Nah, Poirier would have submitted him or finished him like the 2nd fight. Let's be real, at the pace McGregor was throwing leg kicks, that 1st round was all he was ever going to contribute. He doesn't have the cardio to keep that pace going. The big difference in this fight was how quickly McGregor backed up and went for the clinch when he felt Poirier landing, that tells you that he wasn't comfortable with the power and had that lingering fear from how the previous fight ended.

@@mart4414 right on. I mean, why do people think Conor, one of the best strikers in the sport, went for the clinch? It’s obvious he felt the pop in Dustin’s punches and started panicking. Otherwise, he would’ve traded with him but he showed he didn’t have that confidence, not against Poirier anyways.

People are so caught up in which “side” they’re on, or what team they’re rooting for, that they don’t fully pay attention to the fight. I honestly think McGregor was doing pretty well. The “ground and pound” looked cool, but if you play close attention to the ones that landed, there weren’t that many. I think if this fight had gone the distance, it would’ve been one of the greatest fights ever.

@Uka Kazor dude, think it's better if you stick to anime cause fighting analysis isn't your cup of tea so don't try it. Jake is bigger but that's about it. Conor would wreck him in mma and would outbox him big time. And are you serious about conor losing to him in a no holds barred fight? Conor has excellent distance management and wrestling is good to beat guys of same size but striking is better because it only takes one good punch to the jaw or a good head kick which knocks out even a bigger guy. In wrestling at least the bigger guy and out muscle his way but in striking he can't. Jake won't be able to match him in striking and will overextend leading himself into a head kick or a straight punch.

If you can’t see how McGregor replicates the punches he throws in training and in a fight you’re blind. The difference from the first fight to the third is unbelievable. The term “stuck in the mud” stands out no end. I’d avoid them myself. The pop is gone, that snap he had has vanished. Should have changed trainers years ago. In fact it’s the trainers should have changed fighters

Connors problem is that he burns out too fast in the first two rounds. Dustin , knows this so that’s why he waits for Connor to throw out all his energy and finish him off in the later rounds. Connor was still ready to rock and roll once getting up just before that ankle snapped. Yeah his performance in their second fight was poor, but the 3rd fight was decided by injury vs any kind of a clear win. Connor looked like he did in their first fight and it was definitely giving Dustin trouble in the stand up, and he almost choked him on the ground as well.

I won't lie i thought Connor was doing well in the beginning,up until Dustin caught and ground and pounded him i thought Connor was doing well I feel he would've won if it had gone to distance and he hadn't sprained his ankle Those leg kicks were landing, the pace was good to some extent and when Dustin took him to the ground he had him in a pretty good choke hold before Dustin got out and i give credit to Connor because the man was out of the octagon for a while, has probably had only one fight a year and had no reason AT ALL to keep fighting because at this point his not doing it for the money or relevancy his doing it for the passion, his already relevant enough with Jake Paul trying to be him and him being one of the best fighters,he could've just stuck to whiskey but no he decided to fight a man who's been very consistent and did pretty well to some extent I don't carevwhat y'all say about Connor this man is one of the best fighters and when he lost you could tell that after the sprained ankle his body couldn't fight but his mind was still in the fight and that should tell everything about McGregor that win or lose a fight isn't over until he wins,he never quits Why do you think he re-matched Diaz,or is still talking shit to khabib,or re-matched Dustin after he lost their second fight Connor McGregor was,is and will always be one of the greatest fighters to walk the earth, he'll be remembered amongst the greats!

Conor is strongest in round one, and he were on the ropes in the first.. So why would people assume second or third would be better? I like Conor, but this fight was not going his way at all, yes he might had been able to land something significant scoring a TKO/KO in later rounds, though highly unlikely. Dustin pressure too strong, for Conor, and Dustin is not a 1 round type of guy, he excels in later rounds and wars, Conor doesn't have the heart or the gas tank. Conor should have stayed in 145, all along, built a legacy in that division.

Lmao this comment is so cap, “the fight wasn’t going his way at all” why? He was doing really well and then in the last minute and a half he was on the ground taking a ground and pound that barely landed anything lmao? I don’t even root for the guy but this is straight hate, Conor is and was more than capable of winning, one round never determines a fights outcome no matter what (and it wasn’t that bad of a round at all) we’ve all seen Dustin get KOd with some weak shots, and almost die at the end of a round if there was 20 more seconds left in it to Dan Hooker, you make out Dustin to be some killer but in reality he’s average with his Swang and bang methods, and as soon as he comes up against someone that’s more technical or someone with a game plan he crumbles and Charles showed that ✌🏼

If it was anybody except mcgregor that would not have been a 10-8. He landed a ton of heavy leg kicks, cracked poirier twice, had a submission attempt, landed a big up kick and some nice elbows and a lot of the ground and pound was bouncing off mcgregors arms and shoulders. He didn’t even have a bruise on his face Also the blood dripping from his ear was from a training session you can actually see the cut at the weigh ins. Dustin absolutely won that round but to say Connor didn’t have any moments at all it’s just pure bias he definitely lost the round But Connor seems to have pretty good defense from the bottom when Khabib was going absolutely crazy in round two of their fight conor should’ve looked like a bloody pulp and all he had was this tiny little bruise under his eye I don’t know I think people need to take damage or lack of into consideration
