For me it was my first ever convention, fanexpo in Toronto. I was very excited because Matt smith was going to be there, unfortunately I didn't have the money to get an autograph or picture with him, but I was able to get a picture of him. My mom sent me forward to get pictures but the minute I stepped forward (and I had made sure getting pictures from afar was ok) I had staff hounding me to get back that I wasn't aloud to see them unless I had gotten an autograph. They were doing this to absolutely everyone too. I finally gave up and went back to where my mom was only to find out they'd had this staff problem multiple times. To the point Jack barrowman stood up, called out to everyone just to meet him in the parking lot at the end of the day and that's where he'd give pictures and autographs.

That was my second time going to Fanexpo and I do feel bad for what happen to you, But I think the price for the Picture and/or autograph for Matt Smith is way to much, and if I where you I wood have said to that staff " fine I guess my money is no go to you" but that just me.

This is one thing I have to stress hard core about. PLEASE if you encounter ANY rude staff at all, there should be a ZERO tolerance for it. I should know because I staff Anime Expo. What to do in that situation is if you can get a good look at the staffer's badge write down their name and what department they work in and go talk to another staffer to see if they can get the manager for that department to come over and help you out in that situation. If they deem the actions made by that individual was severe enough they would have the power to remove them from staff immediately. No one, should ever have to experience that. They will probably escalate it to SR (Staff Resources) and Convention Operations (Con Ops) to let them know of the individual in question is removed from staff and to keep an eye out on them.

I haven't encounter rude staff at AX, but many times, incompetent staff members who do not know locations of Lost&Found or where to line up. It's gotten better and I know it's hard because the convention is so big. I've gotten lost trying to find "F" parking and asked for help, but no one knew and no one was willing to come along and help me. I've realized to depend on myself because I know it's hard for the staff. The AX staff is nice tho! No meanies in the last 3 years.

Once at Ramencon(this was like 2 years ago) when my badge was on my bag and you can clearly see it but a staff member asked for my badge so I was like okay, whatever, maybe he didn't see my badge. But the thing is that he kept saying badge more and more snobbish every second and even when I did show him he still went on for like 5 seconds. I'm not kidding you it was EVERY SECOND. it's like you are clearly seeing me getting it out, no need to repeat yourself.

This wasn't drama with con staff as it was with hotel staff. Last month, me and my friends went to Anime California which was at the Hyatt in the OC. It was a first year con. The staff there seemed cool with me and my friends and we assumed things were all gravy. We had a great time at the con.....but about a week after the con, it came to our attention that the hotel staff, as well as regulars staying at the hotel, were complete douche-bags. Being rude and demeaning towards the cosplayers there. It got so bad, that a petition was issued against Hyatt OC. Here's a link: www.change.org/p/hyatt-orange-county-we-demand-hyatt-orange-county-to-issue-a-statement-through-the-organizers-of-anime-california-acknowledging-the-abuse-by-hotel-staff-what-will-be-done-to-prevent-such-abuses-in-the-future Also, within this petition article, there is a link to a video where a woman flat-out trash-talked a group of cosplayers and hotel security did nothing. Yeah, this s#!t sucks.

Sakuracon 2014 had a terrible staff. I wore a costume without heels and was in line with these really awesome people and the female of the couple wore these really pretty and uncomfortable white heels. Well this was her first convention and she hadn't thought to break them in, so she was barefooted (wearing socks mind you) because she'd had to gauze wrap her entire heel because it had started to bleed from blisters. Now I would understand if she was bleeding everywhere and sitting in an area that was super busy, but for this particular panel, we were in a hallway similar to what you mention in the video. Empty. Led to nowhere. It was actually the home of Artist Alley back in 2012 and was now just an empty space. Mind you this is about 11pm at night, 90% of the people in this line are sitting down because we're all either just out of costume or still in them and exhausted. This staff member (who I've had problems with in the past, and actually got into a fight with in 2012) forces everyone to stand, cluster together and anyone who sits down is going to get booted out of the line. This poor girl had to use my shoulders and her brother's shoulders just in order to stand because her feet were hurting her so badly but God forbid anyone in that line sit down. That's just the biggest story, the staff was extremely rude to anyone riding the escalators who stopped for even a MOMENT to wait for a friend (because its a "no picture area") got angry at people who didn't wear their badges in plain sight (for instance I opted to wear mine inside my cloak so I didn't have to worry about it for pictures) and even tried to ban certain weapons that had previously been allowed AND peacebonded. I love Sakuracon and am friends with a few of the staff members, but man, their staff gets worse by the year.
@KitsunenoHibi

