Construction of the Model Train Layout Märklin H0

This model train layout is based on a layout from 1974. Today there is a very poor film recording from that time and only three slides. After a few years I put the model train in the attic.
After 46 years I finally have time for the old Märklin. I bought the Digital Start package and some tracks and had the old locomotives digitized. It took me 11 months to build the layout.

Einfach wundervoll! Ich habs ähnlich gemacht: Das ganze vor 40 Jahren verpackte Zeug rausgeholt, gesäubert und instandbesetzt (alles funktioniert) und dann aus dem Material das Maximum zu gestalten versucht. Allerdings komplett analog.

Wow - bin emotional voll angetan weil: Mir geht es ähnlich nach über 40 Jahren und wenn ich da einen "Carlsberg" Güterwagen sehe - also das erinnert mich an meinen alten Fleischmann-Wagen aus Blech. Thanks a lot!

I loved to see the footage of 1974. At that time I also owned a Märklin model train layout. At the time I didn't have much space because I still lived at my parents home. A couple of years later I've got a home of my own with a much bigger space. So I started to build my layout. A friend of mine who also had a Märklin layout had mentioned that he was very interested in buying my collection. So I decided to sell him my collection and changed from H0 to N-gauge. The only thing I regret is that I sold him a model of the Swiss Crocodile that my grandfather bought for my when I was 8 years old. Unfortunately my friend died at a very young age but his wife kept his lovely build layout and to my knowledge she still has it. So I will be following your building process and hope you will be able to enjoy it for many years to come. Greetings from the Netherlands.

My story is a bit different. I got a Märklin starter pack when I was seven, and after that every present from my parents had to contain something from Märklin. At the end of high school, I made a layout, after which 46 years later I made the current layout. In the meantime, I had no time, no free room, and no great desire to set up the layout again. After my children left home, the grandchildren came and I retired, it was time for the new version of the same layout. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Greetings from Slovenia, Borut

Hm altes Zeug von 1970 und älter läuft bei mir auch noch. Neue Gleise sind auch dabei ok Was cool ist die Technik klappt noch bei den Filmen von der alten Anlage bin ich bei dir nur ein paar Fotos und paar Aufnahmen mit VHS: Weisste was bei N fällt des net so auf weil sich des Gleissystem kaum verändert hatt Intressantes Video! Nur warum viele englisch schreiben ist mir ein Rätsel .

Schöne nostalgische Anlage. Aber warum hast Du denn als Ansatz eine Spantenbauweise gewählt -- und baust dann trotzdem auf einer Platte.....?!

Super ! Wird Zeit dass ich auch meine alten Märklin-Sachen vom Dachboden hole. Die Anlage gefällt mir sehr gut. Gibt es einen Gleisplan und welche Maße hat die Anlage ?

Una excelente maqueta. Jo también estoy construyendo un circuito mixto como usted. Pero tengo dudas sobre la instalación eléctrica de los semáforos i desvíos. Circulación de las maquinas con Mobile Station 2. Todo lo demás analógico. Podría indicar como ha conectado los cables tanto analógicos y digitales. Si hace solamente a un semáforo y a un desvío creo que es suficiente. Muchas gracias por su atención. Una saludo desde Barcelona. An excellent model. Jo I'm also building a mixed circuit like you. But I have doubts about the electrical installation of the traffic lights and detours. Circulation of the machines with Mobile Station 2. Everything else is analog. Auf meiner Anlage habe ich die Stecker der Schaltschienen von innen in die Buchsen gesteckt; so sind sie nicht sichtbar
