Seeing this video again years later, I realize my view on it has changed quite a bit. I originally thought this video was a lesson of how important it is to take risks and live life without regrets. Obviously the first life is meant to be the ultimately dull life, and the second is shorter, but since he had 5 hearts and didn't want to do it over in the end, it must've been a life worth living right? Now I'm not so sure. I actually think both lives sucked in the end (at least as presented). Trying hard to fit into normality, and never taking any risks, probably leads to a boring life, likely to be full of regrets. Especially if you're a self-reflective person. But leading life by following solely selfish pleasures (a stereotypical fantasy of being both a successful rebel and a celebrity) is likely to be equally dull in the long-term. I say "likely" because getting rich (besides nepotism) is a thing that only a minority experiences, but most of them are not happy solely from being rich. Robbin Williams is a primary example of that. And exercising drug and sex addictions like the second guy seemed to do, are mostly an attempt to soothe distress - in other words, you're not really happy when you're exercising addictions. He was a musician, so maybe that was his passion, but it seemed to me like it was more important that he was a rich celebrity, giving the middle-finger to consequences. So in the end, I'm inclined to believe that this life was neither really a happy life. In addition, it's very unlikely that someone could successfully do that many crimes without facing any legal consequences. I've experienced that the most happy lives are lead through exercising passion and pursuing healthy and active social relations. Also by prioritizing living in the present. I think that's about as simple as it can be put. You certainly don't have to be a pushover to be happy pursuing that. Ultimately I think the view of this video is slightly distorted. There are plenty of other healthy ways to view the world than narrow individualism. Caring deeply about others, and putting an effort into making them happy, is one thing that gets deeply underestimated for those who view the world that way. Sometimes, it's even seen as a weakness. And I think that's about as disturbing as it gets. Regardless, I still find this art piece moving. It's very well done.

This is a really cool video, and must have been a lot of work for one person to do. The way the music is in sync with the animation is impressive. However, I don't see how anyone could fail to be disturbed by the storyline. The guy in the first life lives fairly typical, "dull" as the animator puts it. This character who does no apparent wrong, lives a meager, menial, dull life, and is basically shat on by his woman, and ends up dying alone. He dies and transcends to another dimension, realizing the dimension of life is a game. He decides to play again and live a more exciting life.... .except his more exciting life is a life of crime and drugs. This character decides to skip school, and instead gets rich robbing, then super rich playing some guitar, smashes a cop car without consequence, and gets a harem of women to pleasure him. Then he overdoses on something, dies, and decides to not "play" life anymore, and instead transcends to a yet higher dimension of pure light that is of incomprehensible quality. I don't see how anyone could fail to be disturbed by this. What is the creator trying to say? That life is a game, so it doesn't matter if you steal? It's like the creator is saying that it actually makes more sense to steal because clearly there are more rewards, and no consequence. In fact, the annotation used at 9:00 is "karma". Karma? In the scene where the bike store manager gets robbed? That's karma? Robbing your employer of a past life, at gunpoint, is karma. Robbing the person who paid your way through your whole life is described as karma. This makes me wonder if the person who made this animation is criminally minded, and somehow convinces himself that wrongdoing is ok.... or this person has a very poor sense of what karma is, and a warped sense of entitlement and work ethic. Basically, a criminally minded work ethic. Anyway, after this life of stealing, there is no consequence for the soul whatsoever. In fact, he freely chooses to to beyond everything to a heavenly place. How does this make sense? So is the creator saying that it's ok to steal because nothing matters, life is a game, and even if you do steal, it doesn't matter because when you die, you just become a free spirit and can choose to enter heaven at that point? WHAT THE HELL, +Febersyn ! Explain yourself.

