Hello! I'm interested in the new Audio4c, but I have a couple questions I hope you can help me with. Can I program some midi parts on my daw, then send that midi part to an iPad connected to the Audio4c to trigger some sounds from apps on the iPad, and then route the audio that's being generated back to the computer that was sending the midi in the first place for recoding iPad sounds? (this scenario is using an iPad and a Pc) is this possible? Can I use any combination of devices? Meaning, an iPad and a Mac, an Ipad and a Pc, a Mac and a Pc? Thank you for your help!

You can definitely do that. You can use any combo of computing device. Windows, iOS, Android, Mac. I've done this many times before. Send MIDI from Logic to Moog apps or another synth on my iPad and get the audio back. Super easy to do with the AUDIO4c

On w10 Ableton 11, network RTPMidi it is easy to get Ableton Link and Midi in/out to Ipad 2018( ios 17 with lighting plug) using an Apple camera adapter and Apple USB to ethernet adapter. Question How to insert Audio4c unit to get stereo audio from Ipad audio app to Ableton and do we need extra USB hub . Or should we use Your audio12 with RTPmidi?

So from what i understand with the Mio interfaces , you cannot connect a Ipad thru USB host ports using a camera connection kit ? Is that correct ? So you can only connect using Ethernet with a adapter .

You can connect an iOS device in 2 ways to the mio X series interfaces - Using a USB-C hub or USB3 Camer connection kit to connect to the USB-B DAW port on the interface. - Ethernet through a hub of adpater to the iOS device.

yes. Into the RTP MIDI port OR to a network switch that connects both the iPad and the interface (mioXM).

The first issue i see is charging the iPad. Also how could i connect multiple iPads to my MioXl using usb cable in the host port ? I still use the Midi4+ with the special cables. Unless i get lightning to ethernet and use PoE ethernet switch ? Would that charge the iPad ?

If you want to charge the iPad and have a lightning connected device, you will need to find a hub that can provide power and an ethernet connection. On my USB-C iPad Pro I usually use a USB-C hub which accepts power and can connect an ethernet cable. To connect multiple iOS devices to a mioXL. You will need multiple of those adapters and connect the ethernet cable all to a network switch then connect the network switch to the mioXL.

I’ve tried this more than a few times, ensuring the Bonjour name is set as you described and also that my anker usb C to Ethernet adapter is providing an IP in the subnet to my iPad. I cannot get it to work. 🙁

One thing I didn't mention is that on some iOS versions I've found you need to toggle wifi off or sometimes on and off to get iOS to properly connect the ethernet connection.I've been trying to look into this more to find the reason it needs the switching some times. Have you tried a different adapter? What lights are flashingon the ethernet port on your iConnectivity interface? You should have one to the top left and one to the top right. What are you using to test the connection on the iOS side?

@@iConnectivitySupport so in iOS 15 there is an Ethernet setting underneath Wi-Fi that appears when you connect the adapter. By viewing the settings I can see that it is getting an address via DHCP. I did not try toggling wifi. I will report back.

Still no dice after toggling WiFi. I have other RTP sessions connected via my MacBook, but iOS will not connect.

Can’t I just use WiFi if my MioXL is on my network? I want to connect my iPad to it with no cable.

You could, but wirless connection is prone to more network issues like disconnects and interference. Also latency is a big issue for many. Just depends on the person really.

@@iConnectivitySupport ah right. Totally new to network midi. Is wired network midi latency free to a degree?

@@MrCshmn I wouldn't say free but much less. Wired is more consistent. On a latency scale of 1-10 a wired connection would be 1 and it will be 1 almost always. A wireless connection will be 3-8 depending on the setup and even the physical location and many other factors.

@@iConnectivitySupporti'm considering buying a MioXL, used over RTP with my DAW and connected to several hardware synths. Can you confirm I'll be able to connect to it over wifi from my old iPad Air 2? I don't want to invest in a wired Network adapter for it anymore since it's getting pretty old and I'll probably buy a newer ipad with usb c later. I'd use the iPad to run midi editors for various synths and modules so a bit of latency wouldn't be that much of an issue

@@juicythedj750 This is a hard question because I can't test this with and iPad 2. I can't see why it shouldn't be able to connect still. It'll likely be more about the iOS version. You can connect over wifi but it's not recommended as wireless is not always the most secure connection. It is still possible though.
