You teach very well! Im an old retired Caterpillar mechanic and find those wooden gears more facinating than their steel counterparts

Okay, so i just got to say this. These kinds of videos are absolutely amazing! I love the one-day at a time style, because you dont have to wait ages for a new video, but also the videos are always very interesting and nice to watch. The projets are cool, and you can always learn something new. Overall, a job well done! Keep on going and have a nice evening.

I 100% agree with you Markus. The build videos from other producers where they show you a week or two's work in a 30 minute video often makes the tasks seem over complicated.

That made me smile when you cranked it and I saw it turning, don't ask why, maybe it was just pleasing, or maybe I am just a kid at heart!

Great series of videos Sir Robert. I thank you for doing these. It keeps my brain turning, sometimes like in two directions at once. Just like your gears lol.

This is very cool, so many times you need your gears to do something different (like mirroring the direction from the same source) and there is always a way if you have the right attitude and mindset. Love the diversity of your videos, you always keep your audience entertained. Those few that give you a thumbs down should open their eyes as well as their minds to allow themselves to understand the principals that you are sharing. Every one of your videos shares something that can be adapted to a different project that helps a difficult problem become a simple one. It's all in the way we perceive the principal.

For marking out I print a template from a CAD program and glue it to the material I want to cut or drill, not quite as accurate as doing it properly but nonetheless quick and easy.

How about doing a Harrison pendulum with cheeks so that it always has exactly the same tempo? The funny thing with clocks is when they're in accurate there just an accurate to one part per million or one part per billion… You can't even see it. But that's what we have to work against in order to make a good quality clock. You would need a way to measure dead center for the pendulum, and then to measure precisely the amount of time of the swing, and then you can just give it a kick and see if it's still maintains the same timing.

If you used a differential as a final output, a variable speed pulley and 3 belts you could make some sort of hydrostatic transmission, with a infinite to one ratio and 1.5:1 in a direction and 1.5:1 ratio in reverse, with a standard 3:1 ratio variable pulley. The one with a moving plater in the middle.

Know there’s a puzzle, the input gear also goes in the opposite direction to each of the two counter rotating gears, three gears, all going in opposite directions but only two directions ?

(completely off topic of this video) Among many topics many of which you cover I also enjoy following advances in space technology and the possible colonization of other worlds. I am seeing talk about putting a permanent floating station/colony in the atmosphere of Venus one of the problems is a lack of water readily available there. However, sulfuric acid is largely available there as the clouds seam to be made up of it. Is there a simple process to make water from sulfuric acid? Perhaps some sort of electrolysis?
@ThinkingandTinkering
@ThinkingandTinkering 3 жыл бұрын
well I suppose you could just add soda that way you get water and sodium sulphate
@LoneWolfsVoice
@LoneWolfsVoice 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThinkingandTinkering I had thought of that. It would be a huge amount of weight to carry clear out to Venus I wonder if Sodium bicarbonate is something found naturally in asteroids. I was honestly hoping there was a way to break it down without the use of other chemicals such as heating to a certain temp or electrolysis since it is easier to send solar panels than thousands of tons of soda.
