In this video we will explain conservation of mechanical energy using one of the excellent simulation from PhET interactive simulations. The simulation is entitled Energy Skate Park Basics. We will review kinetic energy, potential energy, total mechanical energy and conservation of energy before presenting a detailed explain of how mechanical energy is conserved in a closed system. At the end of the video we will go over three examples for calculating the energy of the skater at various point in the track.

Hello Thankyou for your valuable time to educate people. I have been watching several times of your series with regards to the EMF . I have one question : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q9t5o69qydjRoaM.html In the above link : if the area of the COIL is bigger than the Area of the Magnet : Induced VOLTAGE is going to be the same ? I really appreciate if you could give an answer. Thanks in advance. Dinna

Hello I asked the above question cause. I have seen most of the motors coil loop is bigger than the magnet. I really appreciate if you could explain this. Kind regards, Dinna

I am not sure that I understand your question because the way I see it the coil (the red rectangle) is smaller then the area of the magnetic field (inside the blue square), or am I missing something??

@@stepbystepscience Thank you for your reply : sorry for the confusion . The Question is : If the (RED RECTANGLE - Coreless coil ) is larger than then ( BLUE square - MAGNET ) then --- > induced voltage going to be the same or different ?

@@dinnade9338 good question, I would have to say that if the coil is bigger than the magnet then the induced voltage would be less. But of course the field from the magnet goes on forever, but if the magnet is small and the coil is very large than you would have to imagine that the induced voltage would be less than if the coil was the same size as the magnet. How does that sound?

@@stepbystepscience - Thank you for your time. I did 2 practical experiments. 1. same length of coli : 2. magnet is smaller than the coil 3. Core height same 20mm Experiment 1 : wound the coil with big space in the middle. - 250 turns Experiment 2 : wound the coil with very small space in the middle. -318 turns both produce the same voltage @ RPM 600 . In this case, I realized length is the key factor. Do not understand why turns and length both included in the "Magnetic Field Coil" equation. Any ideas ? Thanks a lot for reading the comments and reply to the questions ... Have a wonderful day ... Dinna
