Anyways I was given a haircut to a customer and asked him where he was from he told me Connecticut, I said that's where I was born. Asked him about Bridgeport where I was born he said oh no don't be proud of Bridgeport. Now I understand why. 🙄 Was raised in Orlando Fla. Now I live in Carson City,Nevada

@@levemebrandall4016 Excuse me. I know Bpt too, and I think it had a LOT to offer in terms of culture and recreation. If people don't like seeing poverty, then they should elect the people who will truly DO something about it. But instead, they just stick to their political ideologies and vote for the corrupt career politicians who just pocket the $$$. Actually, Mayor Ganim is someone who's actually doing something to keep Bpt relevant. Yeah, yeah, he's got a criminal record, but big whoop. He gave city contracts to his buddies, no one in Bpt cares. That's why they elected him again. And they'll keep him there for a long time. He DOES things for the city. He brought the stadium and entertainment arena to Bpt. and a whole lot more. So maybe some folks see Bridgeport through negative lenses, but if you take those off there's a ton of beauty and history in the good ole' Park City. Bridgeport will always adapt to the changing times.

Although circumstances may seem somewhat grim now, don’t lose hope in the state. Despite the economic, cultural, and political tides which have influenced the state in more recent times, I firmly believe Connecticut will be restored to its once great beauty. Although not as easy to find these days, the old blood does run deep throughout the state. I believe the Connecticut is yet to see its greatest days.

Fox, Sage-Allen etc. I hope they can do something to rejuvenate downtown Hartford and make it inviting to visit. Friends in the suburbs still don't like to come into downtown. Grew up in Meriden CT and it has become slum, had to leave. So sad to see what has become of CT today. Nice place if your very rich but the 99% are struggling. Even with my many degrees, I couldn't afford to live there, so had to move. Use to work in Hartford at law firm, had a bum throw a beer on my coworker as we walked to our car after work. Not safe for even walking. People work insane hours to keep up, causing them to drink for fun on days off. Then there's the large population that don't even work, very much a welfare state. Lots of drug use. They don't care about having nice yard, they throw trash everywhere and like it that way. No way any farms can last there, all gone now, land and taxes way too high. Also lived in New Haven for few years while going to college and it's so crime filled now and dumpy, poor Yale. Jobs are long gone. CT will never be what it use to be. Makes me so very sad. You know, you talk about the slummy cities, etc. but it hurts me to see what a lovely little town like Glastonbury has become since the 50s. Now it’s all “developed” with commercial sprawl everywhere and it’s really ruined what was once a sweet little town.

Unchecked suburban development has destroyed most of Connecticut's beauty. Even in its most rural areas home building and commercial highway development has made a unblemished Vista impossible. No farms along the Merritt or any turnpike anymore.

Blame the factory owners and investment capitalist like Blackstone, Caryle Group, Bain, that bought the factories and shipped the jobs overseas and left them, the empty factories for us to look at. blame Reagan for busting the unions and starting the carried interest loophole tax, that allows these robber barons to pay less taxes then avg people..dont blame middle class or unions..unions provided good middle class jobs and protected workers...your wrong pal....

The top income tax rate during the 50s was 91%. It was Republican DEREGULATION, due to out of control capitalism, mostly starting with the Reagan years that has cause a lot of problems all over the country. Giant corporations come in and wipe out small business and build on land that should have been preserved.
