Chester is a reference to Demon's Souls and is actually wearing the Boletarian Soldier's garb (without chain-mail) mixed with the Fat Official's mask and hat. I'm pretty sure Chester was implemented into DS DLC something like a year (give or take) before Bloodborne was even an alpha concept. You can tell he definitely influenced Bloodborne, but his creation ultimately came from Demon's Souls. Another clue is in his dialogue, when he says _"Fooled by that toothy serpent, they upturned the grave of primeval man, and incited his ornery wrath."_ indicating he's aware of this universe's lore, humanity's undead curse, and even the manipulating primordial serpents (which players only realize after a few playthroughs). Marvelous Chester is most likely displaced by time, not dimension given his clear understanding of things, being only a professed "traveler". ...but Bloodborne was Demon's Souls 2 (project Beast), right up until the demo was released, so anything's possible. Umbasa!!

Just saying that the "sword knife thing" Is a weapon from south east Asia called Keris, i believe some game just called it kris without the e. In Indonesia it was known as a traditional weapon, and have magical property to it, it was one of the common thing shaman, witch doctor or some other supernatural profession usually have here, thus the magical property in the demon souls version of it. Rather than treat it like some special weapon, just see it like how katana is from japan, keris come from South East Asia.

Sekiros Moonlight blade: I always assumed Sabimaru to be the Moon light 'great sword' in Sekiro once it has the final upgrade. "The combination of Lapis Lazuli and the rusted blue blade produces a poisonous mist with every swing. Dissolving the Lapis Lazuli over the blade caused the ancient blue rust to bubble to the blade's surface." The image has the same blue/green glow in it, but its not as solid a reference to space as the blue shuriken literally referring to shooting stars (That one is a possible hint to Rhadan and gravity magic in ER). The rust on the blade looks right though so maaaaaaaaybe.

I don't believe Marvelous Chester is meant to be a reference to Bloodborne. The NPC was created before the DLC and before work on Bloodborne started. Is it possible that they wanted to create victorian clothing? Is it possible that they wanted to create a game with that setting? There are unused character models in Demon's Souls that are stylistically very similar to Chester, even moreso the cleaner looking unused early designs for him. He likely started as a remnant of an earlier concept for the game that would have skewed closer to that than Bloodborne, but his modified design from AotA/PtD Ed. could have been meant to be foreshadowing too. Especially given that he was plucked from the far future by Manus.

If you take a look in the game files Chester has two other models, among a black zwiehander we would’ve got from killing him, these assets date back a year or two before bloodbournes development, although his design was radically changed after BB development started, hence the two models

And with Elden RIng out now, there's a plethora of more connections! Got about half way into the video and saw Logarius' sword and thought it looked far too similar to a split in half version of Malikeths blade!

now we can say there is a "pillars" or "trees'' like view too in elden ring, in nokron and in elden beast fight, and you forgot the armored knight in sekiro, he was so out of place, and very dark souls appearance, not to mention the demon of hatred looks like a bloodborne enemy. nice vid, now that elden ring has released, hope you can do connections video too.

In Sekiro they use lapis lazuli, which is basically glintstone and foreshadows Elden Ring and I think takes the place of the moonlight great sword in the form of the shuriken, axe, and flamethrower, you can even buff your sword with the blue flame like you can buff the Darkmoon Greatsword.

I wouldve loved it if Chester from Dark Souls actually made an apperance in BloodBorne It would work so perfectly because Chester and the Player Character were both pulled in from different times and different places through a portal by Manus, so what if Manus pulled Chester in from the BloodBorne universe and happened to have ended up in Dark Souls? That would be one of the coolest connection between two games ever! I think the only problem is that if you can encounter Chester and kill him in BloodBorne then that would take all that out of the realm of possibility Unless🤔....Maybe Chester actually is apart of the BloodBorne universe and he was just pulled away by Manus before we ever got the chance to meet him?! Thats my Head Canon now and there's nothing you can tell me differently

@ZoeBateman

Patches does often help you though, even if unintentionally. In demon souls he can kick you down next to a potentially useful npc you can rescue, in dark souls he kicks you down to 3 items, one of which is a skull lantern which is useful if you haven't found the sunlight maggot for the tomb of the giants, in ds3's ringed city dlc when you finish his questline he kicks you down to a place you need to go to find the way forward. In all the games he's in I think he also becomes a merchant of varying usefulness too

Oh yea you can also help out patches in his store in Sekiro, for example if you do some stuff for him he says he needs a strong person, in Mt Kongo we see a big crying monk in the start, you can tell him to go and help out patches, later in the last invasion you can find him and patches there, lying down, patches saying his final words and how the big monk fought well.

Not really foreshadowing, more like just referencing. Foreshadowing is a literary device that the audience can derive a meaning from. There's not really any meaning to these references, so they are just that: references. Also, they're... not "making fun" of dark souls with the shield. They are teaching and encouraging the play style of Bloodborne.

I forget their name, but the laughing ladies you fight around the Undead Settlement in DS3 have a near identical male counterpart in Demon Souls; now that Elden Ring is out I can also assure you that there are SO MANY CONNECTIONS in that game from Castle Morne, Irina, Fort Gael, etc

If Miyazaki really does try to foreshadow what they're doing in the future, I've always wondered if the Sword Master in Dark Souls 3 was a reference to Isshin in Sekiro.

Where did you find the final song, Words Riding on the Wind? All I’m getting on Google is Judas Priest, and “Best songs to play from Zelda” when I put ocarina in the search. There’s something really nostalgic of it that reminds me of playing games like Dark Cloud (Dark Chronicles, for those across the pond) and Final Fantasy X in my youth

I think the link is Demon's Souls SPOILERS So anyway, basically in Demon's Souls there's this Great Old One that spreads fog across the world or something, it's been a while. Anyway, basically you have the option of helping it spread the fog or fight it back, which does some shit. It could be that if we help spread the fog, it leads to Dark Souls (aka, the great fog in Dark Souls 1 that Gwyn and the other Lords solve) and then the one where we battle it leads to Yharnam and Bloodborne as a whole, because that does some magic blood stuff, IDK.
