Hi everyone! Let's paint a Skaven Verminlord for Warhammer Age of Sigmar using Contrast paints and a few tricks.
Grey Primer, White Primer (Ace Hardware)
Rosemary and Co series 99 sable brushes, sizes 2, 1, 0
Vallejo Game Color: Black, White, Bonewhite, Offwhite, Turquoise
Citadel Contrast:
Contrast Medium, Darkoath Flesh, Magos Purple, Aeldari Emerald, Black Templar, Sigvald Burgundy, Warp Lightning
Citadel Base/Layer:
Stormvermin Fur, Mournfang Brown, Iron Hands Steel, Runelord Brass, Moot Green, Zandri Dust, Rakarth Flesh, Emperor's Children, Pallid Wych Flesh, Screamer Pink, Fenrisian Grey, Sybarite Green, Stormhost Silver, Canoptek Alloy, Dryad Bark, Steel Legion Drab,
Citadel Shade:
Targor Rageshade, Nuln Oil, Mortarion Grime, Agrax Earthshade,
Basing materials:
Cork tile
Textured paint / basing texture (Vallejo Earth Texture, Dark Earth)
Coarse Gravel
Fine sand
Super Glue
Static Grass

That Aeldari Emerald+Black Templar mix is a revelation, it's gorgeous! Love the deep dark burgundy as well.

would love to see your take on applying this theme to a unit of skaven! Some kind of quick, accessible method for painting many models.

That's a great idea! I think the colors would translate over to batch painting pretty easily. I have some spare Clanrats so I'll have to add it to my queue. Thanks for watching!

The model looks awesome! I always wanted to start a clans Eshin army, but never did because of not liking the range at the time. With the Skaventide box coming out soon though, I'm finally thinking of starting a Skaven Army. Would it be possible for you to show us how to apply this scheme to a unit of clanrats for instance, it would be really helpful!

Highlighting black fur is my nemesis. I always feel like those grey highlights look kinda bad...

Yeah it can be kind of tricky, and in my experience it can be especially hard to see where to place highlights if the black layer is a little shiny.

i'd bump up the light and color of the film a bit (just to accentuate the great paint job) but other than that; job's a good 'un.

Yeah you're right. I need to invest in some better lighting (right now I am only using a couple desk lamps). On small stuff it's not too bad but the bigger models end up looking too dark. Hopefully will get all that fixed soon. Thanks for watching!

Skryre was always my favorite for WHFB. Lots of guns and magic. The new Jezzails are just what the doctor ordered, I think!

@@MattsHobbyHour as long as you don’t sell Verminlord Mickey you will be fine. For extra gags, make it a dead Verminlord Mickey killed by a Gina Cirano lookalike.

Do you use synthetic or natural brushes?

I use natural sable brushes. Rosemary and Co series 99, sizes 2, 1 and 0 (most of the time I use a size 2)
