I see at 2:45 they demonstrate with a Goodyear TripleTred Assurance tire. I believe those are still top rated by CU and I have them on one of my cars. They last a very long time and offer good to excellent traction in nearly all conditions (I think ice is the one time they don't do as well although they are good in snow).

Major props to the guy at the 1:33 mark where he uses a torsion bar for the impact wrench (if that's the proper term). Pretty much every tire shop just tighten the lug nuts without the torsion bar which can cause problems with the brake discs.

You did not mention age of the tire Some tires shows cracks after 4 years like Michelin.Hankook after 5 years.I have never seen tires with no cracks after 6 years. I change tires once I see cracks.I drive 6k a year so most likely I have still thread on my tires but you can not get away with cracks.

Hi im looking for some new tires but i dont know much about brands. I've narrowed my options to two, one being lexani. the place i called said they'd be $75 per tire and the other brand was cooper at $100. i've seen a lot of good reviews for cooper brand tires and they're the ones my car came with but i haven't really seen much for lexani. which would you say is a better deal in terms of durability and wear?

They forgot to mention the most critical part the date of manufacture. There should be a four digit number on ur tire that tells you the date it was made from week to year. For example 1618 that means it was made on the 16th week of 2018. Be on the look out because big stores and mechanics love giving out expired old tires.
@Keylimelife

What would be considered expired?
@brendenaerosmithfarr8226
@brendenaerosmithfarr8226 7 ай бұрын
@@Keylimelifetires don’t have an expiration date. They will dry rot as they get old. Depending on the age if they are dry rotted with cracks, time to replace the tire

I buy Waterfall tires. They are the cheapest tires from Walmart and guess what? They are great .......suckers! I buy them all the time now. They are great in rain, they are quiet, they ride smooth and have tons of grip. They wear nicely too. The Company that makes them also makes tires for Pirelli. Cheap tires....can be very good, like Waterfall Eco Dynamic.

Alert about tire rotation. +++ Most often there is little to be gained in tire rotation +++ The expense of tire rotation exceeds the what is saved in tire ware. +++ Todays tires are much better than than were 10 years ago. +++ The cost of 5000 mile rotation is about the cost of 2 brand new tires / over 30,000 miles.

Exactly true. Now they recommend replacing tires around 6 years old even if there's still plenty of tread. Tires dry rot from age.

As someone who worked in a tire shop, go to the seller and ask to see the tires D.O.T. this is the date that the tire was made in factory. It's law to have this on every tire.

The tire tread measure tip isn't with a quarter, it's with a penny ;)
@TheQuickyouknow
@TheQuickyouknow 7 жыл бұрын
Actually a quarter shows you 4/32nd, which is when CR recommends you changing your tires. A penny is 2/32nd which is the legal minimum.

I have questions in regards the tire pressure indication on the sticker found in the door jamb some Vehicles come from Factory with tires that hold a Max 35 PSI but then when the customer four new tires upgrades to a better firmer tire that maxe's at 50 psi for some reason the shop installing the tires still follow the sticker in the door jamb which in my opinion is riding the tires under-inflated which could be a problem is this accurate or am I wrong
@brendenaerosmithfarr8226
@brendenaerosmithfarr8226 7 ай бұрын
It’s better to fill your tires up with the right psi according to the sticker on the door jamb. The manufacturer built the vehicles and knows what pressure the tires have to be at, and the reading on the door jamb is the cold psi. Pressure increases as you drive so don’t fill your tires up to the max pressure it says on the tire cuz once you start driving the tires will heat up, pressure increase and you could blow a tire
@AlexPotvin
@AlexPotvin 9 жыл бұрын
Why do you recommend staying rather than upgrading for the load index and speed rating? I mean, especially when we're talking tires that are often the same price. I don't see much sense in advising sticking to lower spec tires but eh.
5 жыл бұрын
Because generally, the higher you go in speed rating the stiffer the ride gets, cold weather performance gets worse, and the faster the tire wears out. Just because the specs are higher doesn't mean it's better.
@abdulhai93
@abdulhai93 2 жыл бұрын
Well whats the point. The load index and speed rating is based on your vehicles manufavturers recommendation

Tires with long tread life are only worth buying if you drive the high moles in four or five years. Age can destroy a tire before it hits the high miles expected.

You show the test for hydroplaning - but don't say where to look on tire stats for this.. what the ratings scale looks like.. is there a secret code to find this information on a tire?

Need to check tire pressure once a WEEK, OR MORE OFTEN, if tires seem to lose air pressure. Wouldn't recommend Cooper tires, as they seem to lose air pressure within a few days, measuring by a tire gauge we have. Especially on the right front. We own a 2007 Saturn Vue.

Why the hell didn't they talk about the MOST important aspect of buying new tires? Duh! Check the DOT date of manufacture stamped into the sidewall. Selling out-dated 'new' tires is quite common and has caused many accidents and DEATHS! Tires have a total lifespan of only 6 or 7 years and that is INCLUDING time spent in a warehouse regardless of what the tire manufacturers or resellers might say ($$$). It is quite possible to buy a 'new' tire that was actually made 6 years or more ago that is already considered to be an UNSAFE tire by the top auto makers and should not be sold for any price. The tire industry couldn't care less obviously. Buyer beware.

+ComfyShortz Please don't skimp out on cheap tires lol. That small contact between your cars tires and the road can mean the difference between life and death. If there is anything on your car that you shouldn't skimp out on, it would be your tires.. Paying a bit more for better performance tires is worth it!
@ComfyShortz

jukijunk If there was one off brand of tire I trusted it would be Walmarts' Douglas tires. They are produced as extras in the kelly springfield plant right here in Ohio, USA and built to Walmarts specifications. Because Walmart as a major corporation doesn't want wrongful death suits they are made to a very high standard of quality. Price wise they are about on par with any Chinese tire you will find.

Good grief, find someone who is KNOWLEDGEABLE........no mention of the DOT coding on every tire.....any tire over 6-7 years old is dangerous to drive on no matter what the tread depth. USA has no laws to protect ignorant consumers, Europe is light years ahead of the USA in consumer safety regulations.