UGH, that was a YEAR, wasn't it? Seriously, I love Sakuracon, but they do NOT vet volunteers at all.... They're just so damn desperate they let anyone staff. That was one of the worse years for shitty staffers.... I swear, my friend and I couldn't go ANYWHERE without getting yelled at! It was a nightmare, and I have an idea who you're talking about. Were they the one patrolling the Late Night Chess line? Because yeah, I had a beef with them too. I mean, that line is tedious enough to wait in, and this douche is prowling up and down the curves of the line, shouting at anyone who is sitting or isn't practically painted onto the person ahead of them in line. This is the LATE night game, dude, people are EXHAUSTED. I remember feeling like I had broken bones in my feet; I wasn't too far off. I'd gotten severe tendonitis in one foot, so I was in a LOT of pain. I was dying, but I was desperate to see the show and so my friend and I stood there, suffering. Every time we tried to sit, or even just fucking squat a little to change the pressure on our legs and feet, Captain Asshat comes along and snaps at us to stand up again. It was super frustrating and I couldn't understand how a person could be so awful; it wasn't like the line was moving!!! Add to that, during the whole weekend, it was like every sitting place wasn't allowed anymore. Sit on the big communal steps, where EVERYONE always used to sit?? Holy fucking shit, the bear cavalry of staffers comes in and chases you off with a BULLHORN. Find a quiet spot in a hall with no line?? GET UP! Stop blocking the non-existent foot traffic!! I swear, I think some of these sadists were targeting people who were just trying to sit down for a bit; I saw one entirely change the direction of a line so that it looped around to where my friend and I were eating lunch, forcing us out of an area that we had THOUGHT to be safely out of the way. I mean, who does that?! We had no idea what was going on, and it wasn't like there was a line conflict or something; we look down the hall, and the other line down the way was for the same event... The staff at that con can be out of control.

This was at Baltimore comic con, and we all had wristbands. Whenever we were to enter the con the staff had us show the wristbands so we could enter. Well, there was this one staff, So rude! He was literally yelling at everyone to show him our wristbands so we could enter, and even sometimes if we did show him and he didn't see it, he would take someone's wrist and say let me see that! In a very harsh tone, and once he saw it he was like okay you may enter. There were other staff to checking the wristbands and they were chill about it, but that one guy was just not having it. Honestly, people really need to calm the hell down and just do their job. He has no people skills whatsoever.

Makes me think of the Gamescom 2015 safety personel. They pull me aside because they wanted to check my prop. Sure here you go sir please be carefull it's made out of foam and clay. The dude friggin starts bending it to the point where not only the paint cracked but also the clay and my prop is at that point almost completely ruined. Luckily another cosplayer saw what happned and took me to the cosplay repair section and with the stuff in her bag we could have the knife looking okay for pics. But I sadly was not able to repair the damage done completely :(

This year, Megacon in Florida was under new management. Megacon is the only general con in the central Florida area that I know and I have been going for around 3 years now, this year being my third time. The last two years, the cons have been great. Nice staff, quick to get in, easy parking, the works. This year, the new management most likely did not have any prior experience in running cons, as they decided to make it 4 days instead of 3 days like normal. This caused so many problems with scheduling, ticket sales, and staff. So we had bought our tickets from Colosseum of Comics, a comic store here, so that way we wouldn't have to wait in line to buy tickets at the con. When we got there, all of the staff told us that if we didn't have a wristband, we had to go to the pre-bought ticket line. We followed and figured the people had no real idea what to do for people. We had got to the con at 12:00, and by the time we got through the line, it was 2:30. Once we got to the end of the line, the person told us that we were in the wrong line. It turns out that the con had set up a 'third party' room and didn't tell anyone. We had to find the manager, and he told us to get our wristbands from the third party ticket room. Once we did, we met back up with him and he got us into the con at 3:15-ish. We were already annoyed that no one had told us or informed that there was a third party room. The manager started getting mad at us when we were telling him about our experience with the staff and waiting in the wrong line for two and a half ours. He began getting snippy, saying that we didn't very seem very greatful for him getting us into the con even though it was him not telling his staff what to do properly. When we were finally walking into the con, my brother and I both heard him talking to a staff member about 'another annoying bitch' complaining, which happened to be my mom. After all that, the con was decent, but it was very rushed as we only had about 4 hours of the con left once we got in. I still recommend it, just get your wristband mailed to you and don't bring a prop unless you want it confiscated. TL;DR: Megacon is under new management and the manager was rude to my family after we waited in the wrong line for 2.5 hours thanks to poor staff communication.

Last convention this year I was getting ready to get my autograph signed by a very well known anime director. I show up and find out that the long ass line had been "cut off" due to too high of a volume. I read the web site, I looked at the schedule and saw no warning of a cut off. I was a little upset. I understand now the point for cut offs for celebrity autograph exhibits, the director can't sign autographs forever but still their should have been warnings on the web site and schedule. So then I decide to take a picture of the director from a safe noticeable distance and one of the security guards walks up to me, get's all up in my face way in my personal space and then he says "Sir, everyone's been waiting in line. No photography or I will escort you off." I told him I didn't read any "no photography" policy on the web site or saw any sign that said "No photography" and then the security guard goes "It doesn't matter, I'm telling you you can't. What I say is what matters." If it was the streets I would've knocked his head off. I felt vaguely threatened.

