Ever have a tough grader? This is one of those subs. Please keep in mind that I don't look at the grades. This is a raw reaction to seeing them for the first time. A lot of time and effort went into acquiring the cards in this sub. In my opinion it could have been one of the best returns put together. Sadly, it was not.
After looking at the cards more closely, I can understand why some cards did not get a higher grade. Although, I still believe this was a tough grader all around. It'd be nice if grading was easy and every submission was a home run, but we don't always get flowers on Valentine's Day. Has this happened to you? Do you agree with my reaction in the video? Beautiful sub man! I think this happens more often than it should. I think the most frustrating part is that you have no power in these situations and just have to take it. If the cards were damaged, they won't admit to that now. If they were graded incorrectly, you have to pay out to the same company that was incompetent to regrade. The OC cards were an obvious failure on the grader, especially if more than 1 person gave those same grades...

A lot of those cards clearly deserved 9's, especially the pack fresh copies. Sometimes it seems like PSA is doing artificial population control for WOTC Era cards PSA really dropped the ball on this submission and you have every right to be frustrated with them. Sorry that happened to you. Future submissions will be better. Stay positive even when things get tough. Thank you for sharing your submissions with us!

I agree with you. Some of my returns have the long indent on the bottom of the cards. I know I didn’t make them and would’ve have seen it before submitting.

I sent out a heart clefairy thinking it would get a 7 or 6 and it came back a 3. Made me think they graded the ink blob as damage and not a misprint. Also those off center cards not getting an OC or MC qualifier is outrageous.

Super rough to watch. I saw a bunch of other cards in the video that looked like they might've had that scratch in the left corner you were talking about. Hopefully you can get compensated if they damaged that at PSA. Thanks for sharing, was very informative to watch!

Wow thats crazy! Those lines on the back side couldn't have been a coincidence. The fact that almost the exact same length and shaped line is on 3 cards that your sourced from 3 different places. Also at the 7:54 mark, that Expedition Mew seems to have the exact same line! I'd be pissed man, I totally understand your frustration.

Those lines are on the case itself, I have the same line on numerous PSA cases. The first time I saw it, I moved the card horizontally and made sure it wasn't on the card.

I've seen the same thing from basically every other submission video in the last couple months. PSA have scarified their quality for quantity and hired hundreds of unqualified employees from Mc Donalds to meet demand with their grading service. These new employees not only don't handle the cards correctly (causing damage) but they also don't give a damn about actually looking at the cards they grade. They just want to get paid and go to lunch. I hope PSA read some of these comments and start making some BIG changes soon.

That's honestly really disheartening, yet again some of the nicest cards I've seen getting berated. Something about PSA's grading "system" (if you can even call it a system) has always seemed fishy, I wish you the best in your next returns!

This video is tragic to watch but thank you for sharing it. I don't think I could ever trust anyone else with my cards, they look great in toploaders and are also it seems much safer that way.

Damn this is sad. I am sorry you had to endure this, hopefully PSA can in some way rectify something with you. I was thinking of sending in some of my super rare errors into PSA someday (stuff like holosplotch shadowless zard, sealed matrix, no damage ninetales, other rare errors) and now I don't want to, I think I might consider cgc/bgs for these, but then again I am fearful of damages like this video showed. Breaks my heart to see that. Hope your next submission goes better.

I'm so sorry to see this . . . truly one of the most inconsistent and effortless attempts at grading I've seen from PSA in my 12+ years grading. Your disappointment and frustration are totally justified.

I sent in 13 WOTC back in December and couldn't believe most of the grades I got. They graded a lot lower then I was expecting. I felt the exact pain as this video. Made me question almost everything about PSA. So I decided to do a test run and sent in 2 Zards from 99' and 2000. My theory is that the grader just flips through all the cards they can to hit their daily goal. So I figured if they only have to look at 2 cards, they'll actually look at them and not zip through a bulk sub. They're in grading stage right now, so fingers crossed for the best!

I've heard their receiving department are a bunch of newly hired kids fresh out of high school/start of college. They treat it like an average warehouse job at harbor freight. They aren't careful with the boxes and don't know how to properly handle cards with care before they reach the graders. They alternate breaks and go behind the large garage door in receiving, taking turns hitting their THC echo vape pens before going back to work. The receiving department is not professional and by the time it reaches the graders, it's too late.

Regardless of this being kind of a depressing video I appreciate you uploading this. I have 2 returns im opening next week with friends and we usually try to keep grades a surprise. We have 7 gem mint confirmed the rest are 9 or less mostly 8. Out of a 50 and a 48 card submission. 90% are pack fresh. Only 8 wotc pack fresh cards and maybe 10 mid era pack fresh and the rest are modern pack fresh. I am going to be on the look out for similar damage now.

I recently submitted 13 of my Base set holos from when I was a kid. I received three 9s, three 8s, four 7s, two 6s and a 4. And honestly with the condition they're in, I kind of agree with the grades. The only one I'm upset about is my Shadowless Alakazam getting a 6. It has a crease on the back, upper right corner that I'm pretty sure wasn't there. I do think population control is a thing PSA participates in. Though my cards weren't pack fresh so I was okay with most the grades.

Crazy those miscuts didn’t get a qualifier. As much as I agree PSA is the way to go, they are so inconsistent with their OC/MC grades, probably better off value-wise to send to CGC

I've bought several PSA 9's that have surface damage recently (the photos didn't show the damage upon purchasing). I'm not sure what's happening with the quality control. I've seen someone on reddit post about the corners to their cards being roughed up as well after returning from PSA like yours, it’s very bizarre. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I just got back 15 1st edition neo gen holos and gym challenge holos that i sent off in 3 different small submissions. They were perfectly centered and no print line or holo scratches and no whitening. They all got 9's and then on the two cheapest cards of the lots which are giovanni's nidoking and erika's dragonair they got 10's. They are 100% not giving out highest grades to any of the most expensive cards.

