I connected immediately with your channel name.... To me, Fun and Mandarin just go together so well! 😁 Definitely intrinsically motivated... 😂 Your point about over relying on the technology is well taken. I've gotten my best experience by trying to predict the meaning of the word, phrase or sentence before I look it up in the online dictionary or Google Translate. Definitely not giving up on my language learning journey... 👍🏽👍🏽加油

Problem is immersing yourself in the language, at least when it comes to listening, as finding a language exchange partner can be difficult, because of different time zones for most of europe for example. Learning the characters and finding patterns is also really helped by writing them down, because you involve the muscles in your hands AND your eyes as opposed to writing only pinyin on a keyboard or touchscreen. When you start to write the characters down you'll notice radicals that you didn't even know were there when you just learned the pinyin and the characters only by eye and ear. Another great video!

You’re absolutely right! Creating an immersive environment for learners who are not in Mandarin-speaking countries certainly requires more effort. As for finding a language exchange partner, you may consider exploring Mandarin communities in your city or connecting with international students proficient in Mandarin who are also seeking language exchange opportunities. I’ve seen quite a few posts on social media looking for language exchange partners, though it's important to be cautious regarding safety and potential scammers. (sorry if I sound paranoid 😅) Personally, I prefer connecting with language exchange partners through friends I know and trust :) Thanks for sharing your own experience with us! This is a brilliant point you've made about active writing - practicing with awareness of the features of Chinese characters (e.g. radicals, components, and structural relations) will make the practice meaningful and effective! I’m really pleased to know you have been doing this, and I believe you have been making good progress steadily! I wish you all the best on your Mandarin journey, and thanks again for your support of our channel. 有你真好!

If I learn Mandarin as well as you speak English I will be so pleased. I am learning so I can visit China and at least carry on simple conversations with native Chinese people and watch Chinese dramas without depending on English subtitles.

Thanks for your kind words:) and I'm still working on it-language is such a lifelong journey! With your clear learning objectives and motivation, I believe your goal is definitely achievable! By the way, there's an upcoming episode about survival phrases for traveling on my list (the release date is not confirmed yet though😅). I hope you'll enjoy it when it comes out.

Chinese is too hard for most purposes. Do not waste your time. The audience is to concentrated. Learn English: it is the defacto world language.

So are you saying native English speakers shouldn’t bother learning any other languages because they already speak, as you put it, the “defacto world language”? As a native English speaker learning Mandarin, I can confidently say 你说了这么蠢的话!
