Anyone subscribing to the notion that "rock is dead" hasn't yet been exposed to Turnstile. The Baltimore act is injecting new life into rock music by refusing to bow to any conventions, whether on the stage or in the studio.
On the occasion of Turnstile being named our Heavy Band of the Year, singer Brendan Yates checked via video Zoom to speak with Heavy Consequence about the group's stellar Glow On album, their incredible live shows, and they're genre-defying mindset.

I must be honest. I’ve been writing and performing music for years. I am very satisfied with most of the works my brothers and Myself have created together in these three bands and with our albums. Turnstile has influenced me into a new FREEDOM. Vocally, lyrically, hence Musically. I love their works of art and I really love their style and talent all around. Thank you TURNSTILE for keeping it real and goovin like a Calico-cat! Do your thing and be free. Share your music and bring as many human beings together in peace without politics. Let those old fools (far left/far right/Rhinos/Deep State Fools/Criminals) fall as we rise and become one as we create a human race full of love, respect, Patience, compassion and pride in our country freedoms and globe.

Turnstile definitely deserves more exposure. Glow On is brilliant! They have great musical sensibilities which is apparent by their masterful blending of different musical genres in each song. I haven't been this excited by a band since early in AFI's career. I just hope they don't follow AFI's path and descend into being a mediocre adult alternative band because Turnstile's energy right now is on fire! 🔥🔥🔥

i love turnstile, i wish they would open up a bit more in interviews. can’t blame em for not liking them but i am yet to seen one where they’re really enthusiastic to be talking about the music.

They're introverts, they've never been outspoken. All very modest, humble, and regular dudes that let their music and energy do the talking.
