Critism is warranted. Especially for us consumers that have watched line after line come and go - without completion. We see repetition in rehashed characters and increased prices with no increase in QC or swap outs. These companies have done this to themselves. Also- playing games with edition sizes instead of confidently committing to the fan base. We needed new characters years ago. Instead we’ve had countless Wolverine, Batman, and so forth. The art direction with characters in the same realm don’t even gel due to gaps in releases / different artist. I can’t even complete a damn Batman PF line and I’ve been collecting Sideshow PF for over a decade.

Absolutely spot on. While I understand there are people that go out of their way to be overly negative about everything, on the flip side, when these companies respond back and attack those people who do have criticisms, no one is served. It reminds me of what is going on right now in Hollywood, with Hollywood putting out sub-par entertainment. The entertainment fails because it's poorly written, poorly directed or poorly acted (or all of the above), and the first thing we see as a response are all of the istophobes coming out of the woodwork to blame the fans. As with everything, there has to be a balance. Once you tip the balance, that's when everything goes to crap.

There is a fine line between genuine critique from passion and love of the hobby and just being the negative complaining guy about every piece and every detail taking one’s self and this hobby way way too seriously. At the end of the day collectors are the consumers not the artists, I’ve always been more interested in hearing the artist critique vs the consumer. Again everyone has the right to be as negative as they want but there is also just being childish and negative and never being positive about anything. I got flack for saying why do people have opinions on things they aren’t even going to buy, I am not going to waste my time and energy complaining about things I can’t even do myself let alone not getting myself. Trying to tell people not to buy something is subjective, just because a reviewer doesn’t like something doesn’t mean other people won’t like it. So who’s right? If someone buys it then it’s a good piece to someone. It’s always easy when you don’t have to produce anything but hate on everything, if people knew how hard it is to sculpt and paint …. Some people are definitely just dramatic and take themselves way too seriously talking about this hobby as if it affects the world like geopolitics or the socioeconomic state of the world. It’s just not that serious compared to most things. But I do support even the biggest man babies right to be that way, because like you said Chris freedom of speech I either have to be for all of it or I don’t support it 🤷‍♂️I just get what I want and don’t really care about anything else and will not demean the hard work these artists and companies do even if I’m not a fan of the piece. I will never be the negative guy hating from a chair on the internet.

All we can do is voice our own opinion. I don’t have loyalty to any company, they are not paying me to be nice. If I think something look good, I’ll say it looks good. If I think it looks bad, I’ll say it looks bad. But of course, all these companies should listen to us. We are giving them OUR money. Companies that don’t listen to feedback deserve to go out of business. Why should we pay companies that don’t listen to us? Companies that listen to feedback are the ones that deserve our money. It’s as simple as that.

Yeah, but you're saying that as if every single collector would agree with your voice, what if you don't like something that 1000 collectors do like and still buy? what good would the company have gained from listening then? Art and taste is subjective, collectors always say stuff like that but then the companies keep selling, most people who complain about a piece don't even buy statues or would not have bought the piece regardless, people think their opinion is more important than the actual artists and sculptors and teams working on the piece, could you go in the factory and physically improve something with your own hands? probably not so companies rely on artists not every single complaining consumer. People will complain about everything, so instead of the typical complaining consumer going Karen mode, maybe find a new hobby or realize you don't have to buy it, it's not that serious bro.

You completely missed the point of what happened its not about constructive criticism or freedom of speech . There's some people out there just trying be relevant by doing certain things then acting like it's for the better good and its not. It's just for views or to make it seem like they the voice of the community when no one asked them to be. I hate the fact that because of people like that all youtubers get put in a category that's a negative one. We should be trying to help build the hobby not trash it and like you said some of us have talked to the artist, ceos , skuptors etc . These people aren't even buying the statue or even know or like the movie the statue is about.

People have the right to praise and to complain. When is it a moment of harassment or sabotage? Now, the companies also have the right to say you are wrong also, hence JND, Funko, Sideshow in the past for a specific piece to explain it. Also, social outrage for something brings you in front of social judgement. Something not in the laws, just something that will or will not fit peoples social expectations. Agreement or disagreement. It’s a person by person bases and self education to want to say something that will not offend. I see both sides.

Great video BSC! I think constructive criticism is always a good thing. When I see comments like “that sucks” or “pass”, I disregard them. I always try to pay a compliment along with constructive criticism as this is someones art at the end of the day, if there is something I don’t like, I point it out in a polite way along with what I think could fix the issue. Even when I get priced out by shipping, I point it out by saying how amazing the statue is but shipping is too high, cough P1 cough cough lol

Positive outlook is why I watch you. I have enough stress in my life I watch KZfaq for entertainment. I don't understand why the zeitgeist gravitates towards negativity. I know people who search for things to watch that they know will trigger them etc rather than something more positive. As an example, my neighbor seeks out videos that portray police being bad. Yet won't watch ones where police saved someone..and then spouts the "fact" that 99% of police are evil !? Then the algorithms magnify the issue by only offering videos of police misbehaving etc . We see the same with political issues..the two greatest dangers to our society now are ego and confirmation bias. So I hope that you remain positive in this genre that's supposed to be about the love we have for these properties.

