@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
Philmac are the best fittings for underground pipework in my opinion, Working live can save a lot of time and not having to disturb the water supply to the factory was my main concern on this job, keeps you on your toes though and with water you only get wet, thanks for the support mate, I really appreciate it

Great vids , im currently retraining and doing lvl2 plumbing , I have a few questions ; 1: what’s a good brand for benders and cutters , I’ve seen them monument benders and they have caught my interest . 2 when you do a outside tap , and instal a iso and double check valve is there a certain way they need to be placed ? Ie iso above double check etc
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, for benders PB did a video on the bender he uses, there is a company called bend it now who have the moulds for the original hilmor (I think) benders, these should last your whole career. Pipe slices are hit and miss, I use today tools ones and they are decent for the price and last a good while. On an outside tap the service valve should be first, then the double check valve, positioned inside the building, then a drain off tap, then through the wall to the tap. If you can drain through the tap a drain off is not essential

Do you ever just change the synchrons or the the ball and plate ect. Most I do it new ball and plate. Especially for 3 ports on crusty cylinders
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes, is really does depend on the job and the situation, like you say if there is a risk of disturbing a crispy cylinder it might be safer to change the head or the guts. Also when valves are placed in impossible positions with no movement on the pipe this can be the sensible and only option. This job is was as quick to change the entire valve though, thanks for watching mate 👍

Honeywell!!! been really put off them , have you watched MJ Tiff Chanel the Hassel he has had 2 new ones failed! And loads of other people having issues. Not a chance am installing Honeywell
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, Honeywell have been my go to valves over the years, the valve that I replaced in this video was probably 15 plus years old, you can identify the newer heads because they have the earth strap to the lid. I think Mark was just unlucky because Honeywell valves are normally extremely reliable and asking at my local suppliers they have yet to have any come back under warranty. We will have to wait and see what happens but Honeywell do sell a lot of valves and if there is an issue they will rectify extremely quickly
@julianhawker76722 жыл бұрын
@@PlumbLikeTom Honeywell always been my first choose too but have heard of lots of problems over recent times....... I have switched over to Drayton for the time being and they seem sound enough. How do you rate the ESI head? I have no experience of them but like the fact they will go straight onto a H/well body with the adapter and no need to drain.
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
@@julianhawker7672 Honeywell definitely seem to have change their valves. When you buy the unvented cylinders they come with the white lids, I wonder if they were experimenting with different components on these valves before changing them all, just a theory, might be completely wrong. The ESI valves seem OK, when I get my underfloor manifolds these are supplied, thats why I had this in the van, not had any problems with them so far but time will tell
@johnnyfandango16252 жыл бұрын
@@julianhawker7672 I think all zone valves are not built like they used to be as the more that fail the more work there is for everyone!! The most reliable we use seem to be EPH at the moment.

Free leak with every ESi valve seems to be the case for me. Going to alot of new builds replacing ESi for Honeywells. They seem to leak from the valve spindle.
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
Don't say that, I hope this one will be OK. I normally fit honeywell's but I only had an ESI in the van, they come with the underfloor manifolds I buy and so far not had any problems with them. Thanks for watching mate

just cut in t out side fit bib tap saves drilling cabin bib tap fitted internal check
@PlumbLikeTom2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, the Huk1 bib taps should only be used to replace existing and should not really be fitted from new, the check valve should be located within the thermal envelope of the building. I only did my best on this job as I realise the pipe on the outside is not ideal but the check valve is less likely to freeze inside because the cabin is heated, the container company were happy to have a tap fitted and we will leave it there for the next contractor, thanks for watching mate
