The Vicky2 mod for this is when Victoria 2 finally clicked for me. Will always hold a special place in my heart for that reason alone.

If you want an explanation for your barracks not recruiting new men, it all has to do with qualifications and literacy. Higher tiers of infantry require higher amounts of officers who are basically required to be literate and your provinces did not have enough qualified servicemen. This is one of the main reasons that investing in education and universities are important (next to tech).

I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone mention the Leviathan trilogy, it’s a really good series.

Leviathan was an awesome book series. Read that as a kid as well. Books also had very neat artwork inside.

Glad you’ve finally played some divergences of darkness (thats the vic 2 name). shame the vic 3 version doesnt have as much alt history explanations in the game as vic 2. I’ll watch after I study tho! I suggest either a Scandinavia game because of how many expansion routes you have or a mughals into India game because you have the final bosses of the DM, Burgundy, and Scandinavia to kick out of India.

i think your problem with the army fulfillment should be about qualification. you have a lot of population on the state, but they should be mostly peasants, not officers. to increase the qualification of the pops you would need more literacy and universities.

Laith (or anyone who likes alternative history) should check out The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson. Basically, the Plague in Europe has a much higher mortality rate, so most of Europe is destroyed. The Ottomans become way more decadent quickly since they have a free expansion westwards, Andalusia retakes Iberia, China and India become the two major global powers, and the Middle East changes completely without Christianity having a power base. The novel follows a group of people that basically get reincarnated over and over in this new world. It's so fascinating because the axes of power across the world change, but people still stay the same. Imagine an inquisition in Andalusia, a Chinese colonial West Coast, a world war between China and the Mughals (with massive populations), or an industrial revolution in mesopotamia. It's a great read and taught me a ton!

truly a better timeline in this mod would love to see more of it

They should have given to Victoria 3 the hearts of iron 4 war system. That would have allowed a more aggressive early game instead of being forced to snowball and start conquering online in the second final part of the game... when the lag makes the conquering even less satisfying. It's the exact contrary of EU4. On EU4 conquest and warfare it's the main aspect and economy and development are very secondary factors. On Victoria 3 conquest and warfare are very secondary and economy and development are deeper factors.

I would just really like a Vic 3 game where you play as a medium sized power and go for a high living standard (democracy is optional), steal the major powers colonies and eclipse all their economies, liberating countries out of them and incorporating their former subjects into your market. divide and conqueror, -split up the major powers and conqueror them economically.. A game where you end not just as the nr: 1 major power, but all the other major powers are now minors compared to you.

It is day 149 since I asked you to do the challenge with Croatia in VIC 3 but in one of the videos, a good person named Andraip (Thanks for all the help) said it has a few flaws so it's time to correct them. So when you start playing as Croatia you have 15 years to get your independence, after that you cannot ally, get in a defensive pact, and you cannot be under any kind of protection and you must rival these powers as soon as possible: Austria, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Ottomans, and all nations from the Italian boot. You also must embargo all those nations and cannot enter their custom union nor can they enter yours. You cannot be in an alliance with any of the top 10 nations, including a defensive pact custom union, or protectorate, but you can trade with them. AI must be put on the default settings in case it isn't. If you ally let's say Portugal, and later on they get into the top 10, you must break the alliance. You also must stay monarchy all the time. Form the Danubian state with Croatia following these rules. (FYI incase I didn't make it more specific, you cannot join anybody's custom union you must always at all times have your own market)
