This ZZ Plant that was given to me by my friend Tara, which I gifted a division to Sander-has had a long life-even with an infestation of scale insects, so we're just trying to stay on top of it so that it can have many, many good years to come.

I use a 12 oz bottle, fill it up all the way to the top and add the oil, do not worry at all , your plants will love it and it even gives a great shine to them, i wish i could upload pictures here so you can see my plants, i have well over 140 plants for the past 7 years. I used neem oil 8 years ago and i did not like the smell and it did not help much. I did a ton of reseach and experimented with different essential oils and it seems like my plants love the last remedy the best.

Fabulous stuff always but please be more careful lifting*. *If you rewatch, you will see how you lifted (hinged) with your lower back rather than your knees. Proper body mechanics when gardening should be more frequently discussed. An injury can prevent people from enjoying their garden. ❤🌹

That’s a good reminder. I am really suffering these days from years of doing exactly what she did. It seems harmless until it creeps up on you. Maybe a good topic for a collaboration video with a PT?
@tbz1551
@tbz1551 2 жыл бұрын
@@triciaroy Great idea but ideally it would be with a good OT (occupational therapist) rather than a PT. Utilizing proper body mechanics during every day activities is more their bailiwick. Sorry to hear you have a chronic injury to deal with, I hope it improves or becomes more manageable.

Knock on wood, I rarely have pest issues on my plants. I move the majority of them outside during the summer months, they grow so much better because of the natural humidity. When I bring them in I like to treat them with a systemic because it’s hard to inspect 100 plants and you never know what you might be bringing into our home, if it’s hiding somewhere and not easily seen. Thank you Ms. Summer, it’s always a pleasure to see what your up to now🌺💚🙃

Now I know why my ZZ is blooming so much! For scale, I mix a few teaspoons of neem oil, about 6 ounces of rubbing alcohol, a few drops of liquid soap in a big spray bottle and fill up with water. Then spray on leaves and rub off bugs with paper towel. It’s arduous but if you keep at it, it works.

I really love your content. Its so refreshing to see after all these years how much passion you have for those plants. What i specially appreaciate on your series is that your collection and knowledge is beyond philodendrons, alocasias and all these other trend plants. I get quiet tired of the socialmedia site of the urban jungle and i think the energy around those plants (lets not talk about the variegated ones) isn‘t as healty anymore. .... what I just wanted to say is after all i like your divesity and your wisdom. 💚

My Schefflera had a layer of scale I practically chiseled off. (yes I'm still embarrassed i let it get that bad) The scale was successfully eradicated after painting a super thin coat of Diatomaceous Earth on the entire plant with a short bristle stenciling/fabric paintbrush. Then I showered it and scrubbed it the same way with a dilute dish soap and washed it clean again. Few days of thorough checking and i only had 4 more to wipe off. 1 month later and still clear : This ZZ plant sure appreciates your dedication to it's health! I'm sure that little one will sprout right up now!

i have battled (and won) against scale and other pests with pine soap. I dilute it with a lot of water so its quite mild and then spray the plants with it. So far hasnt seemed to damage any and it gets into smaller crevices where it might be hard to manually clean the pests off. I tend to spray the plant so its completely soaked, then let it sit for a couple hours and then wash all the soap off.

I have had a zz plant for about 3 years now. It started in a 4 inch pot. Now it is in a 12 inch pot and completely root bound. Almost as bad as yours was in your repot video. Thing is, it has only grown 3 stocks since I bought it and they are about a third as big as the stocks on your plant. So it is a mostly empty pot with a few stocks. 5 or 6 small ones with 2-4 leaves and 3 big ones with maybe 10-15 leaves on each. I think 2 more are coming in but they look very much smaller then the last 3. It also seems to have just come out of it's winter hibernation so I hope I will get more growth later in the year. Any yes, it appeared dormant all summer as it was cold and cloudy outside and dry in the apartment. The humid heat wave in August finally woke it up.

I love my ZZ but I don’t see any new growth this year…I think it may be time for a new pot next spring. Do you think all the tubers need to be below the soil level? Some of mine are visible on top of soil. The brown sheaths at the base drive me crazy I have to remove them when they are dry. I don’t care for the look and it’s hiding place for bugs. I purchased a Raven ZZ from Home Depot that looks ok but it’s potted in peat and the roots are coming out the bottom. I’m trying to decide if I should move it now or wait until spring🤔 Thanks for the video 💚

Is neem not systematic aka best used as sun go's under cos it will break down when sun hits it ?, altho from y experience no matter how strong you apply it never worked against trips, and you also wanna make sure it breaks down cos it can interfere with breeding cycle of insects including predatory one's like predatory mites