On friday night, me and my friends get to amke. Only one of us has our badge but we didnt think we'd need it cuz we wernt going to go in anywhere. And we get in, and a staff comes up to us and asks to see our badge, and when he found out we didnt have them, he said we would have to leave. Mind you, this was at a public hotel. Thankfully, he let us through saying that he was out numbered from 1 to 6. It was really weird. Never knew that you'd have to have your badge just to walk into the lobby as you try to get one. I didnt have a badge cuz I didnt have enough money, but it was ok because I didnt need to go into any of the rooms. But I could feel some staff's eyes follow me when I passed by with my friend. I think most dismissed me because I made sure to always hang out with someone who did have a badge just in case. Also, apparently, my friend was in line with a bunch of others to get their things signed by one of the VA. And they were like seconds away from getting in. But then they were told that they couldn't because Todd's signings were done. Not a minute later and they were told that them and a few others could get in in about 10 minutes. So she was super excited. Then the actor walks out and apologies to her and the others who were still in line before glaring at the staff and walking out. I was near by, so I did hear some commotion when that happened. It was so weird.

I've had similar problems with going in the masked dances at Amke where they won't let you in if you aren't dressed up and masked. At the time, I was freaking out searching for my now ex who was missing. She was supposed to meet me there at the door and wouldn't pick up her phone or anything, and the person at the door wouldn't let me in to find her for like an hour.

Had a staff member at the first RTX London almost break a RWBY prop that took months to make (it was con safe as it had been to MCM Expo before) and security on the front entrance picked it up by the smallest part and started shaking it, and we could hear it creaking and cracking so we asked them to put it down, which they did after a little more shaking. They then said we would probably not be allowed in with it as props aren't allowed, luckily a few cosplayers behind us also had similarly made props (materials and sizes) and a supervisor came over and said we were fine, tagged the prop and we went in, but the first guard did it a few more times over the weekend, including to some friends.

I've actually had a similar situation happen a few years ago with the staff running Mechacon's cosplay contest. My group and I were slowly making our way into the room where the contest was being held at. The whole time while we were in line waiting to get in, shouting was coming from that room. Finally we make it up to the front, and we figure out who's shouting and why they were doing that. Some crazy staff lady was shouting at all the attendees to fill up EVERY seat in the room. Now, I understand that everyone should be able to get seats when it's available, but this lady was actually FORCING people to sit in specific areas and constantly breaking up groups. When it got to our turn to be seated, she yelled at us and told us to sit in this row where there was not enough seating for our group. We asked if we could sit in the next row because we wanted to keep the group together, she yelled at us again and got pissy about our question and was like, "NOPE, CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT. SIT DOWN." We walked in and stood against the wall instead, and we saw that many people before and after us were against the walls in the room too because they were in their own groups too. Then a couple minutes later, she yells as loud as she can, "PEOPLE, SIT DOWN WHERE I DIRECT YOU TO SIT DOWN. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SIT WHERE I PLACE YOU, EITHER STAND AGAINST THE WALL LIKE THESE PEOPLE OR LEAVE. IT'S THAT SIMPLE." Luckily for us, some people actually left the room before the contest started and my cousins spotted us and called for us across the room to take the seats by them.

At Anime North 2015, my sisters and I were guests, and it was our second year there. Any time we stopped in the dealers room to look at something, the staff would yell at everyone "KEEP MOVING" "DONT STOP" and usher people through the hall. It was really really annoying, if you were stuck in a hall area trying to look around, they would push you forward to keep walking, even if someone wanted to stop to take your photo, they would tell you to do it elsewhere. They just wanted a continuous flow of people, but at a con, you can’t do that because you’re there to LOOK at stuff, buy stuff, look at the artwork etc, so it was really frustrating. My sister at one point stopped because she had a foot cramp and this girl came right up behind her saying “KEEP MOVING” and so she had to hobble away while having a cramp. Not a good experience at all. At the same con, when it came time for the dealers room to close and clear out, the staff were hounding us every 5 seconds saying “IT’S CLOSED, MOVE TOWARDS THE EXIT!” My sisters and I stopped to get some water at the water cooler area while half of the people were already cleared out, and some guy came storming up to us saying PLEASE LEAVE, IT’S CLOSED! We both flashed him our “Guest of Honor” badges and he got so apologetic and walked away terrified saying “Sorry! So sorry, you can stay!” HA! xD Our other channel is Estrada Sisters if you want to check out our Convention Vlogs! :)

One time I went to Lexington Comic Con, It was my 1st time going to that con and I got lost. I asked this one security guy where the line was and he was comepletely RUDE. Like I said "Excuse me where is the line for recieving tickets that were paid online in advance?" He responded with "Do you see people standing? Then get over there in line lady!" Then I responded "Thanks for answering. Next time calm your attitude just because I asked a simple question." and walked away. And it turned out, he pointed me to the wrong line, it was the line where people were paying for at the door tickets but luckily when I got up there, the person went over to the line I was supposed to be in and got my badge & ticket for me.