I think as long as the criticism is not rude or disrespectful companies should look at criticism as feedback and either take it or leave it. Have any companies done surveys when they have done reveals? To ask for more helpful feedback. For instance asking if you could make 3 changes what would you change. Or what are your top 3 things you would not change.

You know me Chris lol there was a time when I was overly opinionated and even harsh at times. What I found is that you create more enemies and burn bridges quickly going that route and just like in our personal lives, we have to speak to people and say things with regard to other people's feelings. There's a huge difference between constructive criticism and flat out bashing something and I really want to say that lots of opinions come from people that are just collectors and don't know what it means to create a piece of art. It's VERY VERY difficult and time consuming. Nobody owes us anything and that's why there are several different companies with different IPs and different levels of quality for different types of collectors. If we are interested in a piece and really want to preorder but feel some things should be improved, we could reach out to have that mature conversation with guys like Ant and Jay. At the end of the day, we need to respect each other more and talk to people on social media the same way we would talk to or about them in person. It matters and great video 🤘

Chris, I don’t think you are overly positive ^^ You are positive but you are not overly positive or being a fake positive. You are a positive person and I like your approach. Unfortunately, I am a negative and pessimistic person, but I do appreciate your positivity and your channel. (Keep up your good work! 🙂) Too many are negative. I agree, we should all be careful when expressing our opinions and respect each other. Even if we don’t like a piece we shouldn’t trash it. We can be honest and we can criticize it but don’t be insulting. Don’t take it too far. After all, we all love the statues and the art (both collectors and companies). That's why we do it. About the Conan piece: I don’t think it is a bad piece. I definitely see Arnold. Is it perfect: No. But it is not bad. (I have seen statues with worse likeness that I still own and love, and I have seen better statues with almost perfect likeness that I could never dream of buying.) I don’t collect Arnold or Conan myself, but I think, it is a good piece.

Good segment 👍 The way we communicate is extremely impactful negatively and positively. I do feel how one absorb the information is most important. From a business standpoint, I feel that the feedback from the consumer (minor criticism to hard critiques) should be accepted the same as it would be from the CEO/investment group of said business. The 100% agreeable fact is, without the consumer there is no business. The collectors are the true investors. A business that appreciates that dynamic will actively and positively leverage their community feedback to sustain growth… The seller receives full funds per item. The consumers need to receive full value per item… Let the business own their efforts and executions at 100%. Quality Assurance greatly reduces negative feedback.

It’s important for customers to share feedback with companies about products. It’s also important that the customers who choose to give the feedback make sure the criticism is given in a way that the creators can digest. “A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down” should be the message in customers head when sharing their opinions.

I love the PCS cell shaded museum scale Transformers. I’ve been told that Transformers for PCS aren’t great sellers, factories didn’t want to take on the cell shaded look, and that they’d have to charge more for those pieces. Now I could choose to say absolutely nothing and they could produce new pieces going further but without that cell shaded look I won’t be buying. Or i could mention my unwillingness to buy so that they can gauge interest. I say all this because I want them to know that the ball is in their court and they can keep taking my money if they want it.

Here is where I disagree a bit. Lets not make it like the humble customer is giving constructive criticism just to make a product better and the producer threw a temper tantrum. That not what is happening. What's happening is there is a certain type of collector that must be insulting and childish while giving said criticism. And also sometimes lets face it you're giving feedback on art direction that maybe just maybe isn't universal but your own opinion . Ant especially has always been receptive since he has took over this company and listened. This is nothing new for him but the people in our hobby that feel personally aggrieved if some art direction doesn't go their way is incredible. The community has to take some responsibility how they treat others even these small businesses. Ask yourself why Sideshow is no where to be found on forums?

Passionated customers too often use their passion as an excuse to basically be disrespectful. There is a line that shouldn’t be crossed, & customers cross that line on the internet so much to the point where entire fandoms have been labeled as toxic 😬. I think comic collectors take it even farther than statue collectors - there's a LOT of negativity and drama towards the MCU, speculation, grading, how people collect etc. It can be nauseating, especially when we live through a time where everything is so AMAZING. I’m sure PCS is hurting sales wise. I know the industry is down in sales with the rising cost of the pieces and shipping has become laughable. So any “criticism” of a piece that may affect sales will definitely raise eyebrows. I’m sure Arnold’s license fee wasn’t cheap plus the cost to manufacture. So put that together and PCS needs this to be a good seller and fear of poor reviews potentially lowering sales is what drove the response. It’s a big investment on their part and they’re trying to protect that investment.

Well... Something about that when it comes to free speech and so on. There is only free speech when somebody else wants to say that it's acceptable. For examples are People want to say that there is free speech if you say something like a Racial slurs. But if you speak about somebody's family or their wife you're more or less acceptable to act on violence. Another example is if you're on a phone call and you might be a little bit upset with a customer service agent they're allowed to deactivate your account and ban you from shopping with the company solely because of your speech. What I'm getting at is free speech is only OK if it's socially acceptable. I'm not sure exactly what happened at the beginning of this because it wasn't all that clear. But yes people are allowed to talk and have criticism on a statue or a piece of art. I think the problem now is that the companies have so much invested into the stuff that if a big majority of people are upset with a product they likely see that they're not going to make the money back. It goes to say that the statue hobby isn't healthy or in a good spot anymore
