So he’s not going to mention spending power of the “consumer” has decreased by 40percent in the last 3 years? Could that cause some “softening”? Can’t mention the obvious can we…

It is interesting that CEOs always blame consumers for not wanting to spend when they raise prices and cut store staff to make a few extra pennies of profit for sale. Let's treat consumers poorly and then blame them when they stop coming to our stores.

yeah or talk about it being a "down" if people begin to behave more prudently. if we as a rule stopped over-leveraging ourselves and invested instead of wasting $ we could completely transform this country in one decade.

@@kylegrant9980 because they play with the metric, even eliminate items that are high inflation, so that what remains is a low number. Most of us know how much prices have changed all around us. Doubling or sometimes tripling of prices over 15 years (since Obama came into office) does not calculate to an average of 4%, it works out to 7-8%.

Americans are facing a cost of living crisis - the increase in prices is way higher than the increase in pay. The US government is like a consumer who has no money or assets and has maxed out all their credit cards - things are going to only get worse.

I won't buy a $200k house for $450k. I won't buy a $20k car for $80k; I'll buy as little $5 gas as I can, and also everything else that's overpriced too. KEEP IT PRICE GOUGERS!!!!!

Even though I plan to stick with it, inflation is wasting my money and my portfolio is losing gains every day, so I need a cure right away. My main concern is how to raise the value of my cash reserve because it has been lying there for a very long time with little to no increases and inflation is currently about 10%.

I know what I want to do now that the market is in decline, but I'm not sure which stocks to buy, which investments would generate the best returns, etc. Due to the risk, the possible benefit is larger, and experts are better at drafting such precise contracts.

In fact, despite having no experience or prior knowledge when I began investing in 2018, by the end of 2019 I had made a profit of over $750k. I had merely been adhering to the advice that my financial counselor had given me. This demonstrates that all you really need is an expert to assist you; you don't even need to be a great investor or put in a lot of work.

Companies don't care if the middle class is broke. That's collateral damage in their mind. They already started to adjust their businesses to provide products to consumers that earn at least $150k/year. Everyone else below that income bracket is considered low margin.

Bill calmly ignores profiteering and extraordinary corporate profits. Companies started paying higher prices for input materials. Passed it through along with an increase to their customer. Supply chain pressures subsided and the sellers kept prices high. I know of one company that doubled its eight figure EBITDA because of this approach.

Amazon is not a monopoly. People buy from Amazon because they have an easy return policy and it’s a one stop shop. If things are too expensive people can always choose to buy elsewhere. Fast delivery is also a key selling point for Amazon. I myself is not willing to wait 2 weeks for an item to be delivered to me….pretty sure others think alike as well.

There's nothing really worth spending on, there's a notable lack of innovation. Everything consumer targetted is only tweaked this year and not worth replacing. People have money. Unless you're going to buy like a tesla or apple vision, there's nothing that provides a brand new or drastically improved experience.

I don't go to Walmart as much as I used to because their products they sale doesn't seem to be the same in quality. There inventory is cheaply made, I ordered a Samsung hdtv 80" also that never got delivered. I told them that I didn't want it because they couldn't get it there on time and they double charged me for it. U can't get anyone to help you and their auto center is pathetic. It takes walmart at least an hour to do a oil change. Then one of my friends walmart oil lube center cracked 2 of her hubcaps and broke the bolt on the wheel. If the employees even make it to work to do the crappy work they do in the oil and lube center. Then all of their prices have shot up. Walmart is not the low-price leader. Their quality of their products is bs. The self service check out line is a joke. About these ceo's complaining about the consumer not wanting to spend money cause of products going up in price. What about the people's wages. The little pathetic raises that u give don't even come close to the cost of living. Especially you Walmart and all Walmart did was put two more job responsibilities on their employees when Walmart gave that pathetic raise. No wonder Walmart can't keep anyone. People need to start banning walmart and other big stores. Otherwise they r going to raise prices even-money and have u bagging ur groceries, checking urself out and soon they might have u restocking the products in the back of their warehouse. I know I do t shop at walmart much anymore especially after Walmart double charged me for a Samsung hdtv 80" that never got delivered and I couldn't even get ahold of the delivery people. So be on guard about walmart. I also have heard about the price was one price on the shelf but when this person got to the register. The price was much higher.

“Unemployment is low and wage rates are up”. Is it low paying jobs? And wage rate increases would be great if not for inflation eating everyone’s income. It’s not rocket science as to why people are spending less.