I've been to one con (and going to my second soon). One day during Saturday night of the con, I went to an 18+ panel and everyone had to deal with this power hungry staff member. She would yell, and demand us to listen her in line when the hall was really large (similar to your situation). She was also demanding during the panel too. That's when I learned staff can be really different from one another. Earlier that same day, I was in line for another panel and the line stretched through one of the food courts and into the main lobby and was right beside another line that was really long. Even though it was probably tough to control, the two staff members were so polite and everything remained orderly.

Man that really just irrates about going to cons. Some of them even ruin your con weekend which is never okay. One time at Anime Matsuri, I was in line for an autograph session and this guy strictly said you have to have your items out in your hand while in line and if you don't then they kick you out. I had mine before I got in line but then I see him go to the very back and he starts yelling at a group of people who don't have their items out to get out of line. Which is very stupid because they probably got in line very late and are going to take their items out they're closer to the table and they also may have missed the memo about the items. I swear I just wanted to say something but I didn't wanna deal which that douche.

My first con, I decided that the costume I was doing just HAD TO HAVE heeled shoes. Well, someone bumped into me and I fell and ended up spraining my ankle in some way. I was limping so one of my bigger male friends decided to give me a piggyback ride to the elevator up to our room. About halfway there, there was still staff member girl who told him he couldn't be carrying me because it was dangerous and blah blah blah. We both tried to tell her that I couldn't walk and he was just taking me up to the elevators. She then decided she was going to call med staff, and she led us to this couch thing (she still wouldn't let him carry me) and had us sit. She called for the med staff on her walkie-talkie and I didn't hear her get any response. So I was just there with this lady and my friend and literally a half-hour later, no one from med staff had come. My friend suggested several times that she try and call again, because there was still no response and we'd just been sitting there. She was super snappy and said that they would be there ASAP but we weren't the only people they had to serve and whatever. My friend then asked if he could leave to get me some ice or some pain medication or anything, and she said that he needed to stay in case I had a concussion or something. (Note: I didn't even hit my head when I fell and hadn't complained about my head hurting so idk why she thought I had a concussion.) Fifteen minutes later, he basically went "screw you" and went to get ice. While he was gone, she FINALLY called med staff again, and they hadn't even gotten her first call. They came within five minutes and bandaged my ankle and offered to get a wheelchair to help me up to the room. I said that my friend had the keycard so we should wait until he came back. As soon as he got back, the lady asked him for the keycard, got it, gave it to me, and then promptly escorted him to the security desk because he had disobeyed a staff member. It was Sunday, so he just turned over his badge and went up to the room and we packed up and left.

My first convention there was only like a couple of staff members to provide badges and stuff. What I notice is, the bigger the con the bigger balls the staff has. Matsuri and the other con you were talking about with the absolute wazzbag are popular cons, and I personally, if I had to have dealt with that asshat, I would've ignored him, and when he brings other staff over to remove me, I would've calmly explained the situation, and knowing others around are just as aggrivated as I am with the staff dude, would most likely back me up. But, yeah, people like that ruin what's meant to be an amazing experience, no matter how many cons you attend, you'll never be able to get past how you feel your first con, the excitement, nerves, the awe, it doesn't really seem to ever go away ^.^ That's what I love about conventions most after the people who are just as wierd, geeky and nerdy as I am with similar intrests that I have.

Just last year I was at Acen, and right after I got my badge my friend needed to go to the bathroom. They were trying to get everyone who got their pass to go outside for some reason, which had never happened in years past (pretty sure...). Anyways, I'm waiting outside the bathroom for my friend, and some big scary man comes up and yells at me to clear the area because the con isn't open yet. I get pretty shy, so I am trying to explain that I am waiting for my friend while he is yelling at me to stop loitering. Some other girl stuck up for me, but I was still frightened.

My second convention ever, I was with my boyfriends dad and our friends. We went into the line to get our passes and the kids all got theirs first so our one adult was left in line. We went to wait at the table in the empty isles for exiting and a staff member and up and said we couldn’t wait there. We explained that our adult was waiting for us and we couldn’t leave or else he would get worried, she didn’t care and told us to wait outside the hall doors. We waited and he took a while to get back, once he got back he sighed and told us he was scared someone took us when he wasn’t looking and was really mad at the staff and went to tell them off for making him worried. Then later the same day we asked some of the staff about dress code for the charity ball and they didn’t even know the dresscode, like wow you don’t know he dresscode for the con you’re working at okay

Does that guy work at Colossal con too? On another video I commented my rude staff story. But almost sounds like the guy who yelled at my friend and I for going where a worker told us. Then when I was in line for a autograph signing, I don't know if it was the same guy or not, but there was a guy who wanted everyone against the wall and as close to the person in front of you as possible.

