These meters are so smart that mine is switched with some other persons meter from a completely different state. Now when that random person doesn't pay their bill, my power gets shut off!

Companies are manipulate the meters. Does anyone consider that smart meter allows the power company to speed up your meter! That is why alot of people are saying the smart meters are reading more or faster.

I'm in NW Ohio (AEP) On the website, they said anyone is able to "opt out" but may have to pay a monthly fee. They had the estimated instillation dates for various cities and that they would send out a letting 2 weeks prior to instillation with information about the process. We never received anything and one day out of the blue they show up in our neighborhood. They put a paper in the door and go about installing the meters without any consent. Fortunately my wife stays at home with our children and she knows me and told them we were opting out. (I had already previously called them and told them this. So this is the second time...you would think they would get the point. 3 months later...she notices another truck parked on our street as she is just getting home and another person from AEP was just about to try and install their little smart meter. SHe again told them we opted out...they made a phone call and said something was mailed to me (yesterday)...but they went on their way. This is getting ridiculous...

At the end of the segment that news lady just spouted some statement from the power company about them only being able to monitor your usage in real time. They can tell if you're home or not. It's called analytics. It might take a certain amount of time but they could tell just by your usage.

From Canada we had a digital smart meter installed without notice too…when I discovered it, within a week I had my analog back, I demanded it and filled out an opt out form. Told my friend nearby and he did the same thing.

There are questions I have about the reliability of smart meters I have some background in instructions an the biggest problem with the ability of smart meters in industrial meters has been static electricity lightning. It does an will change the calibration of instruments. The accuracy goes out the window. When I asked this question on the other channels provided by the company’s that test I get shutdown it won’t take my question so did I hit a nerve . We are more likely being take for a ride this a question that needs to asked and demands independent review.

I opt out but no longer get charged monthly fee they without notice changed my good running analog for an updated analog but I feel it’s a smart meter with analog dials cause no fee now, sleep disturbed every 3 hours, got tinnitus, get neck pains too. Sdge broke my padlock ignored no trespass signs, second time cut padlocks at my place. This company is ruthless, we should start a class action case against them. Also charge me by tiers how if no smart one do they know hours of use? I get dry hair, itchy skin, every time I plug radio into any home outlet it gives noisy static buzz sounds cannot hear the talk host voice even. It’s a nightmare the harms. Feedback please.

I’ve been a meter tech for 27 years and have had my face close to them every day so far no heath problems . My old boss is retired now . And he worked 30 plus years as a meter tech we so check the meter every now and then for safety. To make sure they are in good working order . I remember when I would have to go to every house to read the meter most people were real nice to me but you all ways had those who were never nice . I always told myself this is a job😊😊

I opted out about a year ago and everything's been fine. Then one day when I wasn't home, but my wife was, one of their thugs snuck in and cut MY lock off the panel and changed the meter. He said his boss told him to do whatever it takes to get that meter changed. Thugs, that's all they are. I bet my next bill is at least double what I've been paying. Thugs. Good for nothing thugs.

I've owned my HVAC business for 20 years. This last 5-6 months i have heard more complaints about high power bills than I have in the last 19 plus years combined. It's not the price of electricity is going up, it's people's power usage is rising dramatically. Which is odd, being everything is supposed to be getting energy efficient. The question is, What are some of the things businesses have done to make higher profits? Would a business put an algorithm in their system that increases people's energy usage numbers, so they'll make more profit?(an extra 2% here, 3%there...) How do we know we are paying for only the energy that we used? How do we know the new meters are calibrated properly, and are reading energy usage properly? They aren't mechanical like the old ones. IDK what's up

In Fl. they will be charging us $15.60 per month to opt out. Now they have not done any work,does the same thing as far as them getting a reading. Take it that $15.60 is to make up revenue lost buy not having your information to sell.

I am a retired electronics technician... and I doubt anyone is suffering physically from these meters. If you think you might be... you could build a SIMPLE Faraday cage around your bed or around a chair you sit in very often. A faraday cage is simply a metal screening "box" which surrounds you or the device you are trying to shield. It could be built with a few dollars of one-by-two inch boards and some metal window screening. Just build a box with the 1x2 boards... and staple the screening all around the box. If your health improves.... then you have proven that the radio waves from SOMETHING is causing your symptoms. What worries ME about these meters is not PHYSICAL issues but the FEES these meters might cause because they might implement HIGHER COSTS of electricity during peak usage times of day. NOBODY TALKS ABOUT THIS... but it seems to me the fluctuating cost of electricity during PEAK USAGE is the greatest issue we should be talking about.

My grandma pasted away , my brother and wife with 2 sons moved , my auntie and friend moved out , we shut off the heater in the day , we no longer us the electric stove . Several months ago our city utilities came & installed a smart meter. Before I used to sleep 9 to 10 hrs/night. Now I suffer from lack of sleep, 3 or 4 hrs/night. I now have bloody blotches on my arms & Dr. does not Know the cause. My youngest daughter has a gastric implant & it has failed??? I'm tired all day and do not feel well. I am tempted to buy a faraday cage but don't know if its legal. I did not want the smart meter but had no choice but extra charges/month. My wife is disabled & I am handicapped both on SS. I just don't know what to do.

Hello to all there was a guy who came out to put a smart meter on my house. He knock on my door and told me me that the power was going to be out for about 15 minute I told him not to put the smart meter he said okay but that I will be charge ten dollars extra a month. I told him no problem. I went on vacation came back I notice my milk and cheese was spoiled and and all electrics clock was flashing. I went outside and they changed my meter why?

It is illogical for someone to be more concerned about background noise from a device that is passively measuring electricity than they are about the electricity itself flowing through her entire home, the same electricity that is powering the device passively measuring it and that she pays the electric company to provide for her (and probably raises hell if it goes out) and what type of background RF or electrical noise is being produced this throughout her whole home. The meter is a fart in the wind. Not wanting one because you just dont want it is one thing, I know it is.....BUT, her concern about the meter was disproportionate to the circumstantial risks of the service as a whole.
