I think this scenario could have either been two waves shorter or they could have spiced those last two waves up somehow. Maybe the Ottomans start getting desperate and throw more units at you, or a random gate gets converted and they come in that way as a nod to what happened historically. Heck even some more side objectives would have been nice. As it stands I was honestly pretty over this scenario by the end.

One other reason why clearing out the enemy camp across the river should be prioritized is that it frees up this reagion to an almost unlimited source of wood that is not subject to enemy attack. In my play through I very quickly sent 8 vils over to chop wood.

I maxed out on catas and arbalest, snipe the siege with the cav, the keeps garrisoned with arbs finish the job, they not even breached the theodosian wall

This mission was marked as hard while the Fetih mission was marked as medium. Totally undeserved, in my opinion. I think Fetih was harder since it was a chase with the clock. I won it on hard after a few attempts and correcting my strategy. Won this mission on my first attempt. And it could have been fun, like the Vortigern scenario where you are basically waiting for the clock to run out and hoping not to lose because you're always at the brink of collapsing, but here, I was steadily growing my forces and repelled each new attempt with more ease, even though they started bringing more stuff, especially bombards more bombards in multiple waves, into the fray. But I didn't know I could build more bombard towers, that would have eased the mission for me significantly, but at the end, I was fielding something like 60 elite fully upgraded cataphracts on each of the 4 gates, had a formidable navy, and was sending my 4 groups of elite cataphracts to sally out when each attack cycle began, and they would wipe everything the Ottomans would send during that 9 minutes period and return back with about half to 3/4 force remaining depending on the gate they fought on. The hardest hit group was always the one at the top gate in the lower of the two outer sections of Constantinople, the Ottoman attack seems to be the hardest by far there. The replenishment forces would be ready even during the Ottoman attack because I was able to create cataphracts constantly, owing to my sizable fishing navy producing a lot of food. In the end, had it not ended due to the time running out, and if I only knew that I could spam bombard towers everywhere, I would have done stuff for the lollz, like wiped out all the Ottoman bases and killed Mehmed or built tons of bombard towers immediately around the Ottoman spawning areas and placed my cataphracts there to wipe them out immediately as they appear or liberated Adrianople and thrown the Ottomans back to Anatolia, or even thrown them out of Anatolia back to central Asia etc.

1:20 You get a bunch of gold for that optional objective. That's nice, but I don't think it makes that much sense with the description of objective that says that your men would fight with more vigor, or something like that. It would make more sense to give extra armour or health to the units.

I'm not sure if the gate being left open is actually a factual thing or something that was brought up later. That said, even if it did, I doubt the city would've lasted much longer anyway. Those cannons were going to destroy the walls eventually, and I doubt the Ottomans really would've run "for good" when it came to the summer heat.