I have a pretty comedic experience with a certain con staff personnel. So there I was, Akon 2018. (best con I've ever been to btw). It was saturday and I was determined to meet Matthew Mercer (my hero and forever man crush). I woke up at five am. Ran to the con Center, waited outside in the ran. Sprinted ( because running wasn't allowed ) to the artist alley/dealers den line. Managed to get first in line. So I wanted about fourish hours and made some great friends. Once the room opened to general admission I also sprinted to the guest lines. Heard that we weren't allowed to line up so I browsed the sellers room and bough some stuff. About an hour before the time he arrived, me, my mother, and about a hundred other people made our own line against the wall. Well our good ol friend Mr. I wanna be in charge here Link! (con staff dude). Decided to ruin our fun. "No lining up!" technically we weren't in line. We were all seated nicely "resting" against the wall. So when the time came to actually line up. Everyone stood up, and in a cartoonish fashion, legit side stepped to the actual place to line up. I can't explain it well enough to express how beautiful this was executed. Link was pissed. So anyway. About three hours later it was announced Matt might not be able to do any more autographs because of a Scheduling conflict. Bless that man's heart tho, he stayed about two extra hours to make sure EVERYONE in that line got to meet him. However, after I got the grandest pleasure of meeting that beautiful man, Mr. Linky Link aka I'm a big boy listen to me. Cuts off everyone to get an autograph without having a fastpass or waiting in line. Total douche. But I still had a wonderful experience and it was fun having everyone testing Links limits. Akon 2018 will forever be the best con I've ever attended. And I love Matthew Mercer.

I was at Nan Desu Kan with my girlfriend last September and I had asked a cosplayer for a picture and she agreed (we were out of the way in like a corner) and just as I was about to hit the take picture button this huge staff member just stood in front of her and yelled at me saying that there was no pictures allowed. I would have understood if he had asked politely if I could take it somewhere else, but he was very rude and loud and made me feel super embarrassed and I took my girlfriend's hand and cried in the nearest bathroom since I get really upset when people raise a tone with me...

The line thing bothers me the most, went to a con with a friend and lined up for the rave. It was late at night and by that point the convention center was mostly empty and the rave was being held on the second floor. The rave started over an hour late but the worst part was the con staff militantly going up and down the line yelling at everyone at the top of their lungs. Then they decided they would have the line be lined up with people two by two, which was okay i guess because I could still talk to my friend, then they decided to change it to single file, very very STRICT single file, meaning you were not allowed to turn around and talk to the person behind you. The fact they were so strict and so rude, not to mention so LATE in doing their rave it ruined the whole night for me.

I actually have two different stories about rude staff at a con. 1. I went to RICC for my first convention last year and it was the last day of the convention. I was trying to find out where a certain guest was going to be signing, but they rudely said that "oh we don't know, go to the help desk and find out". So I did and they had no clue either. I ended up walking around for about three hours only to find out that they were already gone for the day. It would have been great to have known that in advance, but nope they just had to be rude and unorganized. 2. I went to Anime Boston for the first time this year and I went with a friend who also went for her first time as well. We were standing in line for Todd Haberkorn's panel for like an hour and then all of a sudden, the staff told us to move to the other side of the hallway for no reason whatsoever. Because they did that, people who weren't in line originally cutted in front of everyone else. Then, during the panel there was a guy who was choosing people to ask Todd a question, but he only called on people in the back. Some of these people were waiting for like two to three hours and he only came to the front once. At the end of the panel, he told everyone that whoever didn't get a chance to ask Todd a question could ask it at his autograph session. However, another friend we met up with left early to stand in line for his autograph and told us right before the panel ended that his line was already capped. So those people didn't even get to ask him their question, which really does stink because they waited a lot longer than the people in the back. Those are my rude staff at a con stories and I'm sorry that they were long!

I got separated from my friends and we had a certain place to meet if we got lost but I wasn't sure how to get there from where I was at, and I asked a staff member and they said "It's not my fault that you're lost." I found my friends like an hour later and missed the panel I wanted to go into but what ever :P

I've never had an experience with "rude" staff myself as much totally clueless staff, but it was only one time at Anime festival Orlando. I asked them where this one event had been moved to and all of them said, "Uhhhh, I have no idea" and I was just like "um...oh :/" and felt really really glum. Yeah...

I tend to go to Sakuracon every year and my friend told me of an incident where he was standing in line for a panel. Now let me say Sakuracon isn't that great with keeping neat lines but this one time there was just this horrible staff member trying to clean up the line not only being rude and telling them how to line up but physically touching the people in line shoving them into the line. Another story which I was personally there for was at my con's glomp circle. I haven't been to many other cons but from what I know most con's don't really allow glomp circles but they tend to form anyways. But a staff member came outside from inside the convention and told us [and i mean a huge circle btw] that we had to disburse or they would take all of our badges away which one they technically can't do and second we were in a park which was beside the con building so it's also not in their right to be able to stop the glomp circle in general. That particular staff member just kept threatening us but we tend to have the same problem every year where staff give us trouble for the glomp circle and depending who is in the circle some times it stops the game and others we just don't care and ignore them. =\

I went to Anime north last year with 4 other friends (we didn't have a weekend pass we just had the Saturday pass) and there was this one voice actor who we were dying to meet. So we show up to the convention and were tying to find the signing table (which the signing started at like 11am) , and once we actually found them we were only a few minuets late till when the signing started (maybe like 5 minuets). We were all staring to get really exited and we saw people get in line, so we went to get in line. Then a staff worker (a lady) steps in front of us and places a trash can there. Me and my friends were really confused on why she did this, then she looks at us and says "you should have gotten here earlier, try again tomorrow." She said it in such a rude tone and then just walked away! So we were kinda bummed out for the rest of the day since we didn't get to meet him.

