First appearing in 1994, the CFS420A was Conner's 3,600RPM "420MB" entry and competed with similar offerings from Maxtor with the 7420AV, Western Digital with the Caviar 2420, Seagate with the Medalist 425xe (ST3491A), and Quantum with the ProDrive LPS 420AT, among others.
According to the March 15, 1994 issue of PC Magazine, MegaHaus was selling this drive for $329 ($668 in 2023 dollars).

My example is not very healthy. Its myriad of many reallocated or bad sectors caused many failed Windows install attempts.
Windows install notes:
It would take several attempts to get any version of Windows successfully installed on this drive. I would format the drive and copy the install files from the Windows disc before each attempt. The Windows 98 SE setup process would freeze either with a hard drive-related error or freeze with 7 minutes of estimated setup time remaining. A trial run of installing Windows 95 OSR2 would be successful. However, in the two failed attempts I recorded, it froze just after the license agreement screen both times. That made me think that somewhere a bad sector (or multiple) was causing the freezes. So, I decided to try Windows 98 RTM (which takes less space than 98 SE), and after a successful trial install, I recorded what would be another successful install (and the one you see in this video). It took a whopping 46 minutes between the time I pressed ENTER to start Setup and the time the system rebooted the second time (signifying the end of Setup). As part of the issues the drive had to deal with, it took 16 minutes to advance the "Estimated time remaining" from 7 minutes to 6 (which I cut out of the video). This is why I also believe an MHDD scan doesn't tell the full story on the health of this drive. Some of the long pauses were left in so you can see and hear what the drive was doing when dealing with its bad sectors.
