@thetramp123 that's because incompetent devs made those 3d one's lol. Go back and look at the companies that made those games and you'll see what I mean. I didn't say a cover shooter doen to the T like gears, but just a good 3rd person shooter like gears. Then again, if they did make it a cover shooter so what? It mite be for the better. The new contra game coming to the switch has enemies taking cover.

@@redcrimson1028 I just played the demo man (albeit briefly for about 15 minutes). Just from that taste alone, I can say it is enjoyable. Classic 2D Contra, HOWEVER there is a lot of new stuff to look forward to. New abilities, story and arcade mode, HP bar options?! (yeah that's there too) in addition to difficulty selection. And while I admittedly went into this thinking, oh, this will be a rehash of the original Contra but with more characters, I certainly don't feel that way now. These guys know what they're doing. While I do critique the art style and the character movement speed, these are personal nitpicks. I look forward to playing more when I get the chance. I recommend you try the demo for yourself. I'm definitely gonna pick this one up.

Probotector was the EU version of Contra Hardcorps for the Genesis.

I love that they took the robot characters from the censored Australian version and fleshed them out into being part of the team.

The demo was cool. I hope the 2nd level was just skipped in the demo. It goes from the first level to the waterfall, which is the third level.

Contra Shattered Soldier on PS2 is 2.5D. It's my favorite game in the entire series. PLAY IT NOW!

If the demo is anything to go by, the PS2 Contra games are light years better than this.

Shattered Soldier truly deserves a rerelease. It was mind-blowing. Wish this one had similar graphics, but these ones work for me, too!

@@cloudymind382 preorder is on discount. Besides in a world of $70 games, that isn't bad. It's essentially half price. I remember paying $59.99 for Contra 3 new as well, and that game is like 20 minutes long tops. That was MSRP for most SNES games.

I played the Steam demo last night, it's good but the music doesn't rock like the old ones. But the stages are significantly longer. Probably getting it for XBox, but curious if it runs well on Switch.

Lucia is most likely a nod to the Lucia robot that appears alongside Bill in Shattered Soldier and both Lucias are probably related in some way. Ariana is a nice addition to the roster and I'm thinking she's also related to the expanded storyline featured in Shattered Soldier.