My rude staff story goes mainly with the security at Otakon 2014. I was walking with some friends towards the dealers room and before you go down the first flight of stairs to get to it there is a hallway with lines for I think autographs so people wait there often. Someone in line saw me and asked if they could get a photo and I know its not good to block the pathways so I ducked into the line, which mind you was only partially filled and these guys were in the very back of the line so I wasn't cutting anyone. I ducked under the barrier and let them take a photo and then ducked back out as a security guard came up to me and said "Hey you can't cut the line!" I just told her they wanted a photo and I was going to the dealers room and she repeated again that I couldn't cut. At that point I just ignored her and walked off. My friends had stood up against the wall while I got my photo taken and there happen to be doors that lead to the outside but are usually locked so you can't get in. When I walked away from her she turned to them and accused them of walking in through the doors and that she could have their badges taken away. They told her they didn't walk through the door but were waiting on me to get my photo taken. She ignore them and still accused them so they just followed me to the dealers room. My second story was on Sunday as we were waiting in line to get into Artist Alley. We were chilling along the wall and infront of us were some doors that led to the outside, well as we got closer to the doors for Artists opening a few staffers and an Artist Alley Vendor walked up and tried coming in through the doors. When one of them came in a security guard ran over and told them they coudn't go in that way and had to walk around to the other side of the con and go in that way and walk the whole way back through the con to get to Artists. They argued with the security guard that they were staffers and a vendor, you could clearly see the staff lanyard and tshirt and the vendor badge and she even had some stuff with her for her booth, and he still would not let them in. This went on for at least five minutes and attendees even started shouting "just let them in its clear they are supposed to be here!!" Then finally the security guards supervisor came down and told him to let them in but not before the guy argued with him as well. Then lets not forget the insane shitstorm that occurred Otakon 2014 with pre reg on thursday. I got my badge so I didn't have issues but I did wait 3.5 hours for it. The one staffer was kind of annoying she was yelling and screaming at us to be close together and keep moving but there were thousands of people lined up outside the BCC so it was kind of needed. I gather that when 10 pm hit they closed the doors but didnt tell the people outside the doors that they wouldn't be getting in to get their badges so they waited till like midnight. I do remember walking back past the con around midnight and people were still waiting there. It was crazy. Staffers were really badly informed and didn't tell anyone anything. It was insane that year. The security guards were on some sort of ego kick, 2015 was pretty good this year.

It wasn't a con staff but someone who worked at the college the con was being held at. I was actually still in my process of looking at colleges around the time of this convention, so I decided to walk around a little bit and check the place out. As soon as I stepped a few feet out of the area where everyone was there was this lady being all "Who are you? Why are you here? You can't be in here!!!" so I told her I just wanted to look around and she just gave me this look of disgust. I was super paranoid about where I stepped for the rest of the time I spent there. I also know what college I won't be going to (I also heard about a bad experience someone I know had there.) And then there was this other convention (again at a college) where the staff was just completely lacking. There was a 2-hour wait to get into the vendor hall, yet people kept getting in through the back door. Where were the staff when this was happening??

So last year was my first anime convention ever, and it was at RamenCon. I was in line for the display catwalk and they let us in and we sat down and stuff. A couple of my friends in my group were actually in the catwalk were back behind the curtain and my other friend had to use the restroom. So I put my stuff down over my seat as did she, and I also had a couple other group members watch my spot. So I took her to the restroom but when we went back, a staff member wouldn't let us in! So I explained that my friends were in the catwalk, we'd been waiting for a while, blah blah. But this guy still wouldn't let us in! Luckily, though, the staff member next to this guy was like "dude, you need to calm down." And she let us in. Also, I saw you there last year! As for this year, my second convention (also at Ramencon), it was the greatest time of my life! There was one rude staff member, though. We couldn't find the main events room for Todd Haberkorn's and J. Michael Tatum's autographing so I asked Chris (guy who runs Ramencon) and he told us "you go through the dealers room, to the right, and through the door." So that's what we did. Then we sat down and waited a couple minutes and this staff member walks up and gives us a complete attitude about us coming through the door that we came through! So I said "That's where Chris told us to go!" And he says, with a complete attitude, "Well next time, go around!" And he stormed off. What a jerk!

I was at Anime Detour this year and when I wanted to get a picture of someone a staff member screamed at us telling us that we couldn't take pictures in that area. It was a hallway and there were plenty of other people getting pictures taken there. Then before the masquerade started there was this lady who was screaming at everyone telling them that they couldn't stand in that area. The masquerade didn't start for another two hours and it was a huge area and yet we couldn't be there? We would only be standing there for like 3 seconds before we were told to move. Then once we were finally in line the masquerade was delayed and so a lady whistles at everyone and screams at us telling us to move away from the line. Then as we were finally entering the convention a medical emergency happened in line and staff members and security were telling people to move away and they were calling people names like "animals" and telling us we were a bunch of sheeples.

