"Betcha by Golly, Wow" is a song written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed, originally titled "Keep Growing Strong" and recorded by Connie Stevens under the Bell label in 1970. Stevens' recording runs two minutes and thirty seconds. The composition later became a hit when it was released by the Philadelphia soul group the Stylistics in 1972 under its better known title, "Betcha by Golly, Wow".[1] WIKIPEDIA

Wow, this is crazy. I’m very familiar with Phyllis Hyman’s version. And of course the stylistics I’m just discovering this right now I’m 63 and when I was 10 in 1970 I don’t know how I missed this song? I’ll tell you what a well written song.

Its in Eb but the stylistics recording got cranked up to nearly E but just flat of E. Confusing to work out the chords and odd meter timings with it in between keys. Think this was intensionally deceptive like B Joels Piano Man flat of C. Makes it hard to duplicate.

Beautiful song. It has haunted me over the years and I enjoy listening to it now and again. One of the better choices Connie made. May she also choose Jesus as savior before we lose her forever... God bless you my dear.

Sing girl!!!!I first remember hearing this song after going to Pontchartrain Beach in New Orleans for the first time after church on Easter in 1972 or 3.It was the Stylistics version. I had no idea Ms Stevens did it first..And she sounded damn good.I think she is still with us,hope she is well. Also she's like very good looking.😉

Actually, Connie had a hit titled ‘Sixteen Reasons’ in 1960, and she was the sexy voice saying ‘Kookie, Kookie, lend me your comb’ on that silly hit as well! She still looks great, but she was in at least one or two ‘beach bunny’ movies and was hot as heck!

I only preferred the versions of the stylistics and Prince the backstreet boys not so much although i love them as a boy band growing up in the 90's and I'm not trying to a racist although I'm black myself no matter what certain music 🎵🎶 race or movie 🍿🎥 roles there's certain things to the originals you don't mess with or touch.
