Consistency Index which is also called Relative Consistency indicates the consistency of soil that is firmness of a soil. We represent consistency index by IC and it is defined as the ratio of the difference between the liquid limit and the natural water content of the soil to its plasticity index.

in some references the CI has different formula it is given as CI=(LL-w)/(LL-PI)

Correction: the denominator of the consistency index is Plastic Limit and not Plasticity Index.

It's Liquid limit- Plastic limit which is plasticity index