At my first convention 3 years ago (Zenkaikon 2011) I was super new to everything involving conventions, the con just happened to be over my birthday and a few staff members had told me that some of the vendors would give you discounts/ cheaper prices on Sunday and they might even give a little extra for birthdays etc, I got really excited and asked a vendor about it and he was like " Yeah! come back on Sunday at like 3:30 " I didn't notice until later that the dealers alley/ artists alley closes at 1:30 on Sunday... I went back to the vendor and asked why he lied and he laughed at me for a good 5 minutes. I know I was new, and really oblivious to stuff, but he didn't have to be so mean about it. To this day, I refuse to buy from the same vendor and have been to over 10 conventions that they were also attending.

Anime north last year was my first big city convention. I had no clue what I was doing. In the line to get into the dealers room was cramped, unorganized and long. This line snaked around like a maze and it took a lot of staff to handle the volume. This one staff member was a rather large woman and I'm almost 6 foot and she towered over me. She was yelling with one of those megaphone things and totally contradicting the other staff. When the other staff told us to move one way she was telling us another and who are you going to listen to right? I know she wasn't just yelling at me but I almost cried. I was in a new element and I was soooo confused. On the upside I met a lot of really fun staff members!.... I will not forget my scary run in though..... Ack that was long sorry

con staff was super sloppy and shitty at Con + Alt + Delete last year and lied to me and my friends a lot one of my friends lost their badge and we went to the con staff room or whatever and asked what we could do and they told us to go to a 'main desk' or whatever and we could get another one for a small fee and when we got there there we were told we had to pay full price for a new badge. that actually wasn't that bad but the fact that con staff outright lied to us was really like... ? ? ? then this random volunteer (which i dont even know if this could count but it was still a shitty experience) was like "HEYYYY little homestucks!!" (me and my friends were like 12/13/14 at the time) "if you volunteer for like 2 hours you can get free badges for next year!" so we were like "hell yeah lets do it" but we went to legitimate con staff and they told us that we actually had to volunteer for like two full days????? so we were like what the hell why is all the con staff lying to us and then later on a friend of a close friend of mine had lost someone at the con and they were freaking out and crying being super panicked and all and the con staff were being super condescending and not taking them seriously at all? like they found the person after 20 or so minutes but still they were being complete dickwads and it was not okay at all honestly

I remember my friend telling me they were waiting in the signing line for Johnny Yong Bosch and Tatum and this guy who was part of staff approached them and told them they could get in faster. They left the line and it turned out he lied. It was shocking and everything. This was the first ever con in the area. My friend was totally outraged coz she was a fan of Tatum. I think the guy who was part of staff was instantly reported and we never saw him again. Now I don't know entire story but that's was it. I had went to this other con myself and it was my first time attending that particular con. I have been to other cons myself in the past but this was the first one of that name. So I wasn't familiar with the area myself since I don't live in the given location. So I approached this member of staff and asked if he knew times of buses and what the last one would be. Now I know many staff may not know this detail but ya'd expect him to kindly help or give advice. Nope he didn't! He was like "Oh I'm just the guest liaison" or something like that. Not a single kind remark or deciding to take time to help me out. I was really upset because if i couldnt get bus back to where i was staying it would be fork out money for taxi or stuck sleeping on street or even on the floor of hotel. No joke! I found it kinda insulting too. Would have been nice to get some help but obviously not.

It’s was this years, I at (Montreal) for a convention .I go to the artist and deal alley ( yes they are at the same place) and they change the rule for going in there, so we need to go on the line for enter, but I didn’t know so I approached the girl staff for a question not for enter, I just wanted to know where I can but my bag safety, but before I can take a breath to ask my question, she yelled at me « IT’S NOT THE ENTER GO TO .... FOR ENTER » . First I was surprised and I try again, but she yell at me again « ARE YOU DEAF, GO TO .... FOR ENTER... (and try in French) DOOR .... ENTRÉE ». i was frustrated because she yelled at me for nothing and I answered to her « yes I’m half deaf, but you don’t need to scream at me for something I don’t want to know » she answered me (more yelled) « THEN WHAT DO YOU WANT » I answered « I just want to know we’re it’s the place for put my bag in safety » she yelled « IT’S NOT MY JOB, SO MOVE IF YOU FONT WANT TO BE OUT ». So I move to see a security to ask them were it’s the place for my bag and he say « did you ask the lady here (the rude girls staff) » I say « yes but, she don’t want to help me, she yelled at me to move or I will be kicked out » so he guide me in the convention to found the information staff for found the record bags. It’s take me more than a hour for put my bag in safety and the security m’en was not surprise to her attitude. (I think it’s not the first time)

When I see rude staff personal at any Cons... they seem pathetic that all they can do to feel good about themselves is to act out their "power trip". They do it because their lives are crappy. I was at a Con where there was an autograph line for a celebrity. There was only that one person signing at the time... so there was only one autograph line. The Con had these lines taped on the floor marking where the autograph line is supposed to form. If one did not stand directly in between the two taped markers (about 2 feet width) ... if one just happen to even just step on the marker while waiting for hours to get an autograph... this staff guy would be right in your face yelling to stay between the taped markers on the floor.

