Great overview of all the moving pieces for CRMX. Thank you! Hearing your experience in making the tough choices(that work) when managing a single Universe would be interesting in a deeper dive.

Thank you for the feedback- I think that’s a great idea for a future vid. Thanks!

Amazing video and well paced thank you! Would you be willing to do a walk through of setting up the Astera titan tubes with pixel control? I'd love to see how it works with fades, smooths, flag runs etc.

Personally I would love to see a more in depth breakdown guide using CRMX like you mentioned at the end of your video. This guide is already really helpful as I'm very inexperienced with CRMX and another more in depth guide would be incredible to learn. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback! I’m on set this week that’s going to have a couple cues of 750w Lekos that I’m doing through Luminair. That’s going to be my next DMX video and I can go into detail about how I’m doing it!

Clear and concise explanation, thank you! A deeper dive would be great, maybe even mentioning prices one can expect for a beginner set up.

Thank you! I would definitely like to do a follow-up video. I’ll consider mentioning prices- the problem with that as I see is that there will eventually be new and likely less expensive options released as the video ages.

If I still worked for RatPac I would be trying to make the management sponsor you with free gear like they did for Tyler Kaschke to make more tutorial videos like this featuring their products. This is a great short explainer video. Well done!

I've been using the Satellite to MC Pros as receivers this past month. Been loving the results. Luminare has been a good system, but I'll probably end up going to Blackout again. I really enjoyed using it a couple years ago, just need to refresh myself on it.

I worry about using USBc as a connection to the light since there’s no way to lock it in. I’m concerned it comes loose while it’s out of reach. Have you had any problems with that?
@danielharvey14724 ай бұрын
@@PancakeLighting I've mainly been doing interview set ups with slight adjustments. For those, it's worked like a dream. I am trying to find a good solution to mounting the receivers. For now, I just use their magnets to the stand. It's definitely a work in progress.

Great vid! Thanks for the clear explanation. I've only got a small lighting van, but with each manufacturer having their own apps it gets very cumbersome. I've been looking at the same setup with the AKS Satellite & Luminair for some time, this could be the push I needed to commit. The little Godox Timo Link seems ok to fill in the lights that havent got CRMX built in. Have you used those?
@PancakeLighting4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! Glad you found it motivating. I don’t have the Godox receiver but my buddy does. We’ve used it on set before with Cinelex and RatPac receivers. We were in a studio but it worked flawlessly.

Thank you for the concise description of this industry expectation! Are you aware of any compact and quiet wireless tools available to integrate smaller tungsten loads into this kind of workflow for small sets?
@PancakeLighting3 ай бұрын
Hey Corey! Yes and I actually plan to talk about this in a future video. Basically, I purchased some 4 channel dimmers cheap off eBay. These are old DJ dimmers from the 80s that are not very sought after. Add a wireless CRMX receiver and you can dim tungsten fixtures wirelessly.
@CoreyAbraira3 ай бұрын
@@PancakeLighting Thanks! I’ve read about the heavy loud dimmer packs that are used on big kid sets and knew that wasn’t going to be an option for me. Looking forward to that video!

Hello, thank you for your video. Luminar is nice but StageLight is inexpensive and really powerful and it's a one-time payment. As for an antenna I use Easynode Plus Pknight wifi 2.4 Ghz dmx 90$ on Amazon and works just fine. I'm interested in ROXX fixtures and integrating CRMX transceivers, so I'm looking for a budget-friendly CRMX transceiver and that's how I found your video. Do you think I could control the ROXX fixture with Ratpac Satellite or something else as the LumenRadio Aurora is way too expensive for me.
@PancakeLighting3 ай бұрын
I would recommend the Ratpac Satellite as a transmitter. If you want to find a budget friendly CRMX transceiver, look at the Godox stuff

Does this type of system work with or is compatible with led neon/led pixel tape?
@PancakeLightingАй бұрын
It could be. Depends if the fixture supports DMX.

I started with luminair but it wasn’t fast enough for me unfortunately. I normally Gaff but since getting into data I get a lot of dimmer Op jobs so it has to be as quick as possible lol
@PancakeLighting4 ай бұрын
I hear that. For me on small corporate jobs it is rarely a request from the DP. Often it’s just out of my own convenience. Have you played with any of the other systems? Onyx, Hog, Grand MA? Curious how the new blackout with MIDI control can stack up to those options.
@xQWOND3Rx4 ай бұрын
@@PancakeLighting yea you’re doing the right thing. Luminair is much more stable than Blackout. As far as the midi goes, it’s pretty great. I use the GrandMA as well and it’s not close yet but they’re definitely on their way!
