I loved this game as a kid. The music from the second level is one of my standards on piano and a great example of pentatonic music.

I'm glad that I finally got a cartridge of Conquest of the Crystal Palace last year. I have some major nostalgia for this game from playing it at a rec center as a kid. Man, I had some good taste as a kid... Awesome game and awesome review!

I had this game and loved it when I was a kid. This is one of the games that often shows up on “hidden gems” lists, and rightfully so. But people tend to rewrite history and claim that nobody knew about it when it came out, but I knew many friends who had it. Same with “Shatterhand” and “Kabuki Quantum Fighter,” these were popular games, but a lot of retro game KZfaqrs act as if these were obscure titles that nobody realized were good at the time. We knew!

I like the addition of the title screen/attract mode playing in the background.

Sweet, this is what I used the Nintendo Class Action Lawsuit coupon for back in the day. Thank you for bringing this classic back to the limelight. Also, the Select Button was used in part of an in game cheat system while simultaneously pressing the Directional pad.

It's funny to see Felix the Cat in the background. This game might feature a very good dog in a NES game but Felix the Cat features the coolest cat in any NES game.

I really like this video. Dog love is so great to behold! I'm glad to be introduced to this NES game also. The way the doggie helps out reminds me of hours spent in Hyrule with Wolf Link at my side attacking baddies with me. I'm also associating to the negative comments video where someone says something wildly inappropriate and you cut to Lily turning her head slightly sideways in confusion. That one always cracks me up! Oh, and I got Arcade Spirits in the mail today and it's wonderful. I think I remember you liking it in a video. The song that played when I first went to the strip mall got me high because it sounded like it could've been in Paradise Killer. Thanks for another fun video Pam!

It really is to bad you miss out on the New Gameboy Color games like POWA! and Super Jetpak DX and Gameboy DMG titles like Dragon Born and Where is my Body? Gamebox Systems is selling a Consolizer kit for Color gameboy but I play on my Ali-Express Retroad 5 Plus with the GB/GBC Extension Converter. 7" Screen with HDMI out region free and 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio. Gameboy Player on gamecube is a great way to play too. I bought the ROM for Super Jetpak DX for my GB Everdrive X7 and will get POWA! when I can afford it along with the new secret MD game from Water Melon.

I remember seeing this at the video store for rental when I was a kid and debated hard on renting it, but never did. Looks like I missed out on a good childhood memory by passing this one up. (Also did this with River City Rampage)

I think this is one of the better-known "hidden gems" for the system, alongside stuff like Clash at Demonhead and Little Samson, but seeing as how my favorite games on the NES are just this type of actioney sidescroller, I love seeing more people review it, talk about it and just shine the spotlight on it (^-^) Every review will expose it to new people. If it weren't for reviews like this, I never would've discovered those games, or stuff like Moon Crystal, Power Blade, Metal Storm, Layla: The Iris Mission, Banana Prince, Zen Intergalactic Ninja... just so many games I would've missed if not for great KZfaq channels covering them. Great job letting more people about Crystal Palace - it really is a gem that more people should check out on emulators or multi-carts these days.

Oh boy, alongside with Sword Master, Conquest of the Crystal Palace is one of my favorite games on NES. I made an article many many years ago about this game, and found the "continue" screen very original, at the point that when I wanted to give up, I ended up continuing only for not to leave my dog helpless . On a side note, I recommend you to play the Japanese "Mitsume ga Tooru" (the final boss is pretty impressive). Thanks for the video and Happy Valentine's day.

Really great video Pam, I have a profound love for this game. I remember renting the game on weekends around 1990. I didn't finished the game until late 90' playing on a emu! Overall, I like almost everything about the game. But when you get hit is really annoying!✌️🙂

I bought this game about 10 years ago and my opinions about it are practically a carbon copy of what you think. Sometimes this amazes me too much. The only detail is that I have not yet managed to defeat the boss of scene 4, because this particular scene is too difficult for me and I don't like to use the cheat that gives you all the items. On the other hand, in scene 2 I didn't know about that special item you mention. Thanks for that. By the way, I also choose the crystal to jump high ; ^)
