Short Synopsis
“Connecting” is a story of listening, feeling, smelling, tasting, and seeing the presence of the moment. Sensorial modalities invite protagonists into vulnerability, surrender, embodiment, emotion and release to connect and draw attention to the wisdom of the body and awareness of self. Doctors, scientists, and therapists explore understandings of the body-brain relationship to forge new pathways of perception.
“Connecting” is an immersive, intimate cinematic journey based on trust, intimacy, innovative sensorial modalities, scientific inquiry, conversations, self-documentation and cinéma vérité. Sharing intentions in a safe, intimate environment encourages a honing of unrealized powers of perception. Protagonists enrich presence, joy and demonstrate breakthroughs of transformation in healing of trauma. Doctors, scientists and therapists innovate to push boundaries of understandings.
“Connecting” challenges norms, probes existential questions and invites deep inquiry and reflection from dynamic perspectives and progressive minds in the fields of medicine, science, art, health, nature, and design. For example janzu aquatic therapy invites surrender, isolation, and weightlessness while the sounds of water and its warmth recreate a feeling akin to being in the womb. Equine horse therapy embodies mirroring and reflection of feelings through the horse and enabling reconnection. Ice bath and temezcal sweat lodge ceremonies informed with breath-work and sound invite emotions that are embraced, embodied and released. The narrative follows perspectives that transform preconceived notions of mental conditioning. The narrative arc is catalyzed with a Liminal Session sensorial weekend experience whereby facilitators and protagonists delve deeply into transformational processes. As the story unfolds a path of reconnection and oneness to human essence grows. This film is shot in natural settings within Mexico, Spain, Portugal, Japan, USA, and Germany.