***** wrote, "Telling a story like this doesn't tell us a lot about the writer" Say what!? Of course it does. Of course ones work and/or art can tell us about a person. I see he used a truck with the chemical formula for psylocybin, and had Terrence Mckenna in the video. I'm pretty sure this tells me that febersyn is in to psychedelics. ***** "my take on it is that it's merely guessing what happens when we die. I think it says that no matter where we start or end in life, we all end up in the same place, and even when we do good or bad things, we end up getting robbed by the big boy named "life", and at the end of the day our soul is pure and clean." Yeah.... that's exactly what I was taking issue with, and found disturbing. I find it disturbing that some people supposedly think that the soul is "pure" and clean, no matter what we do..... almost as if the soul is not the same thing you are, and no matter what you do has no effect on the soul, and no matter what you do, everything will be fine when you die. The soul is supposed to be the one playing the game. There are actually a lot of accounts of people who have near death experiences, have a life review, and suddenly experience a great deal of empathy they did not experience in life. They experience the shitty things that they did to people from the other person's perspective, and feel the pain of the other. I think if there is some "pure soul", it is not an automatic thing that we are guaranteed and gifted at death without being worthy of it in some way, or experiencing some kind of atonement. The shitty things we do probably come back to us at some point. But that concept is not shown in this video. The guy just robs and lives recklessly with zero consequence..... except over indulging and cutting his own life short. But that's not even a punishment really when he apparently just ascends to even more glorious dimensions at will. The way the video presents things, it is as if life is just some silly diversion for the soul. The soul doesn't have to play, it was floating up towards pure white light of highest greatness, and got distracted by the game, and is dickering around.... but it can choose to leave it all behind and ascend to greatness any time, no matter how it plays the irrelevant game of life. What I'm saying is that in reality, I think it's highly likely that the soul will be held accountable for how it conducts itself in life. This life and the existence of the soul are not separate, so that what we do here has an effect on the soul. But the video presents life as if it is irrelevant to soul, except as a game in which the events are of no consequence to the soul whatsoever. ***** wrote, "That's not saying Lasse condone or encourage a criminal life, I'd say that statement is fairly ignorant on your part." I said I wonder if he has a criminal mindset. And no I don't think it is actually far off to say that this video encourages a criminal life because it doesn't show any consequences to it, while the non criminal guy is portrayed as sad and pathetic. I'm not saying that Febersyn is encouraging people to be criminals. However, if we look at the story presented in this video, it seems to show the potential benefits of criminality, and the pit falls of being typical. I can't say I see anything in the video that DISCOURAGES a criminal life. I think it is fair to suggest the video is on some level, of an endorsement of criminality. What is there to suggest otherwise? ***** wrote, "I only wish there was a detail that showed that the rocker version was just as or if not more lonely as the day-to-day-nine-to-five-worker guy, because that's what I think he was, to be honest." Well there isn't any hint of that in the video because that is not how febersyn wanted to portray the rocker version, in contrast to the other guy. It isn't a mistake. It's not a mistake that the rocker got 5 hearts in his life, and the normal guy was left with one broken one. Or that the rocker never stops gaining money too fast to count, while not working, and getting bj's ... while the normal guy never has more than a thousand, and worked most of his life. This portrayal is done on purpose. What this is supposed to say about life is debatable. Maybe febersyn is saying that life isn't fair, so do whatever you want. Maybe he IS endorsing criminality, maybe not. But one thing is for sure, he does seem to suggest that no matter what you do, your soul ends up the same, and hints that we may be able to just ascend to higher dimensions, and choose not to play the game of life.... as if how we play the game of life has no bearing on what happens in the other dimension. That is what I find disturbing. He does seem to be saying that life or death does not matter to the soul, it is just a game, so you can do whatever you want.

Man, what a film. I described these two possible lifetimes as two lifes possible to live: one life who takes it casual like any average man and a major event that changed him to a more depressed man, and eventually dies of old age. The other a more fast-paced hardcore typical start for a youngster that led him to an obviously major event that changed his life to a more lucrative and enjoyable lifestyle, yet tragically ends it foolishly. Makes you think.
