Connectivity - The Restoration of 40 Mile Creek

9 жыл бұрынThe 40 Mile Creek Dam once supplied Banff with drinking water and water to fight fires. Located between the two entrances to town, it was built in 1946, but hadn't been used as a water source since the mid-1980s. This project involved a partial removal of the dam structure to allow the water to flow freely, and removal of some exposed pipes.
The dam was decommissioned in May 2014. It was a joint project by the Town of Banff and Parks Canada with funding from the Province of Alberta. banff.ca/40milecreek

I'm glad to see they left some of the dam. Probably saved a lot of money and it does have some historic value.

Ecological integrity. The fish need about 10 mins to start moving upstream once any dam is taken down. 🇺🇸☮️🇨🇦

Thank you Town of Banff for such a great opportunity to create this film and have it in the Banff Mountain Film Festival! Mike and I had a blast working on it!

50 m cost. 4.3 m citizens in Alberta. Cost per person. About $11 bucks. Too much to ask the Albertan tax payers ? Please.
