The Rogal Dorn Battle Tank is the new steel machine with which to crush the enemies of the Guard with it's imposing armament and retro vibes this tank is an awesome bit of kit for any aspiring general of the Astra Militarum just like me. I'm diligently writing up a "Warhipster Recipes" paintbook. But I'm too scared of my godawful skill handling large flat surfaces with Contrast paints to attempt putting them in practice.

There was a raging debate for crew vs no Crew. Essentially If I'd put the crew on I would have had to prime it wraithbone and then that would have made painting the tank harder. This way the tank was easier. Then again I could have subassembled but then the crew would have been really bright next to the tank. it's a tough one! Maybe I will on the next one!

Amazing work - I really enjoyed this video. I'm working on the Rogal Dorn tank myself at the moment and have come across a weird problem - if you paint the gun turret separately to the body of the tank it's too "big" to fit in the hole and rotate as usual. It seems GW made it such a snug fit that even paint makes the model too big. Anyone else encountered this problem and how did you resolve it please (at present I have a gun turret permanently pointing backwards, which seems inefficient at best.....)?

I’m wondering how does this paint scheme compare to the grey you used on the Sentinel and Field Ordnance Battery? Would you recommend using the grey over wraithbone in hindsight or should they be different shades of green?

I would love to do a Black Coach as It's a breathtaking miniature. WE have to convince my partner she wants one for her Nighthaunt but that she doesn't want to paint it and wants me to do it. OR I have to find the money for it and a week off. It is on my wishlist of things to do though so will eventually happen!

Is it your lighting in the studio? cause my mechanicus standard grey primer is alot darker and more green.

It seems like using Dark Angels Green contrast is a real waste of a very expensive paint and uncessarily time consuming. You should just spray the tank your base green from the onset and build up lighter colors from there. It also seems like the final result is very flat with details getting lost in a sea of green that could have popped with more highlighting. I don't think this is a good method for people to follow.

It would be nice if I was able to see what you were actually doing while you were painting. Your paint graphics block out everything you're painting! The tank looks fantastic, but as far as following what you're doing...not so much.
