@codykeane6107
@codykeane6107 3 жыл бұрын
They were inside calf kicks from southpaw which are totally different and hurt a lot less, like the leg kick Gathje landed on Khabib when its opposite stances your leg moves with the kick, on the outside your leg takes the full blow and closes your stance. Closing stance takes away movement, you don't have the same challenge with outside leg kicks.

We already know Dustin has a KO power but that few seconds of the fight were simply thrown to a barely moving targets. If you really watched the fight you'd give more credit to those calf kicks. They are not even that many compared to other fights and Conor's legs gave out. Dustin beat Conor simply because his arsenal turn out to be more dangerous and Cono4 had to quit. You could definitely make a valid point that Connor was winning the fight up until that point but I think it was Dustins will to win, ring rust, the leg kicks, him being in better shape, and Connor just under estimating his opponent remember he did predict an early ko...

If you think that would have meant he dealt with the calf kicks better, you have absolutely no idea about mixed martial arts. For years mcgregor has be subject to opponents highlighting that as an area to attack but none of his opponents used it to their advantage. The only person Conor fought before this that would have implemented kicks was aldo and my man never got a chance to. @rickybobby38
@rickybobby38 3 жыл бұрын
It's got a lot to do with the Dustin being a southpaw as well, Nate is the only other somewhat relevant southie Conor's fought in the UFC & we all saw the issues he had fighting him. Plus Dustin also has that awkward looking Philly Shell-esque defence, which even Max Holloway comments on during their interim title fight. People have harped on about the calf kicks enough, but that's also a factor in making Conor hesitant to "go in for the kill", because he did test that a few times & got a calf kick for his troubles, and Conor referred to this in the post fight press conference (he knew he had him in trouble several times, but failed to pull the trigger). Also he was checking the calf kicks, he just wasn't doing it with the correct technique all the time, and there were some that foollishly went unguarded.- that damage limited his mobility & reduced his own kicking options, to the point where he literally had to abandon all but the weakest of "leg jabs".

The only fight where he came out of the fight facing some level of adversity was against Diaz and that was a very contentious fight. Diaz isn’t exactly an elite fighter either, the dudes almost got as many losses as he does wins, he’s not exactly the best of a division. Once Conor faces adversity against high level opponents he bottles it, because he only knows plan A and he doesn’t have a plan B. He’s not built for a plan B in fact, I think he knows that deep down. @@damonlillard3097 That was a LONG time ago. It's clear that Porier was not as evolved as a fighter back then than he is now. There was a whole different mentality coming into this fight. Conor was too confident in his boxing and overlooked everything else. He didn't counter punch efficiently, he was the one on the attack. He doesn't have huge power, it's heightened by his timing and speed of the counter punches. And his legs definitely need conditioning, Dustin found a weak point in his game that he'll need to fix for the rematch, otherwise others will exploit it like Gaethje.