I had submitted three different times in the last 4 months and PSA is definitely grading stricter on vintage cards. In my opinion they are being very strict with holo scratches. I have been getting 7s on cards that have very good centering, clean corners and edges but have some minor holo scratches. But in the other hand if the holo is super clean but the corner has some whitening I have been getting 9s on those cards. We will see if this trend continues or if their standard changes this year.

To me it seems that in the process of psa “expanding” they rapidly hired ppl that weren’t properly trained or lack of knowledge of the hobby in general it’s frustrating and I understand ur frustration completely

Something is definitely going on here guys. I just got another return yesterday and it was objectively under graded. I’ve also noticed some scary weird stuff with a card here and there returning with seemingly damage that wasn’t there before

Those line are the absolute worst, PSA needs to step up it's game regarding quality control. I'd be devastated if I got the mint cards I sent in back with new damage in an 8.

I'm positive PSA damaged the moltres and dark charizard. That is some bs! Make sure to look closely and see if that line/dent on back of those 3 cards is actually on the slab itself or not. You need to regrade that dark blastoise and probably those OC cards, this grader has no idea what hes doing.

I have always been one to stick up for PSA for many years, but the inconsistency is definitely happening right now. A recent sub I received back had some very questionable grades. It is just very frustrating.

You said at the beginning this was from a July sub and I feel like anecdotally many people had some issues with July subs on harsher grading and potential damage to cards. Obviously no proof for either of those and inconsistency is the name of the game for grading companies but I would say your frustration is warranted here

I grade cards with all 3 services and comics with cgc and cbcs. Here’s a tip: When a company is grading harsh switch to another. I recently had a stunning pack fresh 1st edition shining charizard come back a 7 from psa. I cracked it and sent to bgs. It came back a 9 with 3 9.5’s! I then crossed it to psa again and they labeled it a 9. Right now cgc is giving favorable grades so get the 9 or 9.5 with cgc and cross over with psa. Yes crossing over can be expensive but the price between a 7 and a 9 on a vintage card is often thousands. This is a trick a ton of dealers do. If psa rejected the crossover simply crack it Good luck

I have similar issues, don't know why psa starts to grade a lot harsh from the December holiday special. And most of my psa 8 and 9s have similar damages on the back of the card.

I had a submission go the same way. Got almost all 8’s, and the cards were in wildly different condition. Watched the same thing happen to CTR. Maybe PSA has one grader doing this and he did all 3 of our subs?

I’ll never send errors to PSA again. They’re so bad with them. I recently got back 2 OC cards, 5 and a 6. They’re going to CGC now, they’ve got so much support for errors.

You have to remember, PSA has gone through so many changes in the last 3 years. These graders are pushing thousands of cards a day just to catch up on orders. I’m still waiting on 50 bulk submission from their 2022 July promo. I’ve seen so many people receive theirs back already but yet I’m not even close to getting my cards back. 😢

That pile of 8s just tells me either a person wanted to go for the night and just slapped 8s across the board or some ai just got the sub an over all average and slapped 8s on them.. All i know is half of those looked better than some 9s and 10s i own.. Haven't graded with psa since 2018 and probably won't ever again.. If i really want a 10 I'll just buy it and will sell most of what i own raw at this point.. The risk/reward + wait does not seem worth it anymore.

What is frustrating from my understanding, at least 2 graders are supposed to be grading the cards blindly. They do not know each others grades, and if their grades do not correlate a 3rd grader is supposed to look at them. You would think this would take the inconsistencies out if this was their process, but I feel like only 1 grader is grading cards these days.

Those were beautiful cards that seemed to have been (as you said) recklessly graded… I think you should resubmit cards such as Blaine’s Moltres, Dark Charizard and others. I just received a return where I thought many would be 6-7s but they came back 8 and 9s??? So i guess it goes both ways but also the damage just seems a little too “coincidental” to me and I think you should take that up with PSA since you are a frequent grader they may want to help you a little more than others. Also you submitted these during their “boom” In services so graders were probably overworked and overwhelmed or inexperienced opting to copy and paste grades at just a glance. This makes me sick for you dude that’s thousands of dollars that PSA is so clearly unconcerned about. I love your channel man!

Most people i know in my country has started to use cgc, not so difficult to understand why after the psa shutdown. I like raw cards, but if grading quality and feedback on each card change in future. I will probably enjoy grading more to. For now it just make the hobby more expensive. The only winner is the grading company, in my opinion. Becouse most people dont care enough, to force changes, improvments and simular grading on same card each time. So we feed the scam. Sadly.

Frustrating one, seemed to be a combination of almost every thing being grade accurately or on the tough side (with nothing in your favor) plus them not giving you the obvious miscut. Appreciate you sharing as always!

Oh man this was hard to watch, ugh. Those are some big cards. English has enough conditional rarity hurdles to clear. But I would hope a non error 5 that should be an error or miscut should still carry a premium for the card it is at least.

Grades looks correct. Corners and whitening on almost al the cards so 8's are correct

You missed the point it seems... When he sent the cards to PSA, there was no whitening... PSA dmgd the cards and turned them into 8s... Peace ✌️

sorry for your frustration.. but let's be honest: you all know how many cards psa knocks through a day. The grader looks at the first card and assigns a grade, and each subsequent card that looks similar gets the same grade. he doesn't have the time to evaluate a card more precisely. however, if there is a set of flattering 10's then psa is great.. 😂

On the Website they explain how the grading procedere works. No Computers involved. Its 2 graders. They both grade the cards. Peace ✌️
