in Australia are you from?

I'm studying Eng. and I think that doing this, applying a router and a switch is extremely overkill but then I think: hmmm, let's try this haha. In my opinion unless you are an average US guy that needs to buy stuff just to preserver the way of living, or if you do not need to have a lot of things connected, this is crazy setup that I would like to have to increase my bill for nothing haha. But I'll have one too haha.

@itsupportpeople219
@itsupportpeople219 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching... You can check #sh vlan to check any vlan were configured previously or not. Or you can delete all vlan #delete vlan.dat and reload the switch. If still doesn't work just factory reset your switch by pressing and holding mode button. But it will erase all configuration. Can you make sure you created a DHCP pool in the port of the Cisco router from where the switch is connected. Another important thing is connect the rj45 cable coming from the Cisco router to the Fa 0/1 port of the switch. Hope this will work. Thanks

This is an excellent video for beginners like me. Thank you. I do however have a couple questions. Some ISP's do not give you static ip on your connection. If they assign you a different ip bi-weekly, will it affect port 0/1 since the ip for 0/0 has changed? Also, if I have 2 ISP's at home (one get free from our cable company (10/100)) and a fiber that I pay for, is it a just a matter of creating another vlan on the router and creating a different segment? I would like to have my servers access both network, is that possible? Another question, we have a shared printer on the fiber connection for the rest of the family, will my lab which have access to it? Thanks again!