I don't see why con staff feel the need to be rude I like to volunteer for conventions (because you get in free and some times you get good deals on hotel rates) but when I am there it's because it's my time off from work and my time off from dealing with rude customers from work. The only time I will raise my voice at anyone at the con is when they are doing something against con/hotel rules and I already asked them before not to do it. I want to make sure everyone is having a good time and feel bad when I do have to raise my voice. Cons are a fun time and a few days off of work/school for everyone including con staff so they should use the con as a vacation and not choose to be rude, there are nice ways to have everything in control and dealing with rule breaking con goers without ruining everyone's weekend.

I don't know on their phones texting someone about something I don't want to know about and I'm like in my nerves trying to get out of the bad staff situation because I'd know what their doing to us is wrong and I don't appreciate on how your treating but at the same time Do not want to cause any trouble either because I love coming to anime expo every summer so could you not push me over the limit cause I'm trying to have a nice time looking at these beautiful cosplayers/fan art/merchandise/ or meeting guests and more and it really ruins it for me cause I don't like on how they show ads on how kickass looking theses fandom conventions are and make people want to come that's playing with others mind cause once you get there its a disaster and obnoxious and that's stupid

So anyone in the GTA, is yelling sweaty line guy still showing up at cons? For jogging memories of for people who have not been to the GTA: There was this guy who would show up at EVERY con and he would always manage lines, and he was ALWAYS sweaty, even if he was in a t-shirt and inside of an air conditioned building. Maybe he had a medical condition? Possible. However, he was always VERY rude and VERY loud, always yelling at people even when they were doing what he was yelling at them to do. I moved so I haven't been to cons in the GTA for years but I ALWAYS remember that guy.

The con staff are irl losers that are given a little authority for 72 hours and they go on power trips. They really don't have many powers. If you're a big problem to them then they have to alert the hotel or convention center employees to intervene. Its pathetic.

We had some severity or like hard person follow my brother and I at anime California because he thought it was wrong that because my brother is 3 years older he was trying to stalk me This was my first con and it kind of scared me later on in the day because once we separated to go do separate things The guy followed me throw hallways and out side He later separated me from some one I was talking to to question me if I knew my brother And even when I expanded he was my brother I showed him both our ids he continued to question that I was lieing So because of this guy I haven't been able to get my brother to go with me agAin

This is my story It was my very 1st Comic Con back in 2011 My friends and I were in hasbro line when we got our tickets but I lost mine so I went into this staff n she had a a lot of hasbro ticket she told me to go back in line which we stood hours for everybody went ooooh on me yeah it's funny IK but for me I felt so embarrassed but I wasn't going to get anything in the hasbro line anyway. My second rude encounter its I didn't even notice at first but its this staff guy I was just waiting for my friends to finish their hasbro thing but this guy keeps following everywhere I go every corner like he thinks I'll cut in line. My point for my story what gives the con staff the right to be rude to con goers. Us Con goers likes to have a good time at conventions of any kind.

Haha, okay so this isn't staff being rude but I just hilariously remembered this one time I was headed into a charity ball and they were serving alcohol so 21 and up got a wrist band and minors got an X drawn on their wrist. I was a minor so I got the mark and I looked at it and asked, "Why not just leave it blank? I already don't have the wrist band." And the dude who marked me paused for a second and then chuckled and was like, "Yeah, but too late now though". I thought that was funny.

Everyone who goes to sacanime is just laughing because the staff is notoriously horrible(although at the most recent sacanime, I haven’t had any negative experiences with them other than them VERY aggressively checking wristbands, but that’s Normal for sacanime)

I staffed cons for some years and it can be tough. Sometimes staff do things that might not make sense to you, but there's a reason for it, like lining up against a wall or sitting on the floor. This can be a fire hazard and a con can be shut down. If an event (like masquerade) is going to be packed then they need to make sure that every available seat is filled, so they might not let you pick a seat because they want to get everyone in as many seats as possible. They could also underestimate the seating or overestimate the amount of people coming and do this and in the end look completely unnecessary. Also, sometimes yelling is necessary. You want to make sure that everyone hears you and you don't want to repeat yourself to every single person. However, there is a difference between yelling to let everyone know something or to ask them to do something and screaming in everyone's faces. With that, there are plenty of bad staff. Sometimes they are not only rude to attendees, but also to fellow staffers. Those rude staffers can drive away good staff. There's not a good excuse for some that is being unreasonably rude to attendees unprovoked.

How about racist staff? I attended a convention and these three fair skin girls entered the marketplace and the guy didn’t look at there badge and when I entered he stop me and ask for my badge, which was right there where he could easily see it 😑
