Looking good; even though it is a huge job with a small crew you haven't cut corners to simplify the work. The gable and angles really add a lot of visual interest. Some people have the ability to design, others the ability to build. Andrew is one of the unique ones that can design, build, repair and chooses to share with us. Many thanks for taking us along as you live the dream.

I have been waiting it seems like forever for this new video from Andrew. When I saw that he had a new one out everything else came to a screeching halt while I started watching the newest "castle" video. I'm still (somewhat) patiently waiting for his official introduction of Cody! Cody is so cute! I can see right now that he is going to be a much more "hands on" supervisor than Levi has been. I wish Andrew had let Cody put his little paw print in the wet concrete. That would have been an awesome memory years and years down the road.

Gonna really change the look of the place once you get the sheeting on too. Glad you go to the trouble to film, I know it must be a hassle sometimes. My dad was a similar 'over-builder' construction guy and I inherited that also I guess. On their dream house build he framed some second story patio decking with i-beams and cement decking, but when the young inspection guy first saw the forms he said he wasn't sure about it. When the old inspector saw it he laughed and said 'that'd hold a cement mixer, no problem." lol Glad some of us over-builders are still around - I'll bet dad would lift his coffee cup to you in approval.

We learned pretty quick to not weld on the meter. Always run a generator alongside the welder. It will always be cheaper than the meter, no exceptions. Great video as always. Edit: Also please get rid of that wooden ladder. A buddy was put into the hospital last year from one of them collapsing on him. The one you were using didn't look too sturdy to me. Or at the very least don't use it to lift steel. That's just scary.

@tutekohe1361
@tutekohe1361 4 жыл бұрын
No-one can make power as cheap as the Utility Company, but the price you pay for Electricity, especially high current draw at casual daytime rates, is unrelated to how much it costs them to produce it. Andrew, my wife and I just discovered your KZfaq channel and videos about 2 weeks ago. We're both 65 years old and addicted to your videos. We are so impressed with your abilities and knowledge (neither of us having any construction or land maintenance knowledge whatsoever). We do have experience in dealing with numerous contractors, however, as we've put up two new doublewides in the past 18 years. The most recent being 2 years ago. By contractors I mean all kinds. Land clearing, well installations, plumbers, electricians ... well, you get the idea. We've only ever dealt with 2 that I can honestly say were truly men of ability AND integrity. All the rest have been standard, run-of-the-mill, big-talking good-old-boys. Can get the job done but barely and rarely (if ever) reliably. Because of this, I can safely say that you sir are a rare jewel that deserves all the success of a positive future. One more thing, if you don't know who Howard Roark is, please read The Fountainhead. He is you and you are he. Thank you so much for your videos and all our best wishes for you and your future.

Twist the cable counter clock wise i bet Andrew did in turn he avoided the lights? You do the same thing on a cranes when setting the hook. An old timer i watched on a tunneling job do this. I can even braid cable into loops it is not un common as a deck hand to have skills.

I have followed Andrew ever since he started posting and I will follow him everywhere he goes and with what ever he does. (Sounds a lot like a Stalker doesn't it?) He is one amazingly skilled man for one so young. Keep doing what you're doing George, it brings new light to your fellow KZfaqrs. Love it ALL!!!

Hello Andrew. I just re-watched this vid and am updating my comment from 3y ago, ricknav1. My wife passed away in 2022, a year after that post. YT que'd up this vid today and I re-watched it. It was just as good as the 1st time. Knowing your position on hired help, I have to assume that you really liked the two fellas helping you. I know I do. I have to say that all your videos on putting up your castle are fantastic and among my favorites. I was so glad to see Levi again and baby Cody. You've come such a long way since your house project and I never miss and anxiously look forward to every new post. I feel like your family and wish you continued success, happiness and keep those vids a comin. 😊

@clydeacor1911
@clydeacor1911 4 жыл бұрын
You can actually just get a job working for a contracting company that uses a lot of heavy equipment and have them train you. That way you're getting paid to learn rather than paying to learn.

@@clydeacor1911 onsite training is the best kind of training. And they pay you.
@clydeacor1911
@clydeacor1911 4 жыл бұрын
@@lumberjaketreeservicellc4002 exactly. And there's no beter training than job experience training because it's real life scenarios and experience. I'd imagine that equipment schools are similar to truck driving schools a lot of classroom time with no actual training and everyone wonders why there aren't any good truck drivers on the road anymore. They put automatic transmissions in trucks because people don't know how to drive standards and they don't want to take the extra time to teach them so they're skimping on education and I'm sure that equipment operating schools aren't much different.

Clyde Acor Really great advice! I will definitely have to think on this.
@clydeacor1911
@clydeacor1911 4 жыл бұрын
@@mightymachines6675 That's what I did. It does take a while to move up the ranks but you'll be better trained and won't pick up as many bad habits and like I said you are getting paid to get the training instead of paying for training. And the guys you work with will actually respect you more for moving up the ranks instead of like oh hey I done schooling and didn't have to go through what all of you other guys did to get here, they'll look at it like you didn't earn it. I own a bunch of construction trucks and excavation equipment and I've had school taught drivers work for me in the past and I told myself that is never hire another school taught driver again because of the way they all turned out and I haven't hired one since 2003. Never had a school taught equipment operator but I believe I'd feel the same way about hiring one. And a operator either has the instinct to basically run any and call types of equipment or he doesn't and I don't think a school will teach you on every different kind of machine. When I hire an operator he has to know how to operate everything I have, front loader, excavator, skid steer, dozer, crane, roller, ext... And huge bonus if they have a class A CDL with endorsements to drive the trucks! That way I'm just paying one guy to move and operate a machine instead of hiring and paying 2 guys and that kind of a person will generally make 20% or more than just an operator.
