Eagle Pass fire lookout has been subject to controversy ever since it was rebuilt without consent from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resources. I hike up there and spend a night to show you the reconstructed lookout and beautiful mountaintop views. This historic lookout is a very special experience in between Sicamous and Revelstoke, British Columbia.
Thanks for watching!

Kudos to the folks who restored it. And what a shame they got in trouble for it. These lookouts are quickly disappearing and need to be saved. Love all the historic architecture hidden throughout the mountains. Thanks for the awesome video.

That's true if it's on reservation land otherwise it wouldn't do that much. In the case it is on Crown land, it would need to be a large British Columbia with a Canadian flag to hold merit.

There’s a lot of back tracking and extra effort to set up cameras and recover them after walking away from them all the time to make a video like this! Thank you so much! And the time lapse was awesome. I recently got into astrophotography and when I first saw the shot of the cabin from the place you ended up doing the time lapse I said to myself, “oh that would be the perfect spot for a time lapse or a star trail shot or both!” Love your videos! Another excellent post. The very best way I've found to continue enjoying mountain adventurers, through your eyes as I am physically unable to do so now the result of an accident. Rather than totally giving up on enjoying all that AB, BC and YT mountain scape's have to offer (as others have tried to convince me to do) i was fortunate to have found your channel. The mountain challenges and beauty you have captured in this and all of your posts is a close as I can come to my past backcountry and mountain pursuits. Your honest and real reporting of the physical effort and risks required to traverse these lands scratches my itch so to speak. Just amazing video adventurism which clearly illustrates your love of these lands and the stories as much as the trip there and back. Thanks for keeping my dreams real.

@@marknewman8609 There were 5 people staying there so it was a bit messy, but otherwise I would say it was fine. There is some left-over garbage up there from the builders and possibly some others who have visited, which is piling up outside the back of the cabin. There was also a broken pane of a 2-pane window.

This is wonderful what group did this very hard work in the mountains .. In 1960 my first job was to man a Fire Lookout as i worked for the DNR in Washington .. Over time i worked in 4 different towers with the highest tower being 65 feet high with the average tower at 45 feet . Long hours looking for smoke but the views were amazing and i loved it .. Hikers would come up and visit on the weekends , some even gave me a cold beer or two and fried chicken and potato chips .. To me there was not a better job than this i had ..It's great Nina gets to go on all these trips with you which she loves i'm sure .. well done , great film work ..

Rene did that tower back pristine shape. Have picks with the R22 parked on the roof. He got static over no permits. CO abandoned those lookout yrs ago. Never had to remove them. Rene presented it to the local native band. Have pics of day flag went up. To bad he was a legend and it would have made a nice reminder of the legend Rene St Onge was. Exactly the reason Rene and the others put in so much time and effort into that lookout. He would have loved the video.

Have you heard that the lookout just burned down? Shame 😔 was prob the big lightning storms that have passed through as of late or it was arson 🤔

Taken Down?!? Seems like if your leaders had balls and didn't wear goofy socks they would designate the place a National Treasure and Historic Site.

I agree, this place should be protected, but this really has nothing to do with what kind of socks the PM wears

Our federal bureaucrats don't care about our (as in) Canadian historic treasures. But perhaps our provincial ones do as they have in the past.

Well it certainly does in some ways. Instead of being trendy while in the spotlight, the PM should be concerned about tangible things.

This is controversial because local Canadians rebuilt it?? Tell the forest service too bad, they took to long to act so it escalates out of their hands. As long as the locals can rebuilt the structure safely it poses no issue whatsoever. Fire looks are needed in the long term even with infrared and aerial surveillance. Its just another way to add to the safety of the woodlands. Burn in winter and then the summers won't be so bad I would hope.

I feel if it's done right 👍 it's fine. No harm...Also this is our country 🙏 and I don't care about governments feelings. We pay taxes and we work for this country. God gave us this planet to Medel with our hands. So we shall do just that by the sweat 😅 of our brouw. ☀️ God's land. 🌎 🙏 Not ours. Also more of these 🗼 towers need restoration. There are people who are also homeless 🏠 and this could help. Other countries around the world 🌍 have cabins also like this called bouthies... Nature is healthy for the mind. We need to slow down this fast paced life 🧬 🦅 with technology that we have introduced into society. Especially technology and progress.
