I know you want to be all smug here, but Chris Tarrant had the same timers on WWTBAM UK when this aired, and with him, failing to answer in time was a drop-down failed answer, not a walkaway so you lost money. This was long before the Jeremy Clarkson revival, when Tarrant was still on. Jimmy Kimmel revived the US show with no timers like Jeremy Clarkson revived the UK original.

This was the daytime version from later years the original US version had no time limit

Nope, for the clock version of the U.S. Millionaire, if the clock expires, the contestant is forced to walk away. I know in the U.K version, when they introduced their clock, the clock expiring is treated as an incorrect answer.

@@occono3543 To my knowledge, I don’t think anyone on Tarrant’s version lost by letting the clock run out. Whenever they did, it’s usually walking away on the very last second.

Obviously. Out of time = no choice = walk away. Seems pretty reasonable to me that if you do not answer that it is counted as not answering.

@@1dn745 Check Jehan Shamsid-Deen's $500k question, she ran outta time and didnt say anything after. Clearly that's a no answer which in millionaire's terms is a walk away. Whether they clarify or not is irrelevant after the time expires because the clock decided for them

You can get a super hard question for $100 or a super easy one for $25,000 and also you get to keep HALF of what you accumulated. The Regis (rest in peace) era had MANY millionaires but the Meredith era had only 3 or 4 I think. I remember a $500,000 question being like "Dr Seuss's original version of The Cat In The Hat was written in which style of font or whatever. WHO'S going to know that?!?!?!
