In part 7 of my Continental Divide Trail Thru-Hike we entered the Weminuche Wilderness. We had 114 miles to hike from Pagosa Springs to Lake City on the CDT through the San Juan mountains. It took us 7 days, our longest time without a shower yet. There was way less snow and wind than the first section of Colorado and I was super grateful for that. It allowed me to really soak in the beauty of the Colorado rockies. We saw elk, ptarmigans and so. many. marmots. We avoided a rock slide and more sketchy snow traverses (in typical CDT fashion) and I finally started to feel like my trail legs were coming in. I was grateful for the way the hard days on the CDT made me value the good ones and I felt ready to take on the rest of my Continental Divide Trail Thru-Hike.
